Another ripping yarn from Dave, as he continues his 2005 Pilgrimage to Vegas.
"...Days 21 and 22 June 23rd & 24th. As Ive documented many times, I do enjoy the odd game of 7 card stud. Whether or not a $5,000 buy-in WSOP tournament could be classified as just the odd game, is probably a little debatable. Anyway, just under 200 players coughed up the dough and we were fighting for a first prize of $290,000.
I spent most of the first day short stacked but hung on waiting for the cards to change. Just after dinner, they did. I got paid of in triplicate when I started a hand with rolled up

(555) and filled my house on the river. This turned out to be the start of a mini rush and I made steady progress throughout the night. When play was finally called to a halt there were just 36 of us left. I was handily placed with 41,500 chips in about 5th position.
Play was a lot more conservative on day 2 and progress was slow. At one point I peaked at around 75,000 chips before losing a succession of hands at the worst possible time. I was the lowest stack, down to less than 20,000 chips at bubble time. Not very clever. At one stage I had to put all my chips in with 9JQK (3 spades) against A664. If I lost, I was the bubble boy with no pay day. The two

didnt improve though, and I caught a couple more Jacks and the immediate pressure was off. Barry Greenstein and his chosen charity were in fact the unlucky recipients of 17th spot.
Fortunately, I managed to hang on until 12th spot and my third cash of the 2005 WSOP, $14,440. We are back in front again.
Day 23- June 25th.Im not sure if it was Brians celebration party last night, or the fact I have one eye on tomorrow, which is a huge Pot Limit Omaha event. Perhaps the hangover should have been my excuse not to play. Either way I turned up at my Pot Limit Hold em table determined to play aggressively, but ended up playing rather loose. This didnt work and I crashed early ideal preparation for my first bracelet?....."
