Their drivers have thrown parcels over my fence before. If they think I'm letting them in my house they're bonkers!

Their drivers are on min wage, and have to do a ridiculous amount of deliveries a day.  No checks on who the employ either

I'm sure that a fair percentage of them would see this as a good opportunity if anything valuable was lying about.

How this will work is the Amazon employee will case the joint, get a key cut for the places with worthwhile stuff, pass the keys and info on to a criminal gang who will burgle the house at a later date while Amazon man is out of the country taking a holiday and creating a cast iron alibi.

Beyond stupid, and the sad thing is I know a lot of people who will think this is a good idea. It's not just a bad idea for general security issues, delivery men jizzing in your house etc, it also means amazon guys will get blamed for unrelated crimes, they'll have house pets attack them etc. It's remarkable what we will give up for convenience.

Almost everyone has a nearby amazon locker, probably at their local corner shop, that solves the the 'I was out when the delivery came' problem perfectly well.
