Don't get me started David, spoilers piss me off more than anything else in the known universe.
I put a film on and we are instantly in the middle of a very dramatic scene, two minutes in it cuts to some mundane stuff with the caption, "Six weeks earlier..."
American TV before the commercial break, or sometimes randomly during the programme..
PREVIOUSLY! (Shows you what you have just seen at the start)
NOW! (Shows you what you were watching seconds before they interrupted you)
Next! (Shows you what you are going to see immediately after the interruption)
Football.
Can't watch any live match without the commentator "Updating" you with the scores from the other matches.
Even MOTD isn't safe, Lineker, Who I love BTW, can't help himself. "Next it's Newcastle v Chelsea, Shearer is a bit more cheerful this week..."
12 Marines go on a secret mission in the new blockbuster movie One Came Back.
Any reality show like Air Crash Investigation or 24 Hours in Police Custody show a 5 minute highlight reel with all the best bits before the start. Its gotten so bad that I only watch things on catchup so that I can fast forward to the start proper, but its still hit and miss.
The foreword or prologue to books are to be avoided like the plague.
Desmond's Diversion.
Prologue.
"Desmond is my best friend and my hero, I can't imagine where he found the strength to kill that tiger and then walk naked through 250 miles of dense jungle. I think he would have died from the malaria if he hadn't been rescued and nursed back to health by the Werdafukawi tribe. Desmond now lives in Swaffham with his partner Jayden.
I can thoroughly recommend this suspense-filled book.

Someone you've never heard of and don't care about.
