Title or Challenge??

Ok here's the question,
Would you prefer to win a competition (any sport) in which the field that entered was not strong, thus giving you an easier ride to win it,
or
Have a tougher field in which you would have a real challenge against tough opponents but that you still had a chance against??

Ok, so if you had the choice, final table at the Main Event, do you want to be playin eight versions of me and players like me or eight players of Phil Iveys ilk? I won't point out which ones are the fish!!

I'd rather play the best in the world.
No offence

No offence taken.
I'll explain the situation. As some of you know I've got a big (big for me) TT tourney coming up. It's the divisional (3 and 4) section of our leagues closed championships. I'm currently standing 14th in the rankings. Mainly this is due to my inconsistent performances rather than being a worse overall player. There are only three or four people above me who I know I can't beat.
I have seen the field for saturday. I am seeded second and the top seed is one place above me in the overall ranking. There are nine people competing, which is about average for this comp. 4 are from div three and five from four. I am only worried about two others in the field who I think have a chance of beating me.
I just can't work out how I'd feel if I win and wanted to get other opinions. if I win does it take away from the achievement or can I only beat what is put in front of me and be happy about that.

Dont worry about it. You can only beat the people that are put in front of you. Winning is achieving, it doesn't matter who you beat.
Just go and win

Give me the easy table every time - i'm sorry but given the choice of the two i'd rather take the profit than the glory of beating the best.
However i'd rather take the table of world class proffesionals rather than have 8 complete newbies!! I'd rather play against someone who knows what they're doing rather than someone who has no idea. How can i figure out what some is doing if they have no idea themselves

I'd take the title any day!
Nobody remembers the person who played well or came up against a difficult opponent.
I used to compete at Weightlifting and part of my agreement with the Lottery to continue funding was that I had to agree to partiicpate in certain competitions each year and place at certain events, If I turned up and got a walkover by competing against myself I never complained. Similarly if I turned up at an event and there was 10 opponets nobody ever remembered I lifted well apart from me - it meant nothing to my funding agreement.
WIN WIN WIN!! thats my motto.

I'm inclined to go for the easy option. Even though it sounds much better to say 'I beat Doyle Brunson after an 8 hours heads-up fight', it's still a lot nicer to say 'I won this or that event' than to say 'I came fourth to Hellmuth, Luske and Hachem' ...
Yes, beating tough opposition would be nice, but I'd rather beat someone below my level than loose against someone above my level. That said, we're talking about a major competition and a significant sum of $$ here.
If it's a freeroll/charity thing, i.e. playing poker for the purpose of playing poker alone, I'd much rather play against a world-class field, pick up some tricks from the pros and have a great time, than sit on a table with fish, play one hand every hour and get my aces paid.
