Vodafone card/ISP query

Because of work and stuff keeping me out of the house I have decided to invest in one of those flashy vodafone cards that connects me to the Internet, howver it just dawned on me that this will not be the end of the story as I will still need and ISP, unless that comes bundled with the card.

I can't use my ukonline account as it is a broadband account so I suppose I need to look around. Any ideas of a good, reliable and cost effective option.

I will need to send a large file once a day (digital dication), browse the forum and play a bit of poker. Not sure how much that will mean by way of downloads but will probably take the unlimited vodafone option.

So:

1. Am I right in thinking I will need a new ISP account and
2. Who do you think I should chose?

you wont need an ISP. It will automatically connect to vodafone as your ISP.

if you are buying the card on a 3g contract, I would be looking to get the 3g card free btw...

Also I think orange offer the same product as well now. It pays to shop around.

My nokia 3g on three... just connects straight to my laptop.. works about half the speed of broadband..cheaper than vodafone as well.

i went into the vodaphone shop today as my broadband had been down all week and i didnt want to be all weekend without a connection and ask about a doodar like tikay uses for updates, the lady there didnt know what a doodar was (she wasnt even blonde) but whn i explained what it did she offered me 1 on a years contract at £29.99 a month with 250 meg a month usage or £51+ for unlimited useage when i told her i just wanted a pay as you go she laughed and said no one did it and anyway a doodar would only connect at 28kps (half that of dial up)

so mr kendall can you put me in touch with your supplier of your doodar incase i get a problem like this again

I got a Vodafone 3G/GPRS card on a good deal.

I went for the 250 meg contract at £25 a month. I seemed to have a sensible guy who knew what he was talking about and was very helpful. As I had two vodafone contracts, until recently, he was very willing to assist. He chucked in the card for free, instead of £60. He also pointed out that they have a commitment free option where, if I don't like what I've got and return it within 3 months, all you pay is the usage charge for that time. That option normally costs £9.99 but he cancelled the charge.

All in all I think I have bargain, all I have to do is install the damn thing's software, that's the scarey bit.


10/10 to Vodafone Croydon, sales at it's best.

I just set a client up with internet access through his mobile on his existing contract.

Just needed a cable and the software from nokia's site. (could also use bluetooth or IR but decided it was best to keep it simple).

Connects at about 300kbs as well which isn't bad.
