I'm sure it also depends where they are as to what is reasonable force. If they are upstairs it is more acceptable to give them a good kicking.... Personally I'd give them the kicking downstairs with my 9 iron and them drag them upstairs to push them back down!
Not sure what I would do at the moment, living in a flat!
