not sure if i will be not played in a while been injured as usual.

The casinos will benefit to some extent obviously but surely as a player you must think its good the effort that Dik and dani are putting in to get your attentions in the cardroom, neither of them has mentioned the magic roundabout etc and i am sure that they both perosnally want you in the cardroom and are not to bothered about the drop in the pit??? perhaps i'm wrong but neither of them strike me as pit people, these guys are competiting for you guys, altho obviously the management themselves see it as peopel through  the doors.

could i say that broadway has a huge advantage as i see it over walsall in the fact the its closer to many of the players its trying to attract why jump in a car and drive for 30 minutes each way when you can walk, bus, taxi to venue or even just drive 5 minutes. walsall will always have to offer that little extra  to attract players that live closer to broadway

My comments were in no way aimed at Dani or Zac, which im sure they would know, as I always offer support to those guys. They have really tried to make things happen at Walsall, and it has started to pay off.
What I was trying to say is, dont believe everything is being done solely for the poker player.
The management know the importance of getting extra bodies through the doors and it is those who have the final say.
But a pat on the back for Dani & Zac for giving us poker players a voice at Walsall.I really do believe that those guys want to make Walsall the best cardroom in the UK.

Yogi, I respect you as a cardroom manager and think you too show a great intrest on poker players behalf, I also expect it is so frustrating when your hands are tied by people who dont have a clue about a cardroom.
I really understand your frustration at the lack of financial reward you guys get for making things a success and I welcome the days when the G Board wake up and allow tipping as in the US.
I truely believe if & when that happens, the casino industry will be a great one and wont experience the high  volume of new staff that it currently does.

On the subject of bodies through the doors, wonder why Star City have started a cardroom? Wink Wink

I didn't mean for that to come across as a whinge about poor pay. I was just stating a fact that only poker players and the upper casino management would get anything out of gettin people through the door. I enjoy my job, and if I wanted more money could get it. But I happen to like the people that come in. Even if they do rile me at times. Most card room supervisors/managers do otherwise they wouldnt be able to spend years in the same place. I also find they all want to improve and expand their own card rooms. This is pride. They don't do it for more money. They do it to advance the game, and like to think their own little card room is the best. It's an Ego thing I'm sure. Thats why I do it anyway. Of course we all whinde slightly about pay, but you will probably find its not all money with us.

Will Star City staff it or will they just staff it until they start to get busy then employ their dealers on the pit floor again. Just with Stanleys admissions crashing through the floor last year, that is prob what they r thinking

star city are just desperate for custom, they have lost so much money over the last few years they will try anything to attract custom.
incidentally they were charging poker players £1 per pint of lager but now it's £1.50.........still cheap but obviously they are losing patience with poker.

i dunno about that iron,

Walsall is an established venue in poker terms with a good location and parking (which seems to be very important to some players), festivals there are often well recieved. Its had its ups and downs as has any cardroom but has managed to stay ahead of most of the other cardrooms in uk as a promient player in the business when others have fell by the wayside. Dani and Zak seem to have done a good job (see dani no slurs about your integrity from me here lol) and the new competition from the ever emerging Broadway, as i said early will bring out the best in both parties. players dont just travel from Birmingham to play in walsall, i remember several players from the south coast who came up every week.

Dik has done a fantastic job at the broadway in such a short spaceof time to generate the postive remarks that have come and obviously some nights one club will be quiet whereas one will be full, thats just business in general.

Both clubs have a massive pool of players to draw from and i think it shows great things about Dik and dani that they are both determined to try and pull as many as they can from that pool regardless of one another.

Yogi, your intrest in the cardroom is easy to see, ie  posting on poker forums, and the proffesional way in which your cardroom is ran.
After Walsall, I must say Blackpool is my favourite place to play poker(srry dik9, havent played at Broadway yet ) in the UK that is Grin
One of the reasons for that is the way you run it, its great to deal with someone who has a clue and an intrest in the game.
Do not give up the good work however much the guys upstairs piss you off. Which im sure you wont.

Must tell you about an funny incident (although , I wasnt laughing at the time )
On tuesday in Walsalls £20 re buy n/l tourny , I had just re raised a player all in, when the dealer started  breaking down the bet in comparrison with the players chips. I asked the dealer to wait as there was another player to act. I told him it was 18k for this other player if he wanted to call and it was best to leave the chips alone in front of me as this was no limit.
After the 2 players had folded the dealer told me he wasnt bothered about the other player, as he had a tell on him, and knew he was going to fold.
Well I was nearly speachless, and if you know me, that is nigh on impossible.
So I politely said "will you leave the tells on players to me and ill leave the dealing to you "
(omitted actual swearwords as this is before the watershed )

This Opinion is shared and understood by all card room managers. Don't you dare give up Yogi we will triumph one day LOL My own feeling is that poker is growing to such an extent that at some stage casino's will part with card rooms and be run as a seperate entity (i.e. Gutshot's) and purely be run for the poker players! Our experience and persistancy will pay off, and we will be able to do our jobs (which we love) on higher wages and with the attitude that we deserve. Reputation at the moment is highly sort after, so we have to do the best with what we have got at the moment! If that means taking crap from money men, then so be it. I am in the unusal position that MY money men seem to want poker, but the pit bosses face is a picture when I tell him that I need 2 extra staff!!
