Possibly. Although I held AK and lost two thirds of my stack when I called an all-in bet, running into pocket queens. The 10 6 hand that finally got me eliminated happened after the flop. It was almost a family pot pre-flop. On the flop there was nothing higher than an eight showing, and I had a possible straight draw. Small blind made a smallish raise, and I pushed all-in for about 2500 chips. Everyone folded to the small blind who made a very quick call with 10 9 offsuit, which I thought was very strange. Didn't got a pair or draw or anything really. Anyway his kicker was bigger than mine, and I didn't improve. Went up to the Grosvenor after that and entered the £10 re-buy tournament, but my heart wasn't really into it by that time, so I just chilled out afterwards and had a few pints. Managed to introduce myself and have a brief chat to Ironside and Tikay during my visit, amongst other people. Had a great time, despite the poor result.

Well done Matty, unlucky there. I wanted you to go on and win after my chips went to you....

As soon as you said 'Oh Jimmy, Jimmy Jimmy' I knew it was either aces or kings. Oh well, stroll on Wales!!

How did Ironside do? He went a bit quiet after a few hours...

Just got home a couple of hours ago.
Think overall I played too tight, kept on turning down those coinflips.

From 4pm till 10pm I never had more than 10*bb, so just treading water waiting for the rush that never happened.
Spent the first few hours at table 12 and was mostly impressed (and gutted) with the quality of player. Two players were even tighter than me mind, so they were obviously too tight / card dead.

Finally got the monster K9 off in the sb, limp by the cutoff, I dwelled up a little, basically deciding whether to go allin there or do the old "stop n go".
Chose the latter and when I saw a flop of 35Q it looked like the choice I made was looking good...allin...cutoff had Q10 and turned another Q.
Hindsight showing the first choice would probably have took it down.

Still, going out day one meant sunday could be spent with my family before returning to the midlands....think that is a silver lining ;-)

Still a sick payout structure.

Still a sick payout structure.

It was publicised widely before the event with few dissenting voices. It was flattened significantly after Event 1 due to feedback received then

It was universally popular at the event

The package can't be split and goes to the winner, the 23.9% of the pool to the winner of the entry monies is way flatter than any festival. 15.9% to 2nd and 9.5% to third.

10% of the total field was paid and the top ten each received ten times their buy in

If there is negative feedback, we'll of course refine further for Event 3.

I know it was known before hand, still way too top heavy IMO though.
