this has got me thinking. when ever I've been on the other side of this situation I've always given them the chance to get their connection back - folded to their bb, taken my time in making my move to give them time to get back - am I the only mug that does this?
I wait for a few hands, then Im sorry but im in there...trouble is you risk the chance of them reconnecting when you have jack and you are back to square 1.
It depends the game to be honest.
If its an MTT then the guy was disrespectful not to wait for a while.
If its an STT and im the underdog then too right im going to go for it...but then again it still depends on the game.
I would clean out muppets and wait for the nice players to reconnect.

Normally I spend my life trying to be a nice guy. I don't believe in winding people up on the tables ( unless they've upset me
). I don't beat up grannies, & I try to remember my mum's birthday. And I play poker for fun.
That doesn't mean I'm not trying to win. If I ever outdraw anyone I don't offer to give them their chips back. If they outdraw me, that's the game. There is luck involved, good & bad. Being disconned is bad luck, but it happens to all of us sometime. You were just hugely unlucky when it happened to you.
But you have to take advantage. That's what the whole idea of the game is. Take advantage of every edge you have. You're not being personal. Poker isn't a 'nice' game. I'd expect my best mate to do it to me, & I'd do it to him.

some sites allow time for disconnections when you get to the business end of tournaments and some don't. Whilst it can get annoying on pokerstars sometimes that you have to wait 4 minutes on the first hand, then 2 minutes on the second hand then 60 seconds everyhand from then on while the player reconnects it does give the disconnected player every chance to return and still have chips. Given that they have enough time to get reconnected i feel no guilt in stealing their blinds in the interim!!

I too consider myself a "nice guy" and so it depends on the opponent(s) for me. If it's someone I know, such as a fellow blonde, then I will give them every chance to get back. If not then my competitive instinct rules and it's steal steal steal!!
Most people usually get back fairly quickly so it doesn't affect the game much anyway.
If they don't come back quickly they tend not to come back at all, in which case their chips are up for grabs anyway!

Surely it's minimum raises only though to eliminate this possibility should they reconnect?

I agree.
If it was a blonde comp I think I'd wait - but only to avoid any come back!

Seriously, good for you.
At the heart of poker is the idea that we're trying to take each others money. Why would you not do this when afforded a legal oppurtunity to do so.
Would probably wait in a blonde comp, but that's different. At the heart of them is not to make loads of wonga, but trying to bust yer pals with 47o.

Would wait in a blonde comp, or heads up with a player i knew, otherwise a min raise everytime. Virtually all other players will do this.
