The players are milling and slowly taking their seats - another smaller sellout here in Luton, which we can hopefully cover fairly substantially...

Nick was here nice and early, and we've watched a few names you'll know drift through the doors, including Joe Grech, who wants to "let the world know Joe the Joker is here!" and Stuart Rutter, the brothers Khajuria and Ali Mallu.

Any minute now, expect actual news of play, and after a short interlude (during which I will haggle for the full seating arrangements) a list of all runners...

First Minute elimination News Now:

Jim Reid bites the early dust as his Aces (we think) fall to Bad Girl...one down, 96 more to go... I'll get some quotes from the doubled lady momentarily.

The Bad Girl story, then:  She called a preflop raise from Jim Reid with .  Flop:  Two Clubs three clubs - couldn't be much better, then.  On the flop she just called Jim's 600.
Turn:  Now she check-raises from 700 to 1,700, and calls the subsequent re-raise (+2,500) (albeit with some hesitation)...
River:    Now Jim moves in, and call - her Ace flush took it down, and Jim just mucked his hand and went off home.  She says, "I think it might be bad play/call, but I gamble..."

Sid Harris is OUT -

Saw him standing up and putting his coat on so rushed over like the vulture I am:  He held against -
The board:  and another unimportant card.

Odd hand, as reported by Dan Samson, involving Ryan Fronda and directly-left-neighbour Paul Higgins:

Ryan raised to 300 preflop, call from Paul.  Flop brought three clubs .  Ryan checked, Paul bet 800, call.
Turn:    Ryan checked, Paul bet 1,200, call.
River:    Ryan now bets out 1,500, gets re-raised a further 2,000 and flat calls.

Although speculation is that Paul Higgins was betting a house of Threes, the flat call on the river was pretty unfathomable, as Ryan held for the second nuts...

I cede the floor to Michael McCool, who "ran this great bluff against this Scandinavian, Norwegian played against his mate the other day..."  And here it is, in abbreviated form:  Totally blanked out when the preflop action was being described.  Flop:  .  Matey checked, he bet 300, called.
Turn:  .  Matey checks, McCool bets 600, call.
River:  A spade (scare card and a half).  Matey now bets out 1,600, but Michael raises another 3k and gets his opponent to lay down his set of Queens.

And then shows him two hearts .

"And then he totally went on tilt..."

How is it a great bluff? He has a st8.....

You misunderstand (or you're winding me up) - "a spade" is not the same as Ace of spades.  And if I were to type in , that would happen.   Smiley

Sorry i misunderstood.

If i wanted to wind you up i will do a lot better than that!

Now can i please have the chip counts for everyone whose last name is 6 letters long, ty.

So, recently out is Malc-M - which is a shame as he seemed to be enjoying 'chatting' with tablemate Paul Moss.
Malcolm, "Ruling, please!"
Paul, "Can we have Malcolm F-off back to London?"
pause
Malcolm, "Ruling, please!  Put on blonde - Fatmarra gets his chat banned."

But Malcolm is now railing, after he made his final raise (shortstacked) on the button with the perfectly nice .  Jeff Kimber called with his , and the rest went in on the Ten-high, two clubs flop, as you may expect.
