British Comps start on time? We wish........Fat chance of that, I regret to say. It's scandalouly unprofessional that the great majority of British Cardrooms continually fail to get comps started on time.

As to tipping the dealers, I'm all for it.

My local (Leeds Moortown) has never had a comp start late in the 20+ times I been there. If you not there on time tuff. I thought this was the same across the country? I guess not.

Well a big up to Moortown, a rarity indeed if they start promptly. Stanleys at Notts do likewise, & Grosvenor Blackpool used to in Yogi's days (may still do, but not been there for a while) but not many do.

I'm all for tipping the dealer too.... There are some who have a face like the proverbial slapped behind and tipping may mean that they have to work a bit on there people skills and have conversations with people rather than the Lurch type response found in some of the dealers whee the standard answer is a "Urhghhhh"..
After saying that the majority of dealers i come across are only too happy to chat when you put a bit of effort in as well ,as long as it doesnt detract from the game...The knock on as well is that soem of the players may have to chat as well ...winners all round!

To be fair, most Dealers are warm & friendly, it just takes a bit of effort fom both sides. I have this strange method which seems to work - I say hello. Seemingly a long-forgotten tradition.
