Newcastle United.

They have a couple of signings in the pipe line; and they have bought very well already this close season.

Arse, Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle will all be challenging for 3rd/4th next season.

Owen stays fit and Martins stops going AWOL they'll do well.

Okay... I'm on Newcastle. I can't help myself. Every May I am dissapointed at under achievement and every July I'm back expecting the world again!!! I have thought about it this year and if we avoid any major injuries I think we stand a really good chance. We did the double over Spurs last year (though they did absolutely batter us at there place for twenty minutes). I think Dawson is shakey at the back and I dont think tottenhams midfield does enough (with the exception of lennon at times). They plugged the biggest hole at left back but hopefully the combination of reliance on Berb and the rotation of the other strikers will restrict them over the season.

Obviously we need a top left back and another centre back but with that then I do fancy us for it. We have every type of midfielder and a set of striking 4 as good as any in the league - though as with tottenham, i'm not sure how you keep 4 top strikers happy!

Roll on August 11!!!

You cheeky Geordie!

Man4Man Spurs' squad is far superior to yours!

Across a 16 I think its fairly even - 22 your right. Your lacking a top class keeper!!
It'll probably come down to how good the three or four more to come into Newcastle are and how we adapt Big Sam's grit in away games.

Across 16 - LOL!

Only Given and Owen get into Spurs' starting XI.

Maybe Duff or Zog..

Forget Butt, Dyer or Barton ahead of Zokora, Lennon and Jenas.

Owen is class. But this season is make or break; does he still have it...?

I have to dissagree
I'd much rather have barton than zokora, as a footballer he is pretty class and zok had a bot of a dissapointing season, I'd much rather have dyer than Jenas aswel, to be fair, i reckon i'd only take Lennon, but even then Duff is just as good if not better when he gets into gear

Zokora/Butt = Zokora

Dyer/Lennon = Lennon

Jenas/Barton = Jenas

Last season Jenas scored more goals than Barton, was injured more, never took the clubs penalties and was in the England squad more /won more caps.

No brainer!

edit: It was no coincidence that as soon as Jenas got back from injury, Spurs' were the 2nd most inform team from February>end of the season.

You simply do not know how good he is.

He isn't Kaka, but I would take him over any Newcastle CM.

He is definitely a player you would "love to hate" I've been there; done that already.

But the stats speak for themselves. He is still only 24 and if he develops his game late; like Lampard, then he will become a very good Midfield player.

I'd have Berb and King in our team from Tottenham, thats it - but I think thats because I don't see much between the 16's. If I see a Tottenham team sheet with Jenas in it against Newcastle I am pleased.
