It was clockwise for me and anti clockwise for my wife, at the same time. I could not see where she was coming from.

But after several munites, if you look in the corner of your eye, you can almost choose which way she turns....

BTW the pic of the 2 next to each other drove me nuts. One would change mid turn then I would look at that and the other would change direction.....

Good though.,.,

Clockwise - and however much I try, I cannot see anti-clockwise at all.

Two versions (at slightly different speeds).

Cover up one image then the other. You will find that seperately they go the same way but togeter they appear to go oppositely.

The shadows at the bottom would both be going the same way if it was the same image just at different speeds.  One goes from left to right, and the other from right to left.

Correct!

The fact that one of the files is labelled "rev" is a bit of a clue too Wink

Depends which side of the brain you predominantly use apparently.

The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

That's what it says on the site it's on, but it's pseudo-science and arbitrary attributes.  The fact that you can see it going different ways at different times shows that it's other factors that determine which way it spins.

Try scrolling up the page to the image, and then scrolling down.  That sometimes makes a difference.  Or if you focus to the left or right of the image.

It's a clever optical illusion.

Wow, sorry to bump an old thread, but just had an epiphany with regards to this. I find I can now choose which way I want the girl to spin by lowering my eyes to just the bottom half of the body for a couple of seconds and telling myself that it is spinning a certain way. Then I look at the whole picture again and it will continue to spin that way until I repeat the switch process.

Totally amazing though.

I wonder if you extract all the images from the gif in sequence order which way it's spinning...
