Well done Burnley on beating our kids

LOL, i love this when teams lose, there 11's Pele's when they win...

as they were twice this season already v Sheff U and Wigan

the next best things or reserves/kids...depends what story suits what you want to tell!

Dont really mind who we get TBH. I think I would prefer a premiership side so our kids get more experience of playing against better players.

Not reallly Rich, I think all Arsenal fans refer to them as kids/reserves. It just makes us laugh when people try to take the piss out of our kids losing. I dont think many Arsenal fans will be gutted that we are out of the league cup, just a little dissapointed that we will not see more of these fantastic youngsters.

Its just when we win in the league cup everyone, not just Arsenal fans, say how great they are or as you put it next bext things but when we lose fans of smaller clubs take the piss as though it is our 1st team that have lost and "want to stick it in our eye" lol or find it very funny. I think the funny thing is when these smaller teams field their strongest teams to take it as seriously as possible because it is the only way they can qualify for the mighty UEFA Cup as they are not good enough to finish in the top 4 or 5/6, but I suppose just beating the drop and a good run in the league cup will be considered as a good season by some smaller teams.

Anyway best of luck to Burnley in the semis whoever they get but I would imagine that they would rather play Derby or Watford.  Wink

"Blah blah it was only our reserves/youth team blah blah blah"

Fixture list says Burnley v Arsenal ... not Burnley v Arsenal Reserves ... or Arsenal Youth team

Regardless of the team your unsporting whinge bag of a manager ( [  ]  how gracious he was in defeat last night) puts out, It is Arsenal FC that got beat.

Funny, but was it not only last year when Arsenal beat Burnley 2-0 in the cup, and Wenger had so much praise for Owen Coyle and Co. Wenger kept going on about how Owen was going to do great things with the club, so Wenger clearly saw this result coming.........no?

Wenger may have seen this result coming, I dont know, but he was never going to change his selection policy as we use the league cup to blood the young players and it has proved to be very successful. I am glad we use the cup for this purpose as we have had some great players come through and not had to spend £££M's to be languishing in the bottom 5 and only 4 points from the bottom.

His team selection is not what i was referring too Dan, i was referring to his unsportingness with regards this loss as Kev rightly pointed out.

However, with regards this current crop of youngsters, you will make about £10M or so when you sell them on to smaller teams, or even championship teams. These boys are good yes, but they ain't good enough to win this premiership or a european trophy which is what a team like arsenal is all about, anything less is below their standard, for that you really must do as you said you wouldn't need to, and thats spend millions.

Can you name the last team that won the premiership without the team costing £100M+, or even £150M+

Tough one tbh Rich,

Like you say Ramsey and Wiltshire definetly. I really like the look of Wiltshire he reminds me so much of Fabregas at that age when he has the ball. Ramsey also looks as though he will mature into a great player. Also Carlos Vela is going to be a real class act, I am actually surprised more is not said about him. I expect these 3 to be sure things and posssibly feature in the league this season too. They will also probably be in the FA Cup team.

Maybes - Fran Merida, Henri Lansbury, Mark Randell Kieran Gibbs. I fear Randell could be one of the players that leave Arsenal and go on and have a decent career at another Premiership side. Gibbs the same TBH, he is a midfielder by trade but has played, and played well at LB in the league cup. If he continues as a LB I think he may have to move as we have Clichey and Armand Traroe in that position.

Gavin Hoyte is another that may follow his brother's suit.

Unlikeys? The lad that played Centre Half last night Paul Rodgers may struggle, didnt look good at centre half last night supposedly plays as a RB but I think he would leave before Hoyte. He would not have played had Djourou and Song not played v Chelsea. I really rate Djourou but Im not sure you can class him as a youngster anymore as he has had quite alot of 1st team experience.

I also think Jay Simpson is an unlikely too. I know he scored 2 goals in the last round but he is 20 soon and I think he is along way behind Vela and Bendner who are a simalar age to him.
