I missed the Victorians at 9pm on the bbc as well, sigh!
I'm not sure an eastenders spin off counts as culture though

Darwin studied theology at Cambridge to become a minister. He also wrote that he believed that natural design proved that god exsisted. He was actually quite religious. So I guess you are saying Darwin was right, God exists?

Proper education has rendered religion virtually obsolete in Britain and a variety of other countries throughout the world, there are +'s and -'s to this but overall it has to be a good thing.
It will be a massive step towards ending conflict in the world when the Americans (Obama is almost certainly too intelligent to actually be religious but for obvious reasons he must pretend to be) and the Middle East catch up.

Which creationist workbook did this come from?
Yes, he originally studied to be a minister before dropping out, but once he started seriously considering evolution in the course of the 20 years or so it took him to write Origin of Species, he became about as atheist as it was possible to be in the mid 1800's. And there's fairly vast amounts of documentary evidence (letters, diaries, etc) to prove that. So yes, Darwin was right, God probably doesn't exist.

Lots of evidence to say he did / did not believe in God. That was the point of my post, no one really knows. I suggest you read his autobiography the whole way through.
Very few things in life can be confirmed as Facts hence why a little faith is required
funny eh.

Darwin's autobiography electronically.
Religion, regardless of whether it is a positive or a negative influence on humans, is a stunningly flawed concept. In any other field if there is absolutely no evidence for something it is assumed not to exist.
Thanks in part to Darwin's work we will eventually evolve to a position where we don't need religion and can live without this unneccesarry delusion.

Which version of the autobiography is that? The one published at his death with the god-denying bits removed for Victorian sensibilities, or the one published 100 years later with all the original bits in.

I'm sorry, but there is
a lot
of evidence to say a started out believing in God and he winded up not believing that any god existed. You don't need faith when have facts. FACT

If people didn't need faith then it seems strange so many people look for one. Equally it's strange that so many people spend their lives seeking ways to disprove faith and religon.
I say let them believe in what they want, who are we to piss on someones fire?

no one will stop you believing what you like - but dont make things up just to suit your arguements There is lot of factual documentation re Darwin - he certainly didnt believe that god created the world etc!!!!!! He wrote and documented much of his later life in diaries! We are fortunate he had such foresight!
what makes me laugh is if someone made this up today they would be 'mad' - yet people freely believe in a baseless faith/religion! Look at the Moormons - plain idiocy what they believe in - that God returned to ...................... America (oh yeah) in the 1800's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW - did i tell you Elvis bowled up at my house in the middle of the night and we had a beer! It was nice!
