The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

38 Heid.

Tighty - by popular demand, cancel the Music & Film rounds - ohh, & the Poker Round, we must give the girlies & Scots a chance - and add Trains, Cats, Racehorse Breeding, & The World's Most Interesting Bridges.

My brother was a stable lad in Lambourne for about 10 years and my sister's father in law was the head groom for Lord Caernarvon's thoroughbred stable, so the racehorse one is fine. I have 4 cats. My dad is a train nut, and the bridges -how many can there be?

I'm fine with those rounds....

I am delighted to announce that there are questions on two of these universally popular subjects

because of course Music and films are enjoyed by comparatively few people!!!

Lord Caernarvon? Her Majesty The Queen's Racing Manager many moons ago, if I'm not mistaken. Posh bloke.

Yeah that's him .. this was the stud farm..my sister got a tithe cottage out of it for a while on Highclere estate.

Right on the edge of watership down - very nice, lots of squashed rabbits though.

I'm a right yokel really.

Yes, Major Dick Hern. There was one ALMIGHTY furore when they sacked the poor fella without good reason. Major Hern had a riding accident much earlier, & had been in a wheelchair for years, but had become an astonishingly successful Trainer, & that annoying little Scot, (arent they all?) Willie Carson, rode for him for many seasons.

At the time, Lambourn, Ballydoyle & Newmarket were THE only places to train Group horses, but I hear they train them in all sort of weird places these days, including Dubai, ffs. Dubai! The Sheiks & Arabs will be buying horses & stables next.
