The reason its the weakest draw in a long time is because the new playoff Structure in qualifying

It puts 2 good teams together in the qualifying e.g Arsenal celtic, fiorentina v sporting. So the small countries, who dont have a team in it all ready (eg Romania, cyprus, isreal, hungery etc) dont have to play teams like Arsenal and Athletico to get in. Means that Pot 4 will be really weak for years to come if they keep this qualifying structure

Rangers got a great draw. Dont underestimate that Romanian team tho. Look at Cluj last year, romanian football is on the up, they will be tough over there i reckon

I think it's meant to be like that to give weaker nations the chance to get stronger instead of shutting them out. The champions league is all about money and if you are from a big country with loads of tv fans you got/get more places.

Bring back the European cup.

I think Liverpool V Lyon and Chelsea V Athletico look tasty

The surprise team in our group will be Fiorentina. Out of the pot 3 sides they are the one I wanted to avoid the most. I really like them as a team and will be awkward to defend against.

Couldn't disagree more.

Arsenal (who were 4th) are playing 3 respective champions and will walk their group. That says it all.

you think they will walk it against Alkmaar, Olympiakos and Standard Liege???

Looks a very difficult group to me.

Arsenal are from a league who have had the maximum number of participants since the inception of the champions league. During that time Arsenal have qualified 12 times in a row (i think). This makes it easier for an experienced team to cope with and also there isn't the fear associated with teams who struggle to qualify every year.

Teams who are not regulars in the champions league also then struggle to sign the best players.

The champions league might be good to watch but it does limit the competition somewhat compared to the old european cup.

You'll be telling me it's right the German champions were in pot 4 whilst the runners up were in pot 1 and the 3rd place team were in pot 3.

It's run in a way to support money clubs even allowing for the amendments this year helping a little.

Yes.

Leige are good at stiffling teams. AZ play some good football and that'll be a great match to watch. But Arsenal not finishing top? Very unlikely.

It's obviously based around the big clubs and money, I cant deny this. And for the record I don't like the ranking system. And the German champions being in pot 4 is a perfectly valid point.

But it's a whole other argument to "Arsenal shouldn't be in the competition and the Hungarian/Kosovan/whichever champions should".

Yep, bad result for Liverpool. Will still qualify.

Can't understand why Naismith dived when it was easier to score @ 0-0. Rangers fans must fuming at him?

Fiorentina were organised and have some good players but they are weaker than the English champions league teams. Probably more Everton/Spurs standard. The first goal was simply bad defending 3 defenders hold a line and 1 makes that line useless.
