Sorry to open your eyes here but they have been around in their droves for years. It is only because of the internet that it seems it is on the increase.
fyp
NO trust me , no longer are youngster embarrassed to admit it happened to them..nowt at all to do with the internet. No longer shamed to believe it was their fault
but in fact it happens I think in 1 / 5 house holds in your street.
really? that seems ridic high
This.
20% seems ridic and I'd like to see the statistics behind that claim.
Cant show them as trusted the informer. But hey, can one really trust a doctor?
So all we have is "Someone who works in the industry told my sister and she told me so it must be true, the world is riddles with peados and abused kids so draconian legislation must be introduced"
Doesn't fly with me...not without seeing some stats.
Did I say that Boldie. No.

No, but the statistic is not reliable just because someone told a family member. If it really was the case that 20% of all households in the UK will have an sexually abused kid in it it'd be all over the papers...or at least the internet and this is the first time I have heard this number...it would really suprise me if this turned out to be accurate.

What I do believe is that it is far more common than many folk like to believe. It's a sick world in which we live in and screening aint going to stop it happening.

Also, like previous post i did, I had to be screened to care for my own Grandson, Darren didn't? Yes screening will highlight previous convictions, so can be beneficial, but if one has previous why the hell are they allowed out. Because of THEIR human rights?

no, not because of their human rights, it's because it's common sense not to sentence someone to never be allowed out of prison for an offence that would otherwise get them 6 months.

On keyboard rant mode. Been away all weekend, can't shut down. Arghhhh
World must be set to rights before page 6 of thread.
I should make it clear when I rant about H&S is that it's very rarely the Health and Safety Executives fault directly. Most of the madness and the rules come out of the arse of companys legal departments who are scared of being sued in this compensation culture and timid local education authority who are worried about protecting their own jobs at all costs and don't give a shit about how difficuly they're making anyone elses.
That e-coli farm thing that was in the news today is a prime example of blame culture. oooh, is it the farms fault, should they have been closed sooner? Whos to blame whos to blame? Lets find out to get a story. They'll prob get fired or go out of buisness (whichever is applicable) but it's not my job and people are watching so who gives a shit.
Do I want them to get fired? No actually, because then I might have another story for another day when I ask "Why not!"
Perhaps the parents should have supervised their kids more? This might be the case but we all know they can't be watched every minute of the day. Should the parents have impressed upon their kids the importance of washing their hands after petting the animals. Most likely, but it's not always easy. (Hey, maybe they didn't because there's so much fking legislation out there they don't think there kids can get hurt so they don't have to worry about thinking too much)
I'm defo not condemning the parents btw. fk me, we all make mistakes, and hindsight is wonderful thing. Then there's the fact that all I know about the case is what the beeb told me and that's worse than knowing fk all tbh.
E-coli is a sexy word in the news because there's a particular strain of it that kills people quite efficiently. My understanding is that most of the time it just makes you very sick. Hopefully it's not the death death strain this time and everyone involved gets better.
Fk my life if one day I can't take my kids to a petting zoo because someone decides to close all them all or if they've gone out of buisness because the BBC have been scaring most people away with sexy death words like e-coli though.
