this all sounds great. I'm tempted to have a 'kids' party for grown ups

Most popular ones were 'the whales and the fish' and 'traffic lights'.
Goggled these with no joy.
How do these work Cos?
Wales and the fish is essentially British bulldog but we weren't allowed to say that and this is a bit more friendly to young kids. Depending on the size of the party, pick 1/2/3 kids (whales) to stand in the middle. At one side all the other kids (fish) will be. Get the whales to shout 'We are the whales of the deep blue sea', then get the fish to shout 'we are the fish and you can't catch mee'. Blow a whistle and then the fish have to get to the other side without being touched by a whale. If they get touched on their way across they become a whale too. Last fish or two win and become the whales for the next game.
Traffic lights is where you put different coloured mats, we had special ones for the game but u can use hoops, bean bags, even bits of card of a certain colour. Make sure you begin with more than the number of kids. When you blow your whistle the kids have to run around. When you next blow the whistle, shout out the name of some different colours and kids have to stand (one on each) on the correct mats. Eliminate by removing some of the mats during the bit where they run around and shouting less and less colours etc...
I'll try and think of some more.

Got anywhere like
Monkey Mates
near you? Could work out pricey if there's a lot of children, but great fun.

I think they are just so commonplace now.
10 years ago they were a novelty, now a kid sees one and thinks "so what?"
