Yes we've underperformed and don't deserve a thing this match but it is nice to see this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/8462304.stm

Harper has long been inept and it is said he did not turn the sound up on his TV to hear a snick that was clearly audible on the replay

For that matter, the umpire missed it from 22 yards away

Snith claimed "the noise could have been the bat twisting in my gloves"!

I think this shows why the referral system is kind of pointless - if they're all gonna cheat a bit and not walk then the game is imperfect - so just let the umpiring be imperfect as it always has been - what does it really matter ? England will look like extreme cry babies if they follow this protest through - its just ridic

What a joke of an umpire Darryl Harper is. He has made numerous mistakes this series while in the middle. Now we have a situation where he is reviewing a potential wicket, where the appeal is clearly for caught behind. In what world does he not think it turning the volume up on the equipment might be a good idea.

To be frankly honest I think he should be taken off the international panel of umpires for pure incomptence.

He's said on his facebook that the volume being turned down isn't true. Apparently the feed the South African TV company gave him didn't have the sound on it. Hoggad was commentating and apparently said "that's not out there is no sound". Harper reviewed and gave the same decision and then the South African TV company found the footage that Sky had been playing with the sound and Harper was blamed for not hearing it.
It's messed up whatever happened.
