Tournament report!
Nice and short...
Started off quite badly. Wsa down to 5.2k but then almost tripled up when I had KJ on a JJxKx board. Other guy had the J and someone else was in with us til the river.
Hovered around the 15-25k level. Then at 400/800-100 raised to 2100 with AA playing ~22k. Guy to my left said "power poker" and pushed his ~27k stack in. I snap obv and hold vs his A2o. Knock a few more out and I make day 2 with 62,000.
Win a few more pots and am up to ~100k at 1000/2000. Then my biggest pot of the day was getting KK in vs Key's TT. The action as I remember it was nirvana raised to ~5k. I 3bet to ~13k. James 4bets to ~30k. I jam. At first I was surprised with TT getting it in this deep here but upon reflection there was a bit of history on the table that to me justifies it. I'd previously 3bet/called a 35kish stack with 88. And nirvana had a few hands ago raised and folded to a 3bet. My range probably isn't particulary tight here given this putting TT in decent shape. I guess my shove changes that slightly but by now a third of his stack is in pre.
Then dwindled a bit as lost a few small to medium pots.
Then lost an annoying pot to the eventual winner. I raised to 6900 utg at 1.5k/3k with 99 playing ~120k. No callers except for BB. I cbet ~9.5k when checked to on the AT4cc board. I get check raised to 25k. This was one of those spots where I just felt I was good. But I didn't like calling. He was an aggressive player and I might have had more resistance - though I guess my line would have looked strong so hard to bluff me. And I wanted to shove. The problem is shoving at this point is turning my hand into a bluff. And if I do get called i'm likely in bad shape with very little chance of improving. In the end I just decided to fold and say bye to the 16k. I then get shown Q4ss for my troubles meaning I should have gone with my instinct. Maybe it's hindsight but I had a feeling he was making a move on me but I didn't fancy risking what was still a playable stack.
Then dwindled even more as I simply couldn't win a hand. Ended up shoving over a raise with AQ with 80,000 left at 3k/6k. BB insta reshoves and original raiser folds. I'm against 88 and lose the race
