Tank, quick question, how do you manage to have such an odd figure for your winnings? +$7,572.8 total, are the prize structures for these not split into whole dollars?

Well spotted

Looked into it and I believe it's due to a very minor accounting error on Day 2 stemming from the fact that I did not have an exact round number of $'s in my account on Jan 1st but treated it as if I did.

Perhaps, just to keep things right, I'll knock $0.30 off the total on Days 58+. Not sure if it's that or $0.20 to be added, but I'll go with the subtraction.

Day 57 "Rod friendly" Results
  Cheesy : +$7,572.5 total

Sark being aggresive is always good, are you meaning to loosen up aswell? I'm not sure if you should early on. It all depends on the structure and what your opponents play like of course, but generally the pots are not worth getting involved in the first few stages.

You can't win these things in the first half hour, but you can certainly lose them. Just before the final table is when you should be stepping things up a notch IMO.

Thanks Jezza and Tank for your comments.

Yea, I mean loosen up aswell.  I hear every poker commentator and almost every poker book discuss 'switching gears'. I am not really sure how to do this in an effective way.

I always try to switch gears and adapt to how my opponents are playing. I think as I usually play $10 buy-ins, the players tend to play in the same way throughout the game. So switching gears can sometimes be hard. In a section in Super System 2, DB talks about adapting to how the other players at the table are playing. He makes this sound as if it is the easiest thing in the world to do, but for someone such as myself, lack of experience can sometimes make this difficult to get right all the time.

I think I must have the world record for fourth place finnishes in the 18 player sit n go's on Stars..lol.  It would be nice to win some of these events. Playing the $3 or $6 sit n go's are alot easier to play. Atleast in these I can get in the money most of the time. But I still feel that playing sit and go's at the low levels I am at the moment, there is alot of gambling. Some guys play whacked out hands.

Playing $1/2 Limit Hold-Em, I feel is a more consistent game. I can sit and wait for a premium hand. The blinds don't kill me and there is alot more time to observe how my opponents are playing. I also have notes on everyone, so I know them. Of course these are not always accurate as it is impossible to say what mood someone is going to be in on any given day. I am a member of Poker School Online and am working my way through Rolf Slotbooms cash game leasons. I never play the 'play money' games on the site, I only use the extensive leasons available on the site. I think I will give up sit and go's and play Ring Games for six months. After I have improved at these, then I may consider some of the higher limit sit n go's if my bankroll allows me to.

I don't really know if it is possible to be a successful online player and just play ring games. But this is when I feel most excited about playing. If I could freeze time, I would be able to learn Ring Games ,MTT and  STT . But unfortunately it will be one at a time for now. Its cool, I am fairly young so by the time I hit fifty I should have it all sorted out  Cheesy

Thanks.

Thankfully, when it comes to online poker, there is something for everyone.

There is absolutely no law that says you have to "do it all"; so if concentrating on just one discipline of poker means that you are enjoying the game more and making money then how can that be bad?

Although wading in at several disciplines and finding which one you like best, before pursuing it with detailed vigour, is always a good plan too.

Day 58 - The second tournament I entered was a $110+9 six-seater. Registering for it was an accident. Never mind, I thought, will try to make the best of it.

I was shocked by some appaling play. A couple of players threw their chips at me and I ended up winning it. This made me think I'd been wasting my life playing 9-man STTs. The six-way action looked lucrative to say the least.

I played another four, walking away with a couple of 2nd places. With 2/3 fish in them, there is oodles of value in these things.

The problem, as I was soon to discover, is that with 2/3 fellow shark at the table, there is no value whatsoever. Multi-tabling, I might have even been -EV (shockeroonie). From the following eight I attempted, I only harvested myself one lonely cash, and even that was a piddily 2nd place.

No more six-seaters for me thankyou, I'll stick to what I know.

Settling into the 9-man $105s I played an ok game. Managed 30 of them on top of the 13 disastorous six-pacs. I even dabbled in one cheeky wee $55 game. Let me tell you of it's bizzarity.....

I set a new personal record for speedy winning of a STT, 29 minutes!
We didn't even get to the 100/200 25ante level.

It was great fun, within the space of seven hands the random number generator bestowed upon me AA, QQ, AA and 99. Each one knocking a gob-smacked player to the rail.
Heads up I finished the, quite grateful, short-stack off with J8o. (He hadn't played a hand all game)
Most fun I've had in a Sit n Go for a while.  Even MikkyT could have won that tournament.  Cool

Day 58 Results : +$859 (+$8,431.5 total)
ROI : 10.6% after 1210 tournaments    (13*$110s/109*$105s/1088*$55s)
VPPs 33,360
FPPs 78,267

Not too shabby at the end of the day after pissing away pest part of $1k six-pacing to begin with. You'd take $800 every sesh if you could.

tank is still hungry for that day with a comma in it though (+$x, xxx)
Close just isn't good enough

Discalimer - Mikky is a good player, I have a lot of respect for his game.

Just noticed, a cheeky wee milestone has just been reached on Day 58.

33,333 VPPs surpassed. So I'm over a third of the way to SuperNova now.

Tank,

Still a great read.  Well done on the 33,333 and I hope the other comma arrives soon.

Keep it up.

4 wins in a row a few times, never five, now that I six table, it's harder to keep track of what constitutes in-a-row.

As for how many blanks in a row, I deliberately don't keep tabs on such things, self indulgence of that sort can bring about no good.
I'd estimate around a dozen-ish.

Tank,

Get out of my games!

Seriously though well done so far on the step up. Are you noticing much difference in standard of play at the $105's compared to the $55's?

Also, I assume you use Pokertracker to record your stats? If so how do you get on requesting tournament histories as it seems you can only get five tournie history's on one email? Does this mean you have to request about 12 a day and then individually request any tournie summaries that were missed out? Or is there a quicker method that I haven't noticed?

Good luck and keep going.

I'm doing a bit of a quest on the $20 + $2 STTs on Stars, out of interest what time do you find the best to play them?

Without a doubt I find the mornings in UK the best time.

Well done on your results so far!
