Wow, really sick to hear that, really hope they're OK.

Presumably it's way too much of a coincidence, for them not to have known he had just won a big amount of cash? I've always thought poker is so vulnerable to this kind of thing, though it's difficult to know what can be done about it really.

are the prizes of this size always paid out in cash?  luckily i dont need to worry about carrying around a £50k score or whatever but if win anything above 10k i guess i would want it via bank transfer if possible.

sure ben would have taken the round number in cheque and spare in cash, doesnt stop the attack though, unless the robbers inside guy is right up tot he cash desk checking what you got paid in.

yeah i just figured if it was standard practice to pay out majority of big wins in cheque would discourage this type of shit.  fking horrible as they are likely to have been in the place watching etc.

4 masked guys jumped out of a car outside big blue hotel when Ben and his mates got there and threatened them with knives.

They didn't manage to get anything (assume Ben wasn't carrying much/any money). Obviously shook up but no one hurt.

Yeah, the option of a cheque doesn't change the chance of an attack too much. In fact, it might almost be better to have a small amount in cash on you .

Presumably at least one of the guys must either have been in, or known someone in the casino, to know who had the cash?

Trigg's saying if you can hand over a bit of cash, they might accept and leg it, but if you can't, they might persist/not believe, and it could end up worse
