IMHO pub poker can be very much hit and miss skill wise and the variance is MASSIVE as a result.
I've played about 25% of the games in my local ( Harrogate ) pub poker league this year and seen all standards ...
all types of players turn up, from WSOP wannabees through to them who think facebook poker is like real life.
I try to treat it as a night out which may provide a small profit at the end but it has to be entertainment first and foremost
Most important I try to accept the 1 card river suck outs with grace, even when the drunk dances round the table shouting how he knew he had me beat

after all if I was really half decent I wouldn't be playing pub poker , I'd be cleaning up every night at DTD ( in my dreams )
