Over the last few weeks I have taken to BJ and taken a slight hit and this isn't due to my own stupidity or chasing, but due to other people's understanding of the game.

To cut a long story short, there is a Chinese couple on the end and they wasn't doing certain things terribly bad, but still not great. Having a slight gamble when they have 12 and the dealer having a 5 or 6, etc. Obviously them taking a card costing the table and so on, but of course there was once the odd occasion they did indeed take a card (when they shouldn't) and it save the table. But in my view, I'd have preferred them to play a normal game, instead of relying on luck.

Anyway, I got talking to a BJ fanatic and I was telling him stories of idiots who play and he replied with the same stories and so on. I said to him that I would be up for taking a couple of grand and play the BJ table if it was just me and him at the table, I said to let me know. I haven't seen him yet, but I think he might be up for it.

So, but in general terms do you think with 2 skilled players (it's not hard to be skilled at BJ), is it possible to make a few quid? I have made the assumption that it is.

Any other views for BJ players? I know the edge is of course with the dealer (0.05 or whatever it is), but I enjoy the thrill of BJ more than any other game in the world.

My advice is do not start playing blackjack for serious money, it is only a matter of time before you are on free tea and toast and get your own coat hook in the casino cloakroom. If you want to play and enjoy it so much then invite your mates round to your house for a blackjack night and you be the banker. Give em a few pints and play all night and you will see how the casino's work.

Jesus! What happened to this being a friendly forum?!

Aaron, The overwhelming evidence suggests the answer is no. There are loads of books about blackjack strategies and systems out there so take a look. Also, read a book called 'Thirteen against the bank' it might enlighten you.

Chinese couples without insane edges not playing GTO in box 6 or 7 can often fuck up the tables of course but often too their madness can be your friend. It's swings and roundabouts

Aaron you CAN beat blackjack but I fear given you haven't mentioned card counting, when the deck is shuffled and whether the dealer stands on soft 17 you haven't got a chance of winning.

Go and do some reading or watch this.

When I played blackjack in Vegas I turned $150 into $450.

The proof is in the pudding.

It's more likely that every premiership game this weekend is 10-0 to the away sides than me parting with £200

Sir. The cards are shuffled and placed in the shoe in a totally random order so it doesn't matter what the other players do, it only matters what you do.

For example, if all the other players at the table continued to draw cards until they bust, it wouldn't make the slightest difference to your chances.

If you do everything perfectly 100% of the time, the house will still have a 5% edge, which means that over time, you will lose.

If you play a less than perfect game, you will lose faster.

If you enjoy playing blackack and want to continue, then do so wth your eyes open. Accept the fact that you can't win, and you can't blame the other players.

If you play perfectly the houses edge is alot smaller than 5%.

More like 0.5%.

If you card count or shuffle track it is possible to have an edge at blackjack.

To offer a constructive example...

The next cards in order are 2 T A

Dealer showing a T.

Spewy player on last box has an 8. If he plays right then he gets 20 but the dealer blackjacks to bust the table.

But if he plays wrong and decides to stand then the table wins.

Can you still buy bots to play perfect strategy online blackjack Keith?

That sounds like a better way of playing the game than sitting in a casino depending on other boxes palying correctly too.

but that's doing the right thing and losing, that happens almost every orbit at a poker table and in other forms of gambling, but playing badly and losing is losing coz you are playing badly.

A pretty famous pro player is also one of the best blackjack players in the world.

He is incred at shuffle tracking. Saw him in action once. He could predict when aces were coming with unerring accuracy.

It was scary really.

There's loads of money to be made at blackjack, especially if you can get 21 a lot. Anyway, you enjoy the thrill of blackjack more than any game in the world so just hit them tables and win big $$.
