I'm off to play the 10am Mega Keith. These ones are the best of the lot. You and I would be among the youngest there - I mean who gets up at 10am?
it's incred watching the slow speed of the people entering the rio conference center 8am-10am. it's vegas people the only reason I am there to see it is i've been there 15 hours and i'm stuck so cant leave ldo.
we can peel pre keith then c/c flop, keeps his bluffs/2 outers in, by c/r we might struggle to get action from KQ (if he cbets that), by c/r A8 we are saying we think he opens super wide, cbets super wide and probably too thin and just doesn't fold to aggression on (what I assume is a rainbow board) dry boards. if he's just cbet folding a tonne we do take the pot down here, but we win the min from bluffs, and instantly stack ourselves vs all better hands of which all of them are in his range. we don't want to be in a spot where we c/r the flop he calls and our hand shrinks up and we're thinking about folding.
think with your experience you should be c/c'ing flop and re-evaluating, once you c/c and it comes with the 7 on the turn pairing up the bottom card and he bets again our hand wont look good and will relatively be a bluff catcher against all but the most ridiculous opponents. think using your experience there will be times when you can fold down the streets because you don't think he is capable of having many bluffs and has shown alot of strength.
Is his call of my c/r really standard?
I mean, if I have 70k, fine. (Altho if I have 70k I'm obv not raising the flop)
But he's getting very little in the way of implied odds. I've got about 20k behind and he's going to miss the turn 90% of the time.
it's 'speculative' and depends how he thinks you're ranging up your c/r here.
it's not going to be Qx, sets are hard, two pairs might c/c some %, you will have 3bet some stronger hands preflop that could be c/r on this flop. if you had top set after flatting you wouldn't now c/r as he can barely have any combos to continue. if you are c/r'ing as a bluff then you likely have KJ or KT type gutter ball hands which pairs are ahead of. Think this b/c is probably bad as you will more than not just be going for thinnish value (though I would by default assume that if you had an Ax hand it would be a stronger than A8 combo).
He doesn't know, but think it's pretty unlikely once I've c/r the flop I'm not going to be shoving the turn.
Obv the 7 is a terrible card not because I thought he had a 7, but because I feel ace/rag is a very likely holding for him and a9 is the only combo I'm losing to if he has ace x.
Meh.
I don't like his call at all.
A bloke as old as me is very unlikely to bluffing here and even if I am - he's gonna have to call 20k on the turn with bottom pair.

ya no value in poker erryones solid.
still think A8 is a bit thin to c/r, but don't agree with just because we've seen a flop with 30bb and have made top pair we're destined to be all in or anything. especially live where people make things so obvious.
def don't mind c/r flop check the 7 turn in your shoes. just would like to be a bit stronger on the flop.
either way we want people doing silly things, and we need that to be value in the comps, tis just a case of trying to get through the minefield of comedically (sic?) misplayed hands.

Yes, I agree I shouldn't have shoved the turn once the 7 came.
I'd kinda made up my mind that was the line I was taking once I'd check raised.
Think his flop call was worse though.

it's irrelevant how badly your opponent plays though, we wouldn't sit in the comp if we didn't think people would do sillys.
think putting it in on non 7 turns is kewl tis just one specific cards which is pretty eugh.
do you reckon he would bet call 88 or is it the 7 blocker that did him!?

I skipped the mini One Drop.
Fucking disgrace for the Rio to rake a charity tournament.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Would have played if $200 went to the charity, but only $111 to One Drop and $90 rake is plain wrong.
Dropped something in the One Drop collection box instead.
Playing the $1500 today. Let's go!

Depressing day.
Must have had the nittiest opentable in the whole tournament yesterday.
Didn't lose a player for the first four hours, which with only a 4500 starting stack is pretty much unheard of. Maybe only 2 pots with a yellow chip in the middle.
Finally got moved to much much better table where the boys were taking it turns to tell jokes and buying rounds of beers every time a waitress came near.
Moved there with only 3000 but got two doubles in the first orbit JJ > AQ and AA > KK.
Had about 13000 (average about 7k) when the bustout hand occurred at 100/200-25
MP opens for 500. I 3bet on the button to 1250 with TT. He calls.
Flop KT9 rainbow.
He leads out for 1200.
I make it 3100.
He shoves, I call.
He has AJ.
Immediate service on the turn. Q.

love the fact it's a water charity and rio gives out free bottled water, then refuses to allow you to recyle rofl

Sorry the diary has been a bit crap this year.
Been surprisingly dedicated all trip. Haven't bet $1 on a table game so far.
Discounting what happens in the main event I will be very disappointed if I don't go home a little less broke than I arrived.
Gone 3 for 3 in cash games and played 16 stts, and got something out of 13 of them - varying from outright win, 2 way chop or 1/2 chip saver. And really run good in last longers in the stts. Think I've only lost 2.
So could hardly be headed into the main event in better morale.
Good luck me!

Good to see you so happy in & around the Rio Tables Keith, you appear to be in your element, & that shirt pocket was bulging with your dollar wedge.
