To be frank, I wish ESPN had got the gig, much more professional coverage of US sports.

Big Cowboys fan

Giants spread +4 tomorrow night

Cowboys very new OL (mostly injured pre-season, so not a lot of time to gel) against one of the best pass rushes in football

Witten probably missing, big blocking help to OL normally too

Think the right spread is is bigger than +4, maybe +6

(in as much as week one is bettable at all in most games)

Dallas D, if as advertised, might keep it close which is a risk to buying the spread

Nice, that's nice.

We are getting Thursday night football all year this year as well. Presuming it is going to be status quo with ESPN getting Monday night football.

Saints Panthers week 2. Whatever the total yards line is, I'm taking the overs!

I've cross-posted this from the Fantasy League thread for the NFL fans/bettors who don't play in the league and presumably don't read the thread.  Sign up, sign up - the more the merrier, whether you want to play for free or for $20.

I've now set up 3 private leagues on ESPN's Pickem and Eliminator games.  Hoping to get a few more entries than last year, and this should appeal to the bettors out there!  Horneris bossed this last season, but there's enough talent on this forum to make this a really fun competition.

The 3 games are:

Pickskin Pickem - Straight:  A straightforward prediction game, just pick the winner of each game.
Pigskin Pickem - Spread: As above, but with a spread (i.e. one team is handicapped against the other).  Good practice if you like to bet in real-life, as chances are you'll be doing it against a spread.
Eliminator - Bit like the Last Man Standing football comp - pick one winner each week.  Get one wrong and you're out.

Happy to do it for bragging rights only, so anyone can join and play for free.  Optional entry fee of $20 for each if you fancy playing for money.

Links to the games are below.  Create an entry for each (you have to create a straight and a spread entry in Pigskin Pickem to play both versions) and then use the search function or the links to find the leagues as follows:

http://games.espn.go.com/nfl-pigskin-pickem/en/

http://games.espn.go.com/nfl-eliminator-challenge/en/

Password is tikay for everything.

bump for this ahead of tomorrow night

easy to create teams!

It was set to lock once the season begins but might keep it open to try and get more entries.

I think the Rams +8 with Skybet are a really good bet.  I like +7 also but +8 is a very good price.

The lines seem to have been bet into shape in a few games today, that line with Sky is such an old number now too as St Louis are favs +7. Just getting a bet on with them is a stumbling block tho.

Ssaw Hellmuth has had a 10k bet on denver winning over 8.5 games.

The first of my many amateur NFL questions is why, in a couple of sentences please?

Looking at the fixtures, anyone fancy the Jags going 0-16?

Not at all

Much underrated defense will keep them in games

4-12, 5-11 type team for me

Very good defense last year. young and talented

Peyton Manning, decent running game. Couple of decent receivers

One of the weaker divisions (Oakland, San Diego, Kansas) and 6 of the 16 games are in division

8-8 last year, though Tebow dragged the team over the line a few times

Seams a reasonable expectation to go 9-7/10-6 a year on...can't have them 12-4 though so if he wins it it won't be by much
