Howdy folks.

Jen and I have managed to find a nice spot in the press room. More importantly, it's nice and warm in here. I believe it's -7 degrees Celcius outside. Bloomin' freezing for a skinny chap like me. Give me sunny Brum any day of the week.

Anyhow, the comp is due to start at 3pm.

Blinds start at 25/50 with starting stacks of 10,000 and 60 minute levels.

As usual, this event was maxxed out pretty briskly. So even with the Laddies Cruise running simultaneously, there will be 300 players starting. I don't think that was ever really in doubt.

I've seen a few famous faces:

Joe Hachem
Chris Moneymaker
Pascal Perrault
Barney Boatman

I approached them for autographs but they didn't seem interested in taking mine.

Jen's just connected, so everything running smoothly...

... so far.

Yes, we're about to collect those free-drink-obtaining press passes and start to mingle with the players in advance of the tournament actually starting... So you've got an hour an a half before the action commences to get comfortable.

We are staying in a rather smaller, darker, colder hotel about 15 mins away, but the good news is we're moving here tomorrow and it's really very nice here indeed.  Spacious and cosy at the same time, with a pleasant press area and internet access (thank you Mr. Eric Jensen!)

A full list of who's playing today and who's playing tomorrow will appear as soon as we get it...

So far I only have a pic of Snoopy lounging in the lounge... but it will make it on in a minute.  We're flipping a coin to see who has to brave the sub-zero outside to get pics of the Casino, which is worth seeing.

Hehehehe, you'll have to go out in half an hour Jen to take a pic of "that new strange looking statue outside"!

Snoopy's been in the tournament area (not actually part of the casino which is downstairs) to bring you this shot:

Boy, I need to work of my photgraphy skills. Looks like I had shakey hand syndrome on that one shot of the cardroom. Thomas Kremser was present though. What a star!

Caught sight of Rob Hollink yesterday.

I believe Dave Colclough is located somewhere in the hotel. Rumour has it that he is entered into the competition, but will be in tomorrow's field.

and drum roll please.........

Sir Julian Thew of Yoyoness has entered the press room.
