Does it have to be 100 years + old or can it still be found/sold today?

Intrigued

It's less than 1,000 years old, but older than 100.

The particular item that was held is but there could be similar items being produced found w/e today

The object hasn't been crafted, so unless it's from an extinct species then I'm guessing newer ones could be found.

From the start, I've had a shrunken head in my head, but not being animal rules that out.

As you seem to have had it at work, would knowing your job be a clue as to what it is?

I said it can be considered animal although I was not 100 percent to sure. I work at a university *)
