Signing scorecard in golf.
Don't see what's up with that. It's another player that marks the card, you sign to say he got it right.
Perhaps there should be different rules for professionals and amateurs. It's a bit like my tennis-serve example. I can see a case for allowing amateurs to have two serves if they are struggling to even hit the target, or the game might never get going. That shouldn't mean that players in the professional game get two attempts so they can undermine the spectacle by blasting unstoppable power-serves, with a safety net if they miss. Similarly with golf, there may be a case for amateurs signing their card to keep control over things. Even then, if there is a genuine error, I don't see why the player always has to be disqualified instead of just rectifying the score if that is possible. For professionals, though, it is a daft rule. Everyone knows what the player's score was. Most of their games are on the telly. They should just make being the scorer part of someone's job and stop these stupid disqualifications. Also plenty of other nonsensical ways that a golfer can be penalised or disqualified unfairly.
