MVG's route to the semi's just gets even easier than it already was.

Huge game for Gurney and Webster in the next round worth way more potentially than just the £13k at stake prize money wise draw wise in future major events being in the top 16.  Although being stuck at 16 or 17 in a nightmare of constantly facing MVG in the last 16!  Bunting and Whitlock currently fill these spots.  Maybe thats why they both tanked this year to get out of the black hole rankings wise of that spot!

£38k minimum for the winner (£25k locked up already) and a possible top 16 spot in the order of merit given most of the players currently above them in the rankings have 'dropped' money this year at the worlds compared to what has fallen off from 2015 on the 2 year list.  Freeroll at £80k for whoever gets through and can beat MVG in the 1/4 finals.

The gap between 16th and 15th is very large relative to most other gaps in the rankings and maybe there is a bit of tanking going on around that level as people try to take a step backwards to bink a big cash to bypass the 16th/17th black hole in the rankings.  Trouble is the hole is so big now to jump from sub 18 in rankings to 15th or higher is going to take a huge cash (1/4's+) for most of these players even at the worlds.  Probably a final in any other TV major.  Going to be interesting watching this area of the rankings this year as MVG becomes more and more dominant.

1/2 lewis 2/1 barney but lewis will be much bigger.

fuck me just looked and it is a flip!!  Marathon bet got 1.96 Lewis.  Jesus.  That is big bet material.  Another over reaction to a decent average in a blow out game with no pressure.
