find cheap flights on the internet?

I know it sounds like a daft question, but I really don't know how to do it. You see, my problem is, it asks me to enter the date that I want to leave and return. Well I want to leave and return whenever it's cheapest, but it won't let me put that.

who are you looking to book with? if it's a budget airline then the general rule is the further in advance you book the cheaper the ticket so try travelling in 6 months if you're not bothered.

if you know roughly when you want to go, enter a date in the middle of your range. a lot of sites will give you flights/prices a couple of days either side. others have an option to select declaring that you're flexible on dates

On somewhere like easyjet or ryanair, try a date more or less when you'd like to go - they normally provide a previous day option, which leads to another previous day option - this way you can run back and forth to establish the cheapest day 'around' the time you had in mind

On a major airline - be sure to avoid all kids school holiday times or times near a mjor event in the place your heading for

good question tom,  its v frustrating at times    i have found.

my best tip is to try  someone like    easyjet  for ex        select   destinations       then itgives you a choice  of    calender view  with prices   letting you know the least cost options for that period.

The more flexible you are the easier it is to find flights.

I like to use flyscanners.com

I certainly think the cheapest way that I have seen when looking this up is to fly to America and get an internal flight.  Possibly New York.

Flying to Canada is another possibility.

Red, make sure you check the price includes check in and luggage as this can bump the price up.
