how exactly is the name of the biscuit pronounced?  I like to think of them as 'pleasant' biscuits coz i think it's a, erm, nice, name, but my mum told me when i was a nipper that you say it like the name of the french place.

My mum always use to call them after the French place and on the basis that Mum's are never wrong, we can only assume they are correct.

Fig biscuits are probably the only biscuit I have a problem being on the thread, worst biscuit ever, stayed at the bottom of our biscuit barrels for years because nobody wanted them. Die fig biscuits

stepping away from the shop bought varieties for a minute I've made these babies more than once.  The amount of chocolate they contain is pretty farcical - reckon they're probs close to a zillion calories each, but pretty damn heavenly
