Problem 1.

He re-raises a chunk pre and you call with a horribly marginal hand facing a re-raise.

Problem 2.

Quote- "His image is loose but he plays flops passively, if he hits, he check raises, if he misses he check folds most of the time."

Solution 1-  Combining the fact he re-raises preflop and leads out strong on the flop, what hands are you beating. His re-raising range and strength being displayed make this a clear fold imo. Stinks of AK.

Solution 2- You call flop bet and then K comes. Now you feel it is less likely he has a king and think your jack is good. You call, become pot commited and wonder why you play poker.

Solution 3- You raise, he re-raises. HE IS PASSIVE WHEN HE MISSES THE FLOP. Only thing ur beating is AQd. And not by much.

Shove pre, you cant afford to see a flop, miss and fold. Works better v another medium stack though.
5554  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: At what point do you bet this? on: January 01, 2007, 01:09:06 PM
Deffo bet monsters out, dont wait for river esp on draw heavy board. Charge them to hit, even when they are drawing dead, that way should they catch up on turn river, they think they are in business and are often pot commited. Otherwise, they get there for free and you earn no money.

In a tourney  i play it like Claimer

"ie any 2 from the push, and Ax from the SB"

Too easy. I think he needs JJ+ and AK to call.

Yep, thats very true. Thats why i fold, avoid marginal hands in cash games.
5557  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: Ignore the lucky river on: January 01, 2007, 11:59:04 AM
Depends on the player but i 4table those games and they are rocky.

When he raises on the flop i think he's probably protecting his hand, so AK/A10 likely, im ruling out K10 but with deep stacks he might be taking a shot to stack you if he thinks you will marrty an overpair.

The betting patter, particularly his call on the river lends me to think he has trip 10's.

Read a strong article recently by Negreanu who basically argued for only playing these pots for small amounts when out of position. In this type of game these horribly marginal pots are best dodged, gl tighty.

Im folding on the flop when he bets into me. In cash you get to see so many hands that flops need to fit or get the fuck out of there.

Also, i hate calling on that flop. You want to find out there and then if you are winning, raising is the second best play imo.If he has AQ/1010 pp below that he folds with that board.

You also want to determine NOW the strength of his hand. If he has AA/KK he will prolly flat call, trips he's all-in. Worst scenario is he has AK and A comes on turn= ur stacked.

Having immense respect for Paul and Flushy i read this thread and figured i'd give my pennies worth for shits and giggles.

I could go into a long analysis but tbh im never going to get pushers all-in range right. Personally, i have a few reasons why i think caling is wrong.

His stack is a huge chunk of mine. If i call and lose i have wasted chips that could later be used to double up with. If i do later double up i finally have the stack i need to avoid confrontation.

By calling i am forcing the hand to get to showdown.  In a sat like this i want to preferably chip away with my stack without any major risks. I want to play big pots with big hands and small pots otherwise.

It is a satellite and fold equity is amplified, especially if i have a stack. I can use this stack for tactical resteals, bluff raises, etc. These tools will be redundant if i call here.

His pushing range isnt any 2 cards. In a sat like this im putting him on any ace, any 2 face or any pair. The most likely event is that im dominated.

Against that range im not putting half my stack in jeopardy EVEN IF IT IS MARGINALLY +EV TO DO SO.

I should point out that i have NEVER qualified for any events even remotely coming close to this level. So it is not my area of expertise.

But flushy mate, i have at least tried to give a REASONED argument for why i think folding is the right play. And there's sure as hell more than one way to be a winning poker player.

He does regularly do his bollocks in the Luton NL cash games though.

Driton is superaggressive and bets his draws hard. Good luck to him.

Driton will get trapped for all his chips. Wernick will come to the fore later on, Mallu will come unstuck.

Chris Eddleman will be the CL. Good player, goes all-in a bit too much though.
