It has been quite a frustrating couple of weeks for UK & Ireland players at the 2012 World Series of Poker, where they seem to be able to go deep in plenty of vents but are losing out in key spots that are needed to push them over the finishing line. One man who has had a frustrating time whilst very deep in two events is JP Kelly, who recently busted in 10th place in Event #41, the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Event.
Kelly grinded his way to the unofficial ten-handed final table but from there it seemed like he just could not get going, despite a legion of rowdy fans on the rail; fans who had been drinking since early morning in “preparation” for the England versus Italy game at Euro 2012. You can imagine how loud they were inside the Rio!
Just as play went 10-handed Kelly tweeted “Just under 1,4m going into unofficial final,” but three hours later it appeared he had been treading water when he wrote, “1m chips at the dinner break.....still 10 handed and very card dead, but it's all good :-)” However, two hours later he was out in 10th place after losing with queens to ace-seven then pushing {A-}{10-} into {A-}{Q-Clubs}.
JP_Kelly5 JP Kelly "Busted in 10th......lost QQ v A7 and then shoved AT into AQ......thanks for support everyone, really frustrating how my finals are going " June 24 2012Let's go back to that infamous British rail, something that has become of the fixtures and fittings at the WSOP. A Brit makes the final table, a huge rail shows up to support them. Sometimes they are a little over the top but for the most part they are just loud. Personally I see nothing wrong with it but so far this year Justin Bonomo has complained and Brian Hastings actually anti-sweated Kelly and wished he would bust in 10th place.
brianchastings Brian Hastings "Looks like they're sweating JP Kelly. I'm sure JP is a swell guy but really hope he gets 10th. #shutuprail" June 24 2012Kelly was quite polite, politer than many would be, in his response to Hastings writing simply:
JP_Kelly5 JP Kelly "@brianchastings You got your wish, I did come 10th, good luck." June 24 2012http://uk.pokernews.com/news/2012/06/another-frustrating-day-for-jp-kelly-as-british-rail-angers-8670.htmMy money is on the British Rail. Yours?
