Cracking stage today. All seemed to be racing to protect their positions in the top ten. The break was never going to stay away with Caruso in it. Pirazzi looking to be still full of energy to defend the KOM jersey. Movistar having a great Giro.

Interesting stage. Looks on paper a bunch sprint stage, but in the final week of a GT it's more open than first assumed. The bookies have a tempting 4/1 Cavendish. If his team work as well as they did on stage 13, I don't see why Cav cannot make it 5 wins. However, the short climb could have the sprinters in trouble if like today the GC riders attack with any severity. Nizzolo has given me some decent profit. Quoted in Italian media after todays stage that he'll be looking to beat Cav tomorrow! you can get 25/1. Two outsiders. Filippo Pozzato, lives locally & has mentioned in the media he'll give this stage a go. 33/1. A possible candidate to be in the early breakaway & another local rider is Marco Marcato. He'll know the area better than anyone. 35/1

Stage 18. ITT. Nibali has been without doubt the strongest climber & is favourite. I'd have Evans closer than many believe. His time splits on the last uphill sector in the first TT where better than anyone. Only had the briefest of looks at the markets & can't see any obvious value. With Nibali & Evans a likely 1-2, leaving one spot in the Top 3 market. The only hint of value is Intxausti @ 20/1 he is a better TT than the price suggests (I'd think 11/1 is about right). Movistar are on a roll with results & confidence is high, he'll also be looking to protect his top ten position in GC. Probably still not a bet.

Nibali was dominant today & now with 4.02 lead over Evans.
Cadel's comment on twitter. Uphill TT done here at the Giro: Nibali in a class of his own. Evans -if I may say so myself- abysmal.... #giro #goodtraining

Not sure of what to make of tomorrows stage. Weather forecast is pretty awful with minus temperatures. Bearing that in mind & with the Maglia Rosa pretty much settled. I'm inclined to think the battle for the stage win may come down to either a small breakaway group or Betancur & Majka attacking on the final climb. However with small time gaps from 2nd through to 10th I guess it could equally turn into a chaotic free for all. In overnight ponder mode!

With todays stage cancellation & tomorrow not looking great. The points classification looks almost certainly to be won by Cavendish.
I don't have a Bwin account, but they still have Cav @ 2/5

Cracking picture Tonji, these boys have it too pampered nowadays Always makes me wonder if the points for the sprinters need looking at, I mean Cav has won 4 stages + intermediates and Evans only 4 points down

The final mountain stage & reports on twitter that snow is falling high up & commentators are struggling to get to the summit in cars! Not a day for betting imo, but hope Betancour can take the win he deserves.

So does this mean that Cavendish will win the Points Classification?

Really a case for Cav to survive today, he does not like hills. But likely he'll still be in the red jersey after the stage today. Best price today is 1/20. If all goes to plan he'll be 1/100 at the end of today, with just the formality of Sundays stage to Breschia where he'll be odds on to win the stage.
