Getting excited much anyone?

Sky showed Cavs stage 2 win last year. No train for Cav just a proper sprinters race where Cav just got on the back of everyones wheel, one by one

Just a tad.... hell, I love this race!  Grin

Really think the opener could be great. Cav in the British National Jersey v Greipel in the German. Winner will be in Yellow. Classic! Add in Kittel, Sagan, Bouhanni... chance of crosswinds on the coast & echelon racing.

Not to be missed.

Finally Garmin announced their team:

Talansky
Martin
Hesjedal
Navardauskas
Dennis
Danielson
Bauer
Vandevelde
Millar

Exciting & talented squad. Could be a surprise package in mix. Unconventional & aggressive approach with no team leader, but using the options of Hesjedal, Talansky & Martin for a high overall finish.

Betfred are 10/1 in team classification. Worth a fiver. Top four are actually closer than betting suggests imo.

Really hope they will ignite the race, so much potential there.

Team manager likes it:

Jonathan Vaughters ‏@Vaughters
Last year I just didn't feel it for the Tour. Something was off with our team. This year? Mojo is there.

Contador today in the media press conference:

“It’s difficult to say where I am right now. That will become clearer when the race gets under way. I would say that I am at about 90 per cent right, which is just about where I want to be given the difficulty of the race this year.”

On tactics: “The route this year provides a lot of opportunities. There are some short mountain stages where you can take a risk and make attacks from a long way out if things have got complicated in the overall standings. But if things go to plan I won’t be thinking about tactics until after the second time trial. At that point, my tactics might need to become more aggressive or perhaps more conservative. In any case, one thing that’s for certain is that there will be more action on this route than in recent years.”

Sagan at 12s is too big. Some nice e/w potential

Maybe, but I have my doubts. Finish looks to be for power sprinters with high top end speed. Sagan could be swamped unless it turns into a messy brawl. Stage 2 looks better, but likely to be short priced favourite.

Probably not a stage for betting for me, but tempted with Greipel ftw, price unlikely to shorten, so pondering.
