Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: NoflopsHomer on September 23, 2006, 06:48:10 PM Hi guys, just got back home, sad to see rooks out, he was my tip for the comp if there had been a book. Good luck to all remaining blondes.
About my exit hand. I had about a 10k stack and I raised in mid position with Qs Qc to 500 (blinds 75/150), BB has more than me, and is the guy who knocked Red out of the big Gutshot tournament. He is a bit of a calling station. Anyway he calls my raise, and the flop comes 9s 6c 3s which isn't the best flop for me, but he checks, so I bet 1k into the 1,075 pot and he calls. Turn is Jc He checks again and I'm quite sure he's drawing, so I bet 2.5k this time, he check/raises me pretty much all-in, now I'm trying to think what he has here, if he has a set of nines, sixes or threes or at a pinch J9, I'm in trouble, but there are just so many big draws I'm beating that can make this move too. Ac 9c, Aspades Js, 5c 4c, 7c 8c, 8s Ts for starters. Because of the draw intensity of the board I decided to push, actually quite sure I was ahead to one of the two ace hands I've mentioned. He shows me Jh 6h and I miss my eight outs. If the board isn't a heavy drawing one, I might've been able to pass but here I just had to take the medicine. Once I found out I was one of Booder's picks, I wasn't surprised. :D Thanks for all your support anyway guys. :) Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: Poppet7 on September 23, 2006, 06:53:24 PM Unlucky Flops :(

Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on September 23, 2006, 09:45:41 PM Good updates Kev. Just got in now, bit gutted to have got off to a good start then lose it on one hand! :(
Limped from the C/O with Qh Th for 200 (i had a 23k stack), Sb makes up and BB checks. Qd Td 8h flop looked nice, although full of draws. They check to me, and i bet 600. The SB is the calling station on the table, but he also plays his draws heavy, on a previous hand he c/raised and bet every street on open ended. He has also been hitting and is the only one on my table who has me outchipped. He then announces raise, making it another 3.5k more! Quite alot i thought, but i couldn't put him on anything more than a draw, maybe straight and flush draw with his 9d 7d or Jd Kd ? So my plan was to call on the flop and force him off on a non scare card turn. 5c - lovely turn. He bets out 6k, to which i am obviously worried as i half expected him to slow down. But, i thought, there is only one possible hand he could have that he is ahead of me with, J 9. I had ruled out the fact he could have had QQ 10 10 or 88. He may also have had Q10, Q8 or 10 8 - 2 of which im beating and the other we chop. So in i went, 12k more. He calls so quick i know he has J 9 before he turns his cards over. So, with the 4c appearing on the river i make my way out! Ho hum, good fun though, i had a friendly table and was a well structured tournament to boot. The limpet / Team Chorlton is still in - lets see what tomorrow brings 8) And as for Ironside - HOW ???????? Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: tikay on September 24, 2006, 02:34:03 AM Just when we thought we'd got the APAT off to a corking start, everything went perfectly to plan, wonderful atmo, Iron has to go & spoil it. I mean, HOW? Seriously, he played great, though when Matey Boy moved on him with 8-4, he seemed reluctant to call, eventually saying "OK. I'll gamble". He turned over A-A... Brendan (Eric Stoner) played wonderfully, quietly amassing chips all evening. In fact, all the blondes gave a good account of themselves, though poor Bainn had no cards to work with - 4-4 was his best hand in 5 hours! Anf floppy's exit was cringeworthy. We start again on Sunday at 3pm, & we've (well, Mr Blig Mouth here) promised to take all the Day Two-ers to dinner first. We thought about a dozen would return - in fact, 33 have, plus many of them have wives/partners etc with them. Oops..... It's quite extraordinary how many of the players have bought family & friends along - I estimate there are 60 or 70 just Railing. And they've come from all over the place - one couple (player + Railer) never been in a Casino in their life, came up from Cornwall. Cornwall! That's in Devon. Another was from the Isle of Man. That's nowhere near Devon. I've never experienced an atmosphere quite like it. Every player that bust out - 87 of them so far - was warmly applauded by all the players - not just on their table, but the whole cardroom. Happy days. Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on September 24, 2006, 02:40:42 AM Very Naughty Slowroll Iron! Hang your head in shame!
Very nice gesture too Tikay - top man. Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: matt674 on September 24, 2006, 03:00:52 AM Cheers for the support guys !! What a fantastic event its a shame about the comments regarding the prize structure as being as top heavy as it was made for a truely great and epic final table. Not one for being results orientated i was pretty much a coinflip away from taking the thing down. stacks Button - 200k ish SB - 440k BB-Me -450k Ive got a great aggressive image for defending my BB Button passes. SB makes it 100k i reraise allin to 450k total and he still calls the extra 300+k with K high (KQ).. my cries of one time drowned out by ironside and a K on the flop :( Absoultely gutted played some of the best poker in my short career on that final table but lady luck wasnt smiling when it mattered :( Oh and I missed my last plane, last bus, last train and am going to have to stroll in late to work tomorrow :( Writing this from broad street travel lodge.. I hope the APAT goes from strength to strength, cos I intend to remain a member and enjoy the rest of the tour through the year. Brendan. What this man said. Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: TightEnd on September 25, 2006, 12:56:46 AM Well my first post guys. Not a very pleasent drive home after finishing 5th. But would like to extend my thanks to APAT and all those mentioned above for a great tournament. Suited_Jock, Great performance. Definately deserved the win. Unlucky. RookieITB, thought I'd blown it when I tried bluffing you when you had Aces, but managed to hold on a bit. Thanks again all, oh and Ironside. It was a pleasure playing at your table. And knocking you out. And just for my peace of mind. My name is spelt - Antony Wolsey. Cheers Hi Antony Very well played and sorry for the spelling! Welcome to blonde too! Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: TightEnd on September 25, 2006, 12:59:21 AM Absolutley gutted to finish 6th..... Hi Jimmy, very well played tonight and welcome to blonde Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: ThinkerJE on September 25, 2006, 01:00:23 AM What a fantastic weekend!!!
A big thanks to all the APAT team, Tikay, Des, Richard & Mel for making the event so enjoyable. The Broadway was an excellent venue for the 1st live event. The dealers & rest of the cardroom team were very hepful & professional and hot buffets were provided on both days. I finished 14th,shortly after having an accident with pocket 3's (I suppose he had to call with AA...) I stayed on to watch the final which turned out to be very exciting. Lots of all ins and chips moving freely around the table. I thought suited jock as unlucky and played the best poker in the tournament. Also well done to all the players who made the event so successful. I hope this is the start of great things for the APAT and cannot wait till the next event. Thanks to all the players over the last 2 days for being so friendly and making the tournament so enjoyable, hope to see you all again soon. Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: TightEnd on September 25, 2006, 01:03:12 AM Hey guys :( What a fantastic event its a shame about the comments regarding the prize structure as being as top heavy as it was made for a truely great and epic final table. I thought you played a terrific final table, the bullying 5 handed was top stuff! Unlucky not to win it Matt, but well done anyway Same applies to Scott M, probably on the M6 neading North as I write, he was a coinflip away from a huge chip lead 3 handed but lost it and that was almost that I really felt for him, fantastic patience all day. Im new to this site but thought Id post as I really enjoyed the tourney despite busting in 23rd when Ironside and the scottish lad (suited jock?) who I'd sat by both days did a nice co-operation move on me and my AQ lost to K 10 and my last 15k went. I think ScottM was sat on the other side of me on sunday from what I can tell and it was a real pleasure to play against these 2 lads for all of 2 days. I was pretty close to taking suited jock (if the right guy) out on day one as he was down to 10k so it was fitting that he got me in the end. Glad you 2 managed to cash as I presume you had to miss your flights for your final table spots. Just want to add that it was a great tourney and I really enjoyed my 1st live experience so I hope to be back at one of the other APAT events. We'll done to everyone who made the dough!!! Cheers Ian Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: kinboshi on September 25, 2006, 10:52:25 AM Hi everyone - Daniel here. Still in shock after yesterday.
Mark, Scott, Antony, Jimmy and Matt (and everyone else on the final table) - you all played fantastic poker, it was just my lucky day. It was a privilege to play on that table, some great poker and some great people. Matt - that KQ v TT was the defining hand for me. If the cards had been dealt the other way round it would have been you and Mark heads up (where again I was the lucky one with that last flop). Got to thank Des, Tony, Mel and everyone else from the APAT for organising a cracking few days, and the same for the Broadway casino - excellent venue and it all ran very smoothly. It was great to meet you all yesterday (including Ironside, who was absolute top quality), and look forward to meeting up again soon. I didn't know about this place until yesterday ;ashamed; - but I'll be spending a bit of time here from now on if you don't mind? Cheers, Daniel Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: Suited_Jock on September 25, 2006, 10:52:50 AM Hi all, Im new to this site but thought Id post as I really enjoyed the tourney despite busting in 23rd when Ironside and the scottish lad (suited jock?) who I'd sat by both days did a nice co-operation move on me and my AQ lost to K 10 and my last 15k went. Back to work for now. Cheers Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: roverthtaeh on September 25, 2006, 12:39:21 PM Greetings from sunny Cornwall everyone.
Well done Daniel and best of luck in Denmark. Well played to Mark, Matthew, Scott and the rest of you guys, privilege to play at a table with you. I have never been in a casino before in my life, nor I have played any live poker before, (other than £5 rebuys at my local club which are nothing more than a joke). It was a fantastic experience, a superb casino, and an exceptionally well organised event. And it was all made better by the fact that every player I met and chatted to was a genuinely nice person, (including Ironside). Tikay (Mr Kendall, to me), and the rest of the APAT crew - THANKS!!! Is there another game tomorrow???? Js Jh (I was the only ginger one at the final table, by the way) :D (Actually, it's auburn) :D Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: TightEnd on September 25, 2006, 12:42:37 PM Greetings from sunny Cornwall everyone. Still cant stop thinking about my moment of madness...... At the point Antony raised I knew I wanted to push with my pair of 10's thought about folding but I didn't expect him to have a higher pair than my 10's... With the blinds being so big I couldn't really afford to play flops, and didn't mind taking my chances Mano amano but when he turned them aces I was gutted..... I rode my luck at points, and had people suck out against me a few times, but I think we all did at some point....
Looking forward to the next one.... Although it will be hard to get that close again... Many thanks to everyone, the organisers and all the runners who made it what it was.... It was extremely enjoyable...... Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: Bainn on September 25, 2006, 02:12:16 PM Hey guys, just another quick post before work.

I would just like to echo the positive comments of everyone who played in the event. I went out 24th early on day two but that didn't put to much of a dampner on the experience. I would like to say what a pleasure it was to be sat next to Trevor from Cornwall for most of the first day and well done to him on 9th place. I run a small annual charity event at my hotel in Cheltenham and if anyone is interested in playing in the next one in March 07 please head over to www.pokerwannabe.co.uk and join the mailing list Thanks and well done to the APAT team for a brilliant event and in particular to Des who made exiting from the tournament that little bit easier to take with his words of comiseration and of course the free t-shirt lol Cheers Ross Warren Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: Ironside on September 25, 2006, 06:13:38 PM to everyone who i played and met and who had the pleasure of my singing and a few of my jokes can i just say

Scotland next! Title: Re: APAT @ the Broadway Post by: tikay on September 25, 2006, 10:35:16 PM We've had a debrief today, as scheduled, to see what we can do better.
Our biggest regret was that, for Event One, demand far outstripped seat availability. That was a real shame, but we've learned from it, & have devised options to overcome this for future Events. To those who could not get seat, we are sorry. Any other issues will be decided by Member feedback. But I never heard any grumbles from a soul at the Event, & that's most encouraging. I think we got lucky with the sort of players who signed up to APAT - "recreational" was spot on. To many of them, it was their first casino experience. We did a little "Live Poker Teach-In" pre-comp, & that helped. We also introduced several initiatives, all designed to be player-friendly. & they seemed to work. That's good for the Members, good for the Casinos (more players), & good for Poker, for we truly put our Members first, & tried to make them feel wanted. I can't tell you how happy I am today. I truly believe we have put something into Tournament Poker, & if it all ended tomorrow, they can't take that away from us. It's not been pleasant coping with all the doubters & sniping, much of it un-necessarily aggressive, so it's easy to see why Tournament Poker has not moved forward, & the players have not been offered a better deal. We have laid down a marker now - a decent structured £75 Tourney that included an EPT seat & Package worth over $8,000 & plenty more besides, & we have 6 more Events scheduled in Season One, all with the same added value. We still have in mind a Pro-Am series, but that will be next year, God willing. And we will only do it if, once again, we can bring serious added value. Don't bet against it. I must also thank all my colleagues in APAT, they have stood strong throughtout the storm. Thanks also to our sponsors, PokerStars & Poker Player, who helped make it possible. I am as proud as Punch.
