Title: Just a Suggestion
Post by: Junior Senior on September 05, 2005, 12:52:10 PM
How about we make it easier to identify a fellow blondeite when playing internet poker.  On your profile within your internet poker details you could change your address to 'blondeite', so when someone hovers over your name at the table it shows that you are from 'blondeite'.  Then we'll know we are facing one of our own.

Is this a crap idea or anyone up for it?

I think that's a great idea - great promotion for the site and great 'team building' !!

bad idea mate

though we never would, we don't want it to look like there's ptential colusion

I've never had a VC account because of the constant accusations on other forums of colusion, true or not.

interesting one, i thought great idea at first but we don't wanna risk having accounts frozen for collusion.
They will freeze accounts for even the slightest thing these days, trust me i know!!!

not thought of that! - good point adam and mr crazy frog. - perhaps we'll leave it then!

shame though. I see what you're thinking.

the other option is to contact customer services at all the sites you use and arrange for your screen name to be changed to your forum name. I'm AdamM everywhere it's free and AdamM667 everywhere else (667, the neighbour of the beast)

you see I remember last night watching a table containing two blondeites from Linkoping.

No idea where in London Linkoping is, as these two are both based in blighty's capital I think

I take a lot of the place names with a pinch of salt anyway!

what about putting your city in with a capital B after it? do you think they notice? anyway, why would members collude when we all want to win? i do agree with the potential accusation- though still id like to make the link to the collective assuming im assimilated properly.. ;D

VC Poker is rife with collusion. had to stop playing on there, the stts are all infested with colluders. I'm sure the cash games are a bit dodgy to.

I like your idea but i have been known to help out a blondite if we are getting near the bubble and there short stacked and vice versa. Not really honest but, hey what are friends for. And any extra clue via the address could generate a complaint.

problem is on some sites your address is used for allowing you to play in certain events like the LNPa the UB lets double thru the american cuase they cant quaify showdown and the pokerstars world cup to name but 3 recent events

I agree, i wouldn't even help my dad out in a comp if he is short and i am monstrous! - its not part of the game! - SOFT PLAY OUT!

OUT OF ORDER

never do it again dude

Bubble time or not, Blondite or not NEVER soft play a mate. Tikay and Julian Thew took me to the £250  rebuy at sheffield last time and Julian was sat to my right. even though he knew I was playing with my last £500 in the world he gave me a torrid time and I'd expect no different.

What you've done is publicly admited to cheating. please dont do it again, certainly not with Blonde involved in any way

I do not find this acceptable either. I do not want this site to be home to any of this type of behaviour.

Adam has said all that I could say.

oops. I am not talking about handing over chips. just killing the clock for them. all the other shortstacks are doing it so i may use my time up completely.

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion
Post by: ACE2M on September 05, 2005, 01:49:56 PM
Don't get me wrong. if i have a hand i'm gonna raise whoever regardless. I don't regard killing the clock as a cheating as i am allowed to use the entire clock for every decision, and if it ensure's i get to the money as well then i'll do it every tournament.

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion
Post by: AdamM on September 05, 2005, 01:50:46 PM
not quite as bad as passing chip, but still not great.

You have to be very careful what you say. the slightest suggestion of team play and our whole reputation is shot.

I'm happy with your explaination, I'm sure we all are but this is a good warning to newer players.

soft playing is cheating and is not condoned by the kind of honest players we hope to mix with here.

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion

i see absolutely nothing wrong with it. people running clocks down for the person they have been sat next to all night and struck up a semi frienship because of it. I will run down the clock for someone if i think they deserve it or i know them. The facility is there and i will use it.

I do not collude or pass chips. end of story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (you can all untwist your knickers now).

Hello Alll,

I am new to the forum but have been reading for a while.

I live in the midlands and started playing poker in casinos about 8 years ago unfortunately i was permanently excluded from the local card room about five years ago for reasons i won't go into.

had a quick look at your first post. perhaps you might like to expand slightly.

My boss at the time assaulted a croupier whom he had dealings with outside the casino. (justifiable reasons i might add, although i had no idea at the time)

Unfortunately i had signed him in under my membership and that was it for me.

ok, sorry

realise that was a 'tricky question'

I do disagree with your opinion on running the clock down but it's not in the same catagory as soft playing and chip passing.

doesn't hand for hand deal with that a lot of the time anyway?

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion

ok, agreed, lets move on but as I say. newies take heed. Online or live NEVER soft play or pass chips between friends. if you want anyones respect in this game you'll knock your best mate out of a game he's bought into with his last penny. if he's a mate you can lend him some cash from your winnings but not at the tables.

I am curious to know about this collusion on VC, seeing as i make a living on there perhaps Ace can point it out.

However if this is just your opinion after you read the hendon mob forum from last year, then please dont bother.

I agree - my b/f has no hesitation in betting me out of a pot if he thinks he's winning.....and vice versa

I should say we have a lot of silent car journeys on the way home from comps......

Great idea about the blondie thing but so many pitfalls - what a shame

this is true but in the case of the pokerstars world cup it is taken too literally. I'm Irish but because i have "Manchester, England" as my residence they forced me to play for England in their World Cup of Poker.

Not that England had any chance of winning it as the group stage results meant a quarter final clash against Costa Rica and we all know where Pokerstars is based!! ::) (and this is in no way a reflection of envy every time the rerun of the final 4 showdown is shown on tv!! :'()

maybe all blondites could all come down with a sudden case of terrets syndrome and just continually shout "blondie" at random time intervals at any table they happen to be playing at??  :D

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion
Post by: ACE2M on September 05, 2005, 02:33:53 PM
As regards the vc poker collusion, i experienced it on three different occasions involving the same player.

Playing $100 stts, down to the last four with the blinds in such a way that i know the shortest stack will have to make an all in move before i do and that this will constitute a raise of about a quarter of the big blind, then folding some marginal cards armed with this information i watch in disgust as the big blind passes his hand for the tiny raise (about a tenth of his stack) more than once. Forcing me into the position that the player was in, of course when i raise he calls for the tiny raise with rags. I cry foul play and report it but am told that no evidence of collusion could be found.

On the cash tables $3-$6nl i experienced numerous times a pot getting raised a substantial amount from early position then with a caller or two along the way, of course then you see someone in late position move all in, the early raiser immediately folds, and on the occasions when one of the flat callers makes a call the all in mover shows his AA or KK. I saw this involving the same players many times.

I am certain it was corrupt and stopped playing in disgust when they told me there was no evidence of collusion.

lol, i enjoy nothing more than knocking a friend out of a multi table tourney - it gives me bragging rights to remind him of it from then until he can exact revenge.

EH BIG ARMO?!?!?!?!?! ;) YOU REMEMBER??????

and btw. I have ran my clock down for a blondite on exactly 1 occasion, after he took a horrific 1 outer bad beat on the river when in 3rd place to leave him with about 1 1/2 bb and 1 place off the money.

I don't even think he knew i was a blonde as my username is different.

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion

This may strike you as overcautious, but on any site I avoid cash tables with two or more players from the same location, particularly from Scandinavia, and STT's too if I am one of the last to sign up.

Therefore if and when, I am not left wondering

Why did everyone jump on Ace2mouth like a pack of wolves? IMHO, I think we were way too agressive towards a fellow member. I understand the concerns, but give the poor chap the opportunity to elaborate. He doesn't seem like a malicious player, just someone who had a different view on collusion.

ps. I didn't intend to p*ss any1 off with my statement, but I thought it would be wrong if I didn't air my views.

because, until he elborated it sounded like he was soft playing mates on the bubble which is the worst kind of cheating out there and something I know is a big personal issue to old blondie. Aces explaination was fine and we're all happily reassured he's not a cheat

Let them win their own cash, concentrate on your game. New money isn't generated by such actions so somebody will lose out by you being "helpful".

I don't agree with it.  I think it's still cheating even if the rules do technically allow it.  It's a nice gesture to a fellow blonde but it's not a game of nice gestures.  It's a game of skinting people for your own benefit.

Title: Re: Just a Suggestion

running the clock down actaully hurts a short stack that wants to win the event rather than get his money back but sneaking over the bubble

So ironside, have you ever used your time to try and sneak into the money?

I know exactly what you mean as i have played aggressively when shortstacked and people ask why, it is because i am trying to win the tourney. When i could probably blind my way up a couple of levels. But if somebody is playing for their money back having given up hope then i may help out.

I just get desperately bored by it, prefer not to see it
