Title: Re: NON POKER favourite pub quiz questions Post by: tikay on September 28, 2005, 12:28:12 AM Got the name right? It's only THE most famous named express train in the world!
I thought it had ceased to operate in 2002. It used to depart Paddington at 6.05pm, always pulled by an immaculately clean King or Castle Class. Both my Dad & my Grandad were drivers AND Fireman on it at different times, & on occasions, my Dad was fireman to my Grandad. The Paddington Crew, based at Old Oak Common (Depot Code 81a) would only take it as far as Plymouth, where a West Country crew would take over. The Old Oak Crew then stayed in Plymouth lodgings with a Mrs Stackles, this was known as "double homes". Last time I used this service, my coach develooped a cracked wheel & had to be "retired" at Exeter St James. Geezer used to walk along the track with a hammer & tap each wheeel, if it gave an off key "ring" they knew the wheel was cracked. Lets hope a Poker Tourney occurs in Penzanze soon, that'll be some trip, eh? Title: Re: NON POKER favourite pub quiz questions Post by: snoopy1239 on September 28, 2005, 12:40:06 AM Snoops, how did you work out the Notts County answer? well it had to be when they created the championship recently and when the premiership came into play in the 90s. When I was a nipper and footie mad, I always remember notts county in the top flight just be4 it changed. Stuck in my mind cos they are the crappest team I can recall playing in division 1. (premiership) I have a bizzarely good memory of football around that time. Don't ask me why, but I can even remember the teams in each group of world cup 90, the results, etc. Can't recall nowt from world cup 94, 98, etc. Weird how things can be cemented in your memory. Title: Re: NON POKER favourite pub quiz questions Post by: snoopy1239 on September 28, 2005, 12:43:11 AM I think Mark Hughes is the last 1 cos he played for Bayern, Man U, & Barcelona.

Right, Spurs were relegated from the top flight for financial irregularities (docked points) and fought it thru court and were reinstated, so technically they were relegated and still played in that division next season. Swindon had the same fate except they didn't contest it and remained relegated. Title: Re: NON POKER favourite pub quiz questions Post by: snoopy1239 on September 28, 2005, 02:03:18 AM I think u misread the question as I initially did.
