Title: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 03:26:57 AM Greetings poker enthusiasts. :hello:
Play for Day 1B starts at 4pm (3pm UK time), and once again, we're expecting a field of around 70 with hopefully a few bigger names. I can tell you that Freddie Deeb and WPT winner Jon Hennigan have made the trip across the pond, so at least we should experience a little more 'big name' flair for Pool 2. Hopefully they brought a few other American stars along for the ride in order to spice things up. Either way, Jen (yes she's back after her excellent performance in the Ladies' European Open) and I will be doing our very best to bring you the best coverage on the net. Please do join us, even if it's just to join in with the banter. It gets lonely over here sometimes. :'( If you haven't time for the banter just now - visit the no-pics at-a-glance version: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=23296.0 (http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=23296.0) Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: b4matt on May 07, 2007, 11:39:25 AM Great updates yesterday mate. Just caught up.
Wish Paul all the best for me please, i'll be on later to rail. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 03:05:48 PM Snoopy clearly doesn't need me using up a precious power outlet and the Wifi, he's doing such a good job, but either way I am fresh off the Eurostar and ready to, if not add to the updates, at least think of some new tangents.
Our poker table/press work surface was up until literally minutes ago being used for a single table satellite, but just as we got here the short stack was all in with Kings against A-J. One Ace smacked later and we're up and running. Snoopy just brings a cloud of dodgy luck wherever he lurks... Day 1B's players are sat (well, most of them) and gently sweating in the familiar mugginess of the Aviation Club, waiting for the order to Shuffle Up and Deal... Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 03:15:03 PM Already spotted:
Mark Teltscher Steve Zolotow Sorel Mizzi Jason Lester Paul Gourlay Mats Iremark Ram Vaswani Peter Gould Pascal Perrault Daniel Smits Bertelson Jan Boubli Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 03:20:53 PM Again 90 minute levels and a starting stack of 20,000. No official number or player list as of yet, but we live in hope...
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 03:34:20 PM Incredibly (well, not so over here I guess), we've had an all-in already, the two players pictured below somehow doing battle in a 30k+ pot.
I joined the action with the board reading 7s Js 8d 7h 5c and a chunk of chips scattered in the middle, plenty of yellow thousands too. Stephane Krausz was all-in for 7,500 and the decision was down to the other chappy, Vikash Dhorasso, who didn't look too confident at all. As expected, he folded, but it's quite remarkable to see such action at such and early stage. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 03:46:14 PM Hope fulfilled - a list has arrived, and today it's my pleasure to type it in for you:

Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: dalzini on May 07, 2007, 03:52:41 PM Runasson Runar was all-in for 7,500 and the decision was down to the other chappy, Vikash Dhorasso, who didn't look too confident at all. I guess that's what the former Lyon and Milan player is doing these days after getting sacked from PSG!! Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 03:58:30 PM Thanks to Benjo for spotting this one - it's pretty good - Sorel Mizzi (who seems to be everywhere nowadays) against Fabrice Thuil... They see a Jd Jc 8h flop which Fabrice check-raises... Sorel calls. The turn and river are 3c 3h, so this is what gets the Ahrt Jh of Fabrice interested in paying off Sorel's ahead-all-the-way Js 8d...
Pictured below: Sorel Mizzi, confident even before this confrontation gave him a nice chip advantage on his table... Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 04:12:03 PM There may not be any WPT cameras here, but there are still a few stars present.
From across the pond, Jason Lester former bracelet winner a WSOP Main Event finalist. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 04:12:40 PM Ram Vaswani, one of Europe's finest tournament players...

Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 04:15:49 PM Runasson Runar was all-in for 7,500 and the decision was down to the other chappy, Vikash Dhorasso, who didn't look too confident at all. I guess that's what the former Lyon and Milan player is doing these days after getting sacked from PSG!! Is it actually him? Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 04:20:36 PM Paul Gourlay looked a bit dejected so I asked if he'd taken a hit (I don't shy away, kick em while they're down), but he replied with "Oh no, I'm on 19,950."
That's a hit, surely? Well, sort of... Anyhow, I found out that he was a little mopey because he'd been dealt the American Airlines early doors but only managed to get 250 off neighbour Peter Gould. No exits as of yet... Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 04:29:10 PM Farouk Bensalem has taken a slight dip down to 17k after his Kings were out-flopped by Christophe Cabras's A-5 on a 5-7-5-J-3 board. Farouk got away pretty cheaply though, simply flat-calling a bet on the River with his Cowboys.
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 04:29:12 PM Reasonably big pot attracts the journalists (of whom there are just a handful, for a change) like big note-taking moths:
On the turn V. Troyanovskiy dwells after being check-raised to 3,100 by Nikolas Liakos (pictured, the one with cards in front of him) with the board standing 7h Ahrt Ks 2s. Eventually he calls. The river is the 2d. Nikolas checks, and there follows a very lengthy dwell from his in-position opponent, who eventually decides not to bet, effectively giving it up to Nikolas' Aspades Kc. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: dalzini on May 07, 2007, 04:30:45 PM Runasson Runar was all-in for 7,500 and the decision was down to the other chappy, Vikash Dhorasso, who didn't look too confident at all. I guess that's what the former Lyon and Milan player is doing these days after getting sacked from PSG!! Is it actually him? Yup definately him, your put a picture next to it and thats what he looks like. Ask him later what losing the World Cup Final is like lol Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 04:48:27 PM Sry for the delay, the wifi disconnected for 15 minutes or so.
Fortunately, it coincided with the 15 minute break in the comp, so we didn't miss too much action. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 04:53:27 PM Yesterday's full chip counts, written up with special attention by Rolf Slotboom, and pinched with equal care by me:

Of course, Christophe Cabras folded, but it's an intriguing characteristic.
Any one know why the French in particular seem to shovel it all-in at any possible opportunity? Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 05:02:20 PM Nice results there Jen :respect: Make sure u find Snoop a "drink menu" and buy him one on me!!!!!! What are DC and Mr. Cool doing today? Where they out drinking again last night????????? Hi there - cheers, and no idea where Cool and Colclough are today. It's still early though - they may well yet put in an appearance. Snoopy has already had a grapefruit juice, let's start him off slowly before getting into the elaborate cocktails... Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 05:06:04 PM Down to 69, which means we've lost our first player of the day, and that unfortunate man is...
Stephane Krausz :'( The opponent sending him to an early bath appears to be Vikash Dhorasso, as he now has just under 35k in front of him. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 07, 2007, 05:20:50 PM During these early stages and whilst we're waiting for the action to pick up (90 minute levels don't forget), I like to take the opportunity to introduce you to several of the more unfamiliar players, in particular this chap, Didier Pitchot (13,275 in chips), who I'm merely posting just because he looks like Mario from the Nintendo game.

We'll do a more comprehensive one later when the chips have moved around a bit, if you want a count for anyone not listed below, then please feel free to shout out a name.
Mark Teltscher -- 18,000 Sorel Mizzi -- 31.075 Jason Lester -- 20,375 Ramzi Jelassi -- 19,925 Paul Gourlay -- 19,875 Peter Gould -- 24,225 Ram Vaswani -- 18,200 Pascal Perrault -- 20,125 Patric Martensson -- 21,350 Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 05:29:57 PM Down to 68, and judging from the empty seat formerly occupied by V. Troyanovskiy, and the mountain of chips in front of Peter Politis (pictured) he must have met his demise in the last ten minutes. Peter's stack: 42,500, and the blinds are still only 50/100. That's 425 big blinds he has there.

He appears to be in a good mood, singing along to 'Sweet Home Alabama' on his ipod, with joyous disregard for key. I hurried on past, but not before overhearing Ramzi accusing him, "You raised with that crap?"...I think he just won a hand.

... and it's decision time. Pick your favourite dealer for a week holiday in Cornwall (but we'll pretend all three cards are different), where you'll appear to be enjoying yourself in front of the cameras but slag each other off when you get back. Just before the break, Ram gained a few chips... After dropping down low, Ram Vaswani has climbed back up to his starting stack after his 6k bet on a 3s Th Kd 2s Qd board with Jc 9c was payed off by Matthias Poppel. There was a bit of a kafuffle at first as Matthias initially put 1k in believing the dealer had said 600. A rather banal debate ensued, Matthias eventually calling the full 6k nonetheless. This was clearly not what he'd had in mind...a mutter of "putain!" and some of the angriest chip riffling I have ever seen later and he passed, giving the 7k+ pot to the young Danish player and now his seat is empty. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 10:27:59 PM Sorel Mizzi is doing well (again). He just got involved in a pot with right-hand-side neighbour Patrick Schnell, who looked like he might have called a raise from Sorel on the small blind. This would mean the raise had come from under the gun... I am not going to swear they weren't big blind/small blind, however, might just ask in the break.
Anyway, the flop they saw was: Ahrt 2c 5c, with a 3c coming on the turn. At this point there was already around 10k in the pot (wish I caught the beginning of some of these big pots - but to do that you've just got to get lucky and decide to make notes on a hand before it's even gotten interesting...). Patrick checked the turn to Sorel, who bet 5k. Call. River: 5s Patrick checked again, Sorel bet 13k. A think through later, and he got a call - he showed the Kd 4d, value betting that river which made the board less than comfortable for the straight, and getting paid off anyway by a hand Patrick mucked with obvious displeasure, table bang and everything. I have noticed that the table-smack usually comes in the UK when someone with less than perfect self-control has performed a particularly lucky beat on someone else, or had a hand hold up in circumstances so tense they can't control their arm. But here it seems to mainly be a response to frustration with an unfavourable outcome. Pictured: Patrick Schnell in yellow next to Sorel Mizzi. The first, I catch the Geordie betting Pat Bueno off a 2-T-K-8-5 board, later confessing to a bluff. "If I check, I lose, it was my only move. I'm sick of being pushed around." Then, on the very next hand, he limp called Ramzi Jelassi's pre-flop raise, checks the 4s 3c 6c Flop before taking it down with a 2.5k bet on the 7d Turn. "I'm folding a good hand here," suggests Ramzi, later hinting at Nines. "I'll let you see one," teases Gourlay as he encourages a neighbour to flip one over. A seven is revealed, to which I ask, "Did you have Sevens, Paul?" "Yes," he replies. Gourlay now up to around 29/30k. Flop = 8c Qs 4c Both players check. Turn = Td Noel bets 2.5k and Sorel flat calls. River = 8h Noel bets 2.5k, Sorel raises to 11.1k and Noel folds. As a result, Noel has taken a minor hit and is down to around 32k. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 07, 2007, 11:54:12 PM Double through for Patric Martensson courtesy of Henri Boutboul. I am going to assume that Henri raised preflop and Patric called in position, for the time being, but you really never know...
Anyway, flop: 3s 7s 2s - this was where semi-short-stacked Patric raised all-in, and it was called - his 8s 8d on their backs before Henri counted out the 8k or so and called, with Ac Ahrt. The turn brought the 9s and the pot was already sliding over towards Martensson... he reacted with the same apparent indifference as usual (pictured here right after doubling through), while Boutboul was clearly a little chagrined but not at the table-banging stage quite yet. Christophe Cabras moves all-in for 17k, Clement Amagat folds, nice pot goes to Cabras. Cabras = 49,225 Amagat = 19,800 Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: wsopin07 on May 07, 2007, 11:59:51 PM Did Mr. Sunar play this event????????
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 12:03:29 AM Nefarious Frenchman Eric Cantona may not be here in person, but he is here in spirit, and on the back of this magazine, looking like a complete turnip as usual.
Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 12:04:16 AM Did Mr. Sunar play this event???????? In a word, 'no'. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 12:04:31 AM Meanwhile Peter Gould (pictured) takes a pot off Nikolas Liakos, whom Ramzi refers to as "the luckiest fish in Stockholm." Well this perhaps Greek perhaps Scandie player was moved to the Gould/Gourlay table a good couple of levels ago and has a reasonable 35k at this point, and has as Snoopy said joined the table with the greatest degree of non-complaint ridden chat on it...
Anyway, Peter scoops in the chips and Ramzi wonders, "When did you English learn to bluff?" Also half pictured is Paul Gourlay on the right, in the process of the hat reversal. He does look slightly odd, having gone out in the break and bought large white-rimmed sunglasses which give the room a pleasant bluish tinge (I tried them on) but make him look like he might be out on a day pass from somewhere cushioned. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 12:05:10 AM LOL and the tshirt? ;) ;grr; Sigh, women are only ever after me for one thing. It is a good shirt though...someone has excellent taste (in 80s movies if nothing else...) I'll reserve judgement until he's snapped in a 'Heathers' t-shirt. Who's Heather? Is she good looking? Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on May 08, 2007, 12:14:26 AM A gurntastic Guillaume Darcourt is grimacing for town and country after losing a big pot to Runarsson Runar, doubling him up in the process.
With the board reading 3h 4c Ac 2d 3c, Guillaume made an obligatory, yet still reluctant call on the River, only to see his opponent turn over Pocket Deuces, the expression on Darcourt's face telling us he had the straight. Down to 24,075, but not out. Here's the full Gourlay impression, "I bought Scandie sunglasses for €90!" he says, just as the left lens falls out. Again. All-in for his last 5k on a board of Qs 3c Qh Kc, he was swiftly called by Vivian Anseline. "Have you got a Queen?" pleaded a concerned Witowski, simultaneously reluctant to reveal his cards until knowing where he stood. Without answering verbally, Vivian turned over Qc Jh, dominating James' Qd 8h. "Seven!" calls Vivian. Spookily, and rather suspiciously, the River bring the 7s. "Almost an Eight," says Deeb. "It's not fair, he's psychic," shouts an onlooker. Title: Re: Grand Prix De Paris: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Djinn on May 08, 2007, 12:46:06 AM Incidentally, there are 46 players currently remaining - well done Britney, was it? Someone said that, anyway. You win something decided by Snoopy. Or perhaps nothing but that feeling of having guessed correctly (anyone ever done that 'How many jelly beans in the jar?' game?)...
