Title: Broadway Festival of Poker: Day 2 - Interactive
Post by: snoopy1239 on September 23, 2007, 06:31:59 AM
Howdy Ho, peeps, and welcome to what, at 4pm tomorrow afternoon, will be the Day 2 live updates from this weekend's Broadway Festival £1,000 Main Event freezeout.

As expected, this comp had a nice little structure with pretty much every level in place, but that didn't stop them dropping like Flemmings, at least four players finding the exit door within the first hour. What wasn't surprising, however, was the name at the top of the list come end-of-day-chippy-counts.

Okay, three questions for you today.

(1) Who is your pick to win and why?

(2) What time will this event finish (to nearest 15 minutes)?

(3) What will be the winning hand?

I would normally offer a million pounds for anyone who gets all three right, but you never know, so I won't risk it...

Yes, I know, I'm a yellowbelly.  ;ashamed;

Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) was my initial pick, and even though Julian's way out in the lead, I think Matt could still pip him. Seems to be in good spirits at the moment, playing with a smile and a newfound enjoyment of the game.

Good Afternoon guys, made it safe and sound to day 2 if not a little bedraggled from a couple of shandys last night.  The last 27 are right now unbagging their chips, Julian may take a little while.  Here is the prize breakdown again, just so we can sympathise and possibly advise the winners how to spend their spondoolies:

1) £25,410
2) £13,860
3) 10,101
4) £7,700
5) 6,160
6) £4,620
7) £3,460
8) £2,310
9) £1,925
10) £1,540

It's funny that you should say that, beause you really never know, as proven by bracelet winner Mark Vos at a recent tournament. According to my highly reliable source, an opponent raised it up and then continue bet the flop, only for Mark to comment, "If I'm ahead, then I'll give you 5k" and show 4-2 for 4 high. Incredibly, his opponent showed 3-2 for 3 high and, as promised, was promptly paid the 5k by an honest Vos who meandered on over the cage to withdraw the money.

My question is this. Would you have paid, and at what figure do you think people stop expecting to be paid? I mean, if Vos had said 50k, would he still pay up?

Fists are flying already, Mad Turk jumping up to 25k off Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) who is left to shake his clenched fist behind the dealer at his Turkish, and rather mad foe.

Turk = Kc 9c
Thew = 7c 7s

Board = Qd Qc 2c 8c 6h

Turk up to the 25k mark.

No messing from the Rutter today!

Mad Turk has arrived today with the bit between his teeth and got invlolved when the small blind made up to his big blind.  Turk responds by going all in with  Ks  3c for 10k (doing half his early double up stack previously).  Glynn Rees calls him with  Kc  Tc  there was no pleasant surprises for Turk on the board and he takes an early bath.

He did come over to me and Snoopy though to raise a point that had severly bugged him.  As he moved in, a guy to his right not in the hand made a comment to the likes of Mad Turk =  Robin Hood.  We sympathised and agreed since the chap was not in the pot he should not have commented during the hand.  A little out of order but Turk can also give as good as he gets...

On Julian's table, Jamie Morris raised it up for the third time running but found E Jahanpour with  Th Ts.  He pushed his 26k whilst Jamie was mentally rubbing his hands with glee as he called and flipped over  Ac  Ahrt - dont you just love it when a lucky plan comes together?

E Jahanpour OUT in 25th place

Life and civilisation as we know it wouldn't be the same without one Mr Desmond Jonas of Birminghamville. Well, maybe not life and civilisation, but the Broadway Casino at least.

With the Flop reading 6c 2d Ts, Ram Lakha calls Des' 3.5k bet, only for Des to grin and comment, "Uh-oh Desi, you're in trouble now".

After the dealer popped out a Jh on the Turn, Des added, "Oh no, all right then, no more free cards."

At this point, Ram dips into the think tank, and as Des rises from his seat in anticipation of the decision, a small crowd piles around the table as if Wacko Jacko was in town. Well, they're half right...

"Why do people always come over when I'm raising?" inquires Des.

As Ram sits quietly in the lonely depths of the think tank, Des continues, "I'll ring home and ask her to put the turkey in the oven."

Ram continues to mull, his decision perhaps hampered by the bamboozling speech play of his fellow Midlander.

"Look Ram, you know I've got nothing, I know I've got nothing, and all these people know I've got nothing. Get rid of me so you can all pass your way to the final."

Ram chooses not to respond, and for a moment I wondered if he actually realised it was his go.

Des then changes his battle plan, "Come on Ram, just fold your hand and let's play on. I don't need a double up, I can outplay the table."

On that note, Ram did eventually fold, probably hoping that Des would show.

However, Des, who was still referring to himself in the third person like a WWE wrestler giving a smashmouth interview, finished the encounter by concluding, "This is going to be easy, Desi."

He's not short of confidence this lad.

The blinds are only 500 and 1,000, but one man who is not messing around today is Italian clad Tony Fellone, who's been in and out more times than the hokey cokey. With just over 20k, he still has plenty of breathing room, but he's clearly here to win and isn't interested in letting himself dribble down to the felt.

His last push from early position forced Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) into pensive mood, the construction manager from Yorkshire eventually passing, although seemingly reluctantly, and being shown the Ad as a result.

To be honest, looking at his menacing expression in this photo, I don't think I'd call either.

The pace has been steady eddie so far today with few departures, but one who has recently exited stage left is M McGill, his current grimace from the rail reflective of his soul-destroying elimination. I'm not sure if the spondoolies went in pre- or post-flop, but the assassin was definitely the chatty Michael 'Valentino' Artemis, whose Q-Js had flopped two pair against McGill's Pocket Kings on a J-Q-5 Flop. A Ten Turn and Four River made little difference, leaving to Mcgill dazed and confused and ruing ever receiving those ruddy Cowboys in the first place.

Here he is back in the glory days when he was till at the felt, although he still doesn't looked too chuffed.

By the way, does anyone think Tony Fellone sounds like one of those Gangster names you might find in the Godfather or Goodfellas? I wouldnt like to stick a bad beat on him, you might wake up with a horse in your bed... although I must confess I've woken up next to a few mooses in my time.

Adam Wilkinson is currently on 33,400 and as chirpy and chatty as he normally is. Popular lad this guy, and he can play too; has made multiple GUKPT final tables if my memory serves me right.

Julian really is truly blessed  - This hand developed, M Khan (pictured) raised to 4k under the gun.  Julian to answer next, reraises to 20k.  It passes back round M Kahn who does indeed put in the lot and its only another 6k to Julie.  On their backs as Julians jaw hits the felt:

M Kahn   Aspades  4s

Julian  Ad  Qh

A queen on the flop also ships the big pile of chips over to Julian Thewy - Golden - YoYo - Lukbox - Thew.  That leaves us with 22 players.

Before I forget, the answers to what was possibly the greatest quiz of all time...

(1) 3 (Dennis Troake, Michael Artemis, Dean Mitchell)
(2) 1 (Matt Tyler)
(3) 1 (Julian Thew)

Although my spider senses tell me that question 3 wasn't too taxin, are we surprised that only Matt is wearing a cap? Perhaps that reflects a change in fashion culture at these events? Food for thought, the world of poker is changing.

Frustrating hand for Tony Cartwright, who sighed deeply as he chopped a pot with Q-T versus Matt Tyler's T-8 on a 7-T-6-9-8 board, although Matt was keen to point out that Tony wasn't ahead when the betting occurred on the turn.

Neil Blatchey is packing his gear and heading back to Nottingham where he is a regular at the Gala cash games. The hand itself was a pretty simple affair, Neil re-raising Ram Lakha's all-in from the big blind with A-9 after Ram had raised from the button. Ram called quicker than a Benny Hill chase on forward wind and survived a 3-T-J-6-J with considerable ease.

Here's a startling sight, a masseuseless Trevor Reardon inverted AND double stacked! A quite rare breed indeed.

Unmassaged, although he did request the delicate touch of my paws at one stage, Big Trev seems to be in high spirits. In fact, have you ever seen anyone as happy as Big Trev is here. Perhaps it was that little dance that Stuart Rutter performed behind him.

Des (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=129) Jonas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=129) certainly knows his stuff and picks his spots nicely (The Nun, he beamed from ear to ear when I gave him your wishes).  On his table, no less than 3 limpers and Des is next, he announces "raise" and pushes all in for 16.5k, everybody folds like ten pins and Des proudly chucks over  Js  Qs and a speech.

" Limp, Limp, Limp, well what you want me to do? 3 Limpers, no chance"

Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=442) Cartwright (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=442) also gets his Aces rewarded by Dean Mitchells pockets tens.  Dean now low.  We have been stuck on 21 players for a little while, so i'll get a grand chip count when we get to 2 tables.

By the way, does anyone think Tony Fellone sounds like one of those Gangster names you might find in the Godfather or Goodfellas? I wouldnt like to stick a bad beat on him, you might wake up with a horse in your bed... although I must confess I've woken up next to a few mooses in my time.

Just as we head into the break, Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=800) Simmonds (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=800) is treated to a double-up, Ash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38) Hussain (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38) betting all-in with Qs Jh on a 8h Kc Ts board, Simmonds calling with Kd Jc.

After Julian had folded his Pocket Deuces (a call for Yoyo, surely?), the dealer dealt out the remaining two cards, a Qh Turn and Jd River causing momentary confusion before everyone realised Richard had survived with two pair versus an inferior two pair.

Simmonds now on around 45k.

The minute I posted Trev's table we lost a player in 21st -  Dean Mitchell and the table was broken up, so of course that means 2 tables and 20 players.

Just as the players are reshuffling to 2 tables, we lose another one. It was a no croak for Troake, instead his neighbour Jamie Morris scuttling off into the distance.

Raising pre-flop to 3.5k under the gun, Jamie Morris flat called Troake's 13.5k re-raise immediately behind him before pushing in on a 3h Qd Ahrt Flop. Troake instacalled and it was on their backs time, Morris in boiling hot water with Ad Ks versus Qc Qc.

The 6s Turn and 7h River didn't bring any miracles, but I'd be interested to know if anyone would have folded A-K pre-flop, or perhaps pushed all-in instead of flat calling. Let me know what you think, both players had at least 50k in chips.

Wicked hand for Matt Tyler just went off.  Tony Fellone raised it up with AJ, A Stearne calls with AK and Matt Tyler also calls with 99.  The flop comes:

 9s  Jh  Qc

and fireworks, Tony moves all in but is short and is followed by an all from Stearne and his AK and a call from Tyler.  No surprises or help and Matt pulls in a great pot and is looking pretty with 100k.

Tony Fellone OUT
A Stearne OUT

15 now left, I'll get some chip counts.

"Julian in race win shocker," exclaims a jealous Rob Sherwood.

And the victim? Mr Des Jonas, his dulcet tones finally leaving us as he heads towards the bar to down the Red Bull he ordered just moments ago.

All-in from the big blind over the top of Julian Thew's pre-flop button raise, Des seemed more interested in replacing the drink that had just been accidentally smashed, and splashed, over poor Mr Reardon's back (that'll teach him for being an inverted chair sitter!).

Meanwhile, Julian, who isn't a fan of the fold at the best of times, mulls it over with Pocket Sixes to fathom if he's racing or not. As he dwells, Des comments, "So, you've got an Ace as well?"

"I haven't got an Ace," replied Julian.

"Oh," hesitates Des, "Well, how small?"

"Do you want a call?" asks Julian.

"I need a double up, course I want a call," replies Des pointing to the extra 23.8k it will cost Julian to continue with the hand.

At this point, Julian decides that he is indeed racing, and calls with Pocket Sixes, which ultimately hold up on a raggy non Big Slick hitting board.

As Des departs, Ash Hussain adds, "He made it pretty easy for you, basically told you his hand. And so did you, it's all very friendly this."

Another exit this time at the hands of Adam Wilkinson.  Not sure of the preflop action but there was a raise and a call and both players see a flop looking exactly like:

 6c  2d  2h

Adam bets out 10k and Richard Simmonds goes all in for a total of 18, 800.  Adam took a while to think but call he did and turned over  7s  7h.  Richard showed  Aspades  6s and with a  3d turn and a  7c river Adam's call was a gud un, although the poor Richard had to be called back because he had 800 chips left, Adam finished off business the very next hand and Simmonds finishes in 15th place.

Matt Tyler, who is due a big win, is win with a great chance still. He's turned into a raising machine recently, but whilst most blinds have been won uncontested, a few have seen a big re-raise follow behind him, first by Ram Lakha's A-K and then Michael Millas whose Pocket Nines and 32.2k all-in was enough for Matt to concede his initial 5k investment.

Tyler currently on 103,000.

The lack of updates is due to a 30 min break..  14 players will come back to:

1,000 / 2,000 blinds
average now 68,800

A little story whilst I am bored, about half an hour ago I was heading over to the tables with notepad in hand, when a waitress duelly drops a whole sugar bowl (on its way to Burnley Johns cup of tea) onto my adidas trainers (other makes available).  Mateyboy was sat nearby as I shook my foot and sugar into his face.  So everyone looks over at the rukus and snoops shouted "all that just fell out of Maria's pocket, she was hoping for a heavy weekend but had to update instead"

Hmmmmmmmmm

With 14 players left and the average stack at 68,800, play has slowed down somewhat and it looks like we might be in for a long night. With sturdy players like John Falconer, Trevor Reardon, Adam Watkinson and Glynn Rees still plugging away, it would appear as though all loosey goosey play, and hopefully some hot poker action, lies in the more than capable hands of Julian Thew.

Jools has been surprisingly quiet today, but apparently feels "refreshed after a good Subway sandwich"... so let's see if that is the difference maker. No gamble in him this lad.

The condom-hat-wearing Rutter raised from mid position with Kd Kh, and would have been delighted to see Rob stumble upon Jh Jc in the big  blind. A rather clinical 4d Qs 6s 3d Ks later and it was all over, Rob's stack crushed whilst Rutter enjoys a most welcome double through.

With sturdy players like John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=211) Falconer (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=211), Trevor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=445) Reardon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=445), Adam Watkinson and Glynn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=158) Rees (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=158) still plugging away, it would appear as though all loosey goosey play, and hopefully some hot poker action, lies in the more than capable hands of Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225).

Jools has been surprisingly quiet today, but apparently feels "refreshed after a good Subway sandwich"... so let's see if that is the difference maker. No gamble in him this lad.

If play slows, we'll be more than happy with more pics of top poker pin-up Maria.....

Sure, here you go...

On a completely different note, what's with the dodgy avatars that some people are using  today?

I don't remember any of them last time I looked at this site, and frankly there shouldn't be any now.

Any moderator like to comment / act  ?

Dennis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) Troake (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) raises UTG and is faced with an "all in" for 21k from Glynn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=158) Rees (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=158).  All passed round to Troake who insta calls and turns over his  Ks Kh.  Rees turns over  Aspades Qh but no ACE for Glynn and he is out in 14th.

Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) has made a great comeback from 10k 20 mins ago upto 45k just now.  On a flop looking like:

 6c  7h  Kc

Dennis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) Troake (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) bets to put Rob all in and he does indeed call for all his chips with  Kh  Td

Sadly Troak turns over  Kc  7s for the flopped 2 pair and Rob is up and away from his chair.  I couldn't help but call "come back" when his  Tc hit the turn and the nothing river gave Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) a very handy pot and lifeline.

Burnley John just ordered fiver (yes, five!!) sugars with his tea. Ugh!

"I don't eat chocolate though," claims John trying to balance his sugar levels out.

Things has slowed to a crawwwwwwwwwwwl at the moment.  13 left and not much movement bar, raise pass pass pass etc.  With only 10 prizes no one wants to make a cock up at this late stage and burnley John just told Ash Hussain "I don't move me, same chips!"

Rob Sherwood raises to 5.5k, Rutter repopped to 22k, Rob passes and Stuart shows AK - Seeeee exciting news I bring.

On table Tyler, I'm gonna hover around Trev Reardon because with only 16k he is odds on for some chip movement or elimination.  I told him so too and he said "oh great" but still smiling is Trevor, I like him.

Next level just started 1,500 / 3,000

Now down to 13 players, the players have moved tables to make room for the upcoming £100 rebuy. The blinds have also been on the move, now jumping up to a rather more meatalicious 1,500/3,000.

Whilst we await the restart, can anyone come up with a good caption for these twin texters?

Young Stuart Rutter is more rampant than a pair of courting rabbits at the moment, first continue betting Julian off a 6d 9s 9d Flop, before re-raising Dennis Troake's 7.5k under the gun raise to a massive 35k, leaving himself around 20k behind. Dennis dwelt up for a while, possibly with something like Tens or A-Q, before finally folding and allowing the Relentless Rutter Rampantness to continue.

Last night Mad Turk won the award for call of the day, but today's bluff of the day has to go to...

That's Adam Wilkinson, at the risk of stating the obvious, but either way, he just pulled off a marvelous steal on the normally very astute Ash Hussain, the Monte Carlo runner upper raising pre-flop and being called in the blind by Adam.

A Jh 5h 4h Flop saw Wilkinson's bet of 8k smooth called by Ash before the Midlander popped out 12k on the 9d Turn. Again, Ash called.

With approximately 45k left, Adam then fired one more bullet, this time 17k on the 5c River.

Ash mulled and mulled. Meanwhile, Adam went through an array of postures, from counting out his chips to staring his opponent down to quietly resting his chin on his hand.

"Will you show if I fold?"

Adam nodded, and on that note, Ash mucked his cards.

So, what do you guys reckon Adam Wilkinson showed?...

Ash Hussain just took some chips off Julian, on a flop of

 Kh Qh 6d

Ash checked and Julian bet 12k, called

 9s check check

7s  Ash bets 25k, Julian insta mucks so Ash flips over a proud  2h  4h for the missed flush draw.

Some Chip counts on the way.

Being the pro that he is, the ever-consistent Ash Hussain is fighting back after being shown up by Adam Wilkinson earlier, making a standard pre-flop raise before flat-calling Julian's 15k extra re-raise from the big blind.

Both players then proceeded to cagily check down the Ad 6s 9s 9c 8h board before Ash bet circa 20k on the river, a sum that was reluctantly called by Julian, even more so when Ash turned over Pocket Eights.

"I reckon he had Queens," mused Rutter.

At table Thew, Julian makes a 9k raise preflop and his neighbour Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) goes all in for an extra 25k.  Julian DID dwell, but makes the half reluctant call with  Kh Qd.  Rob shows  Js Jd for a race and the poker gods dealt out a cruel board of :

Ahrt  Th  3h  5h  8h and Julians King high flush is good for the pot.

Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) Sherwood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=382) just as the cards were flipped over:

I've been watching Table Tyler recently just to get a feel of who's doing what. Whilst most of it is raise fold fold fold poker with everyone taking it turns to nab those blinds, the most active player is actually the shortest, Michael Millas pushing in and out like there's no tomorrow. In just a few minutes, I saw him show A-7 and 8-8, but it's no mess poker from the Solihullian.

Meanwhile, Tony Cartwright picked up Aces under-the-gun at one point but found no action. Matt Tyler grabbed the cards and started rubbing them profusely. "I just wanted to see what they felt like," he grinned.

A huge pot just developed, it started with a 10.5k raise from Ash Hussain, Julian reraised for another 35k more.  Ash quickly moves all in and its another 66.5k for Julian to make the call.  He stops and counts and stops and think he feels that sinking feeling.  He does make the call tho and

Ash shows  Aspades Ac
Julian         Ahrt Kc

No miracles for Julian and a 240k pot is shipped over to Ash Hussain.  Julian is left with a massive hole where alot of his chips used to be.

Directly after the hand:

About 5 hands after monster hand, its blind on blind action with Adam Wilkinson & Julian Thew.  Adam makes it another 8k from the small blind and Julian calls.  The flop comes:

 Kc  2s  3c

Adam immediately moves all in for a big 55,500 and Julian has to go in the think tank again, alot of decisions today for the Thewster!! But again he makes the call and their holdings are:

Adam   Aspades  5c
Julian    Ks  Th

Turn  Jh
River  3d

So thats it, Julian gets back a big chunk of what he lost to Hussain, Adam Wilkinson gets knocked out in 11th place for £1,000 and we have a Final to begin soon with Pics & Counts to follow.

Humungous Julian / Rutter encounter.  Action is a 12k from Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) Rutter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421), reraised a further 35k from Julian.  Rutter pushes all in to make it another 55k to Thew.  Again Julian has a tough decision, but also knows Stuarts capabilities.  He makes the call and:

Rutter  Ks Kh
Thew   Ad Qh

Board
 Jc  4d  3h 2d 5s

ohhhhhhhhhh poker is sooooo cruel.  Ship it to the Thew once again adding another 100k to his stack.

Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) Rutter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) is OUT and becomes the 10th place finisher winning £1,540

Michael Millas, who has never truly had a big stack, is still grinding away in Wernick-esque style, last seen pushing over the top of Ash Hussain's pre-flop raise from the cut-off. As Travolta (see white jacket) soon danced out of the way and mucked.

Thewy should design any rocket directed to destroy the asteroids that may, in the future, threaten to annhilate Earth. He doesn't miss.

Blinds at 3k 6k Matt Tyler raises to 15k, Artemis moves all in and with Matt covering him he calls the bet.  Over they go and both show AK.

Again, the action is raise fold fold fold, but players are showing down big hands, Ram with Queens and Ash with Tens being two examples. I'm sure if two of those hands clash in the same hand, we'll see fireworks. The players look like they might fancy playing a big pot or two.

John Faulkner finds himslef with only 31,500 and goes all in from middle position.  Unlucky for John, Michael Artemis in the small bind wakes up with  Jd Jh and his  Aspades  9c doesn't look that great.  An ultra boring board brings no joy for John and he is out.

John Falconer finishes in 9th place for £1,925

The Great Wall of Travolta has taken a slight bump, Ash Hussain getting it in with best of it and having his opponent, Ram Lakha, metaphorically replicating a scene from Deliverance.

Ram = Ad Jd
Ash = Aspades Qc

However, as we all know, poker can be a topsy turvy game at times, and after a 5c 3d Ts 4d 5d board and a few restrained cheers from the local crowd, Ram was breathing a thanful sigh of relief and stacking up his new found column of chips.

The guys have relaxed a little more into the final and the bantering has become more frequent.  Julian is making a lot of raises, 15k here, 20k there, pass. pass here, moan moan there.  One hand he makes a standard 15k raise, will Tyler in the small and Hussain in the big blind, they are starting to get annoyed.  Hussain did another dwell, passes and says "Thats the last one, next time I'm going over the top  -  IF i got AK lol"

"Ahhhh as strong as that eh?"

Sometime soon I reckon they will all snap hehe.

Meanwhile, we're chomping away on bangors and mash because they'd run out of fish and chips. That's a bad beat if you ask me.

Ash Hussain obviously had a spot of brain food during the break as he's just won a tasty 40-50k pot off Tony Cartwright, a nice 10k value bet with Qh 8c on a Th 2d 6h 5d Qc board being paid off by his out-chipped neighbour.

Michael Artemis is very busy now on the table, there is not a lot of action again.  Just a raise and then the flash of an Ace and then muck.

But Millas was getting impatient with his short 44,000 and pushed all in late posiition, the busy boy Artemis Called.  Millas spent most of the tournament without a stack to mess with though.

Millas   Kh Td
Artemis   9h 9s

Board came

 Aspades  Jh Js   9c   4c

Michael Millas finsished in 8th position taking home £2,310

Ram Lakha will certainly be breathing heavily now because he's just eliminated a hugely disappointed Tony Cartwright. The swan song hand was pretty straight forward and unfolded quicker than a speeding bullet. Ram raised it up with Th Tc, Tony moved all-in with Ad Qs and Ram called.

Board = 2d Kc 9d 9h 4c

... and that was all she wrote for Tony.

Tony Cartwright is OUT and becomes the 7th place finisher winning £3,465

Drama at the final table as in the space of just one or two hands, another all-in is announced, this time Dennis Troake the player with his back firmly stapled to the wall. The man with the sniper gun is Julian Thew, and his ammo looks pretty deadly, a Kings versus Eights encounter sure to propel Jools' stack towards more dizzy heights. However, the poker gods disagreed, and although the 6-A-T-2 board looked relatively harmless, Julian was plunged into the river right at the death, Troake banging the table in an adrenalin pumped moment as the dealer popped out a third Eight.

For the first time in a while, Julian looked slightly taken back, his body sagging in the aftermath. Meanwhile, Troake apologised, maybe for the outdraw, maybe for the outburst, I don't know, and Julian stoically answered, "It's okay."

Next hand!

quick edit tht

I edited the post because Chili posted under my name by accident.

To be honest, I'd have to echo her sentiment, Julian may be making the reports more because he's involved in a lot more pots than the other players. I didn't even realise that we'd been biased toward Julian and focused on him more than players like Ash and Matt. Apologies if this is the case.

I'm afriad you won't like the following report by Chili though as it involves some hardcore yoyo-ing from Mr Thew.

Sorry for the constant Thew hands but he is literally in every hand, and that is the last 3 hands.  The trip 8's beat took him down to the felt to 24k so:

Allin 1) allin with J9, called by Artemis with AQ
Board was 2 2 10 6 9
upto 64k

Allin 2) Tries his luck with AQ gets called by Ram (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=358) Lakha (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=358) with AQ - CHOP CHOP

Allin 3) This time its 99 and gets called again by Ram with KJ
Nothing on the board and Julian up to the heights of 130k in 3 hands..

AND Breathe

Next hand Lakha goes all in for his last 25.5k with AQ and Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) Tyler (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=274) calls from the SB with K 7

Ram doubles up.  Still 6 left.

without wanting you to  sound like the thewy notts local fan club .

there are other players in the final some chip counts wud be useful      mat ashh michael etc

Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) 175k  ;)

im intrigued why i wont like another report on jules considering we travel a lot together , strange comment snoops . obviously touched a nerve , i want to know how he is doinf  but it wud be nice to knowchip counts of the others .

sigh .

quick edit tht

I edited the post because Chili posted under my name by accident.

To be honest, I'd have to echo her sentiment, Julian may be making the reports more because he's involved in a lot more pots than the other players. I didn't even realise that we'd been biased toward Julian and focused on him more than players like Ash and Matt. Apologies if this is the case.

I'm afriad you won't like the following report by Chili though as it involves some hardcore yoyo-ing from Mr Thew.

Ash Hussain raises on the button to 22k, Ram pushes for his final 33k and Ash insta calls and flips his  Ahrt Qd over.  Ram shows  Ad 7d  but doesnt get any help at all from the board only 2 queens instead which means:

We are now on Level 16 and blinds have gone to 5K / 10K.  There was some chatter about missing some levels and shortening the clock but its a stiff no from the tourney Directer Keith (Steven Gerrard lookalikie who might go for a night out in Liverpool some time soon) they play on.

Matt Tyler is OUT and becomes the 5th place finisher winning £6,160

The shortstack of the five remaining players, Matt Tyler, pushes all-in with 7h 7s and is instacalled and that's insta with a capital 'I' (actually, let's make it all capitals)... INSTACALLED by Michael Artemis who proudly showed Ad Ahrt.

However, that joy soon turned to chagrin as the first card came out a Seven on a 7c 4s 9d Flop, a devastated Michael understandably letting slip the odd expletive. But before he'd barely finished his mumbling of naughty words, the Aspades hit the Turn to send a relieved Michael into ecstasy. A Tc later and Matt was forced to exit stage left, deep in the knowledge that he'd been cruelly teased by the poker gods.

Hi. Unfortunately, I believe the gaming law prohibits us from following the cash games. There seems to plenty of action over here at the moment though in the Festival Main Event with Matt Tyler's departure.

And with Julian out of the way, the three agree to a three-way split. Dennis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) Troake (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) was the slight chip leader and so take the trophy and the title, but the real winners here are the bloggers who get to go home earlier than expected.  ;cupcake;

Ash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38) Hussain (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38) is the 3rd place finisher winning £15,760

Michael Artemis is the 2nd place finisher winning £15,760

DENNIS (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) TROAKE (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=127) IS THE BROADWAY POKER FESTIVAL CHAMPION WINNING £15,760

The deal was his suggestion, and he was third in chips at the time, so I think Ash is over the moon with the result. Well done him, I'm sure he's grateful for the support too.

Cracking performances from Michael and Dennis too who fully deserved their 1st and 2nd spots.
