Title: Glasgow Bandit's diary
Post by: GlasgowBandit on January 27, 2008, 04:04:23 PM
I dragged myself out of bed after a late night.  Made a trip to the bank before walking another mile and a half to the bookies to buy a quickslip with the intention of playing the Super Series event today and some low limit cash.  I purchased a voucher for £80 and walked back home 10 minutes to spare I log into my account and input the quick slip number only to find out that this exceeds my daily limit - it seems when I set this account many moons ago I opted for a limit to be placed on the account.  So there is a helpline number to phone if you have any problems.  I give it a call spoke to some cheeky upstart who it took 4 times to get a 6 digit account number correct, only to tell me she couldn't help.

She couldn't change my deposit limit as that would take 48 hrs.  I don't believe that for a minute.
She couldn't take the vouncher number and ammend it to £50
She couldn't arrange to have my account credited with the ammount to play the tournament and I could have returned to the shop tommorrow and had voucher ammended.

Great customer service, it has to be said.  I will cash the voucher in tommorrow and that will be the last I visit a Hills shop.

I am really fecking annoyed.  To make matters worse the ammount I took out the bank and spent on the voucher even prohibits me from going out later and playing live as I only have £50 in cash left after I had a flutter on the football for the night.

I don't know if I'm missing something here, but are you saying that you're not happy that they won't change your self-imposed deposit limit at the drop of a hat?  Isn't that the whole point of those limits?  I'd be more concerned if they didn't have a 48 hour period before the change could be instigated.

Seems to me like she did well not to hand out the following number when she did her job "by the book"

0207 384 3040

The whole point about such limits is to not make them adjustable at a moment's notice!! Thats why you put them on, to stop "tilt" gambling

Title: Re: William Hill - Great Customer Service NOT!!!

I dont ever recall setting a daily deposit limit.

My point is that she couldn't facilitate me in any other way by:

* adjust the voucher ammount
* depositing the money in my account and off-setting against the voucher

Her only suggestion was that I go back to the shop and ask them to change the ammount on the voucher.  Yes great with fecking 7 minutes to spare to the tournament i wished to play starts.

it has nothing to do with "tilt" gambling.  I now have an £80 voucher sitting on the tabel which is of no use to me today.

The whole point of customer service is to offer solutions not put blockers on things.  I offerd 3 viable alternatives.

but hold on a minute, she doesn't know (and nor should she be concerned with) what you want to play and when you want to play it

I think you are complaining with steam in your ears.

I can't see she did anything wrong.

No I am saying I am not happy that I offered 3 viable alternatives that she couldn't/wouldn't instigate.

I have just given Will Hill £80 in the shop that I can't spend today.

This is the first time I have used the quick slip idea, would it not make sense for them to take an account number before issuing in the shop and they could perhaps tell you that you have a daily deposit limit?

I set this account up probably about 2 years ago last time i placed a bet via Hills online or played in their poker room was probably around a year back and as I said on the telephone I can't ever remember setting a deposit limit.

No  - I have exceeded my daily withdrawal limit on my cash card, thats what stops me going out later.

Yes i am compalining with steam coming out my ears.  Is this not when most of us complain?

I explained that I purchased the slip with the intention of playing one event.

So Hills took your money and won't let you spend it ?

A deposit limit is designed to stop you spending on a whim. If you already gave the money to the firm then surely there is no point to the deposit limit after they have the cash ?? I can see the use of the limits particularly for cards but unless they can check your limit at the time you purchase a voucher what's the point of not honouring the voucher ?? Madness.

It's a self imposed limit for use on the net, nothing to do with live purchases.

But they still have my money and I cant spend it.

Whats to stop the voiding the £80 voucher if I give them the reference number and then they can re-assign me 2 vouchers one at £50 and one at £30 let me use one today and one on another day, I am sure they could e-mail me two new voucher numbers.

As I have already said I don't ever remember setting this limit.  I know I set on on laddies but that was set at £500 p/w.

My main gripe is that I put forward 3 viable alternatives and they couldn't come up with anything, other than suggesting i walk back to the shop and change the vouchers.  I think that is very very poor, especially for a company the size of william Hill.

How do you fathom that out ?

They took his money for a voucher in a shop ( live) so he could use the voucher on the net. He got home and then they say well actually you can't use the money we already took from you.

This isn't about the limit . He paid the £80 in a shop. He could just as easily placed a bet and nobody would have stopped him.

It's absurd.

I sent in an e-mail outlining my dissapointment.  I suggested cancelling the voucher off and crediting my account with the £80 over two installs and got this gem of a reply.

For the same reasons, we can not simply credit your account with the funds for you to take part in a game of Poker as this would be seen as encouraging a customer to Gamble with funds that are not yet credited to the account and this would leave you in debt to us.

Don't see a problem here, really. You've still got the £80 by way of the voucher. They're just doing what you told them to when you registered.

customer services online are following his instructions (self imposed purchase limit), the live shop have no instructions to stop selling him vouchers that i am aware of......the key statement here is self imposed.

All that you have to do now is pop down the shop tomorrow and get a refund then instruct them to only sell you vouchers worth £50 or less in future.....end of problem!

he can change his deposit limit and deposit the voucher in 48 hours if he wishes

alot of sites have these "safe gaming limits" which are self imposed

i always check what mine is when i join the site and if i think i will need a bigger one some day will change it then and there

hardly their fault.  I'm sure we've all missed tournaments we wanted to play where we've left things too late and not allowed for difficulties.  C'est la vie.

 rotflmfao  Great thread :D

I completely understand why they didn't let you, but also, if the limit is to stop you reloading and losing, all they have to do is look at the activity on your account.  If you haven't reloaded for a while or haven't even spent much there, then they should perhaps issue the £50 voucher for you.  I'm sure something could have been done.

Perhaps the break will do you good though :D

The money has already been deposited with Hills. They won't let him spend it how it the system intended it to be used. Might as well have stuck it on trap 2 and they'd have said thank you.

Tighty, I am having a new kitchen fitted, I have no hot water my heating is turned off and I smell my only source of entertainment tonight was online poker.  Feck even my tell has broke, well not the tell the remote and to top it all of my old dear is away to spain for a week I haven't had a hot meal for 3 days!!

I am entitled to be pissed off.  Ohh and I have just ran out of milk because I dropped the carton over the floor and the shop is shut although its supposed to be open till 9:30.

Couldnt you have went to Hills shop and got a cup of coffee and a choc bar and asked them to amend your voucher for the cost :)

Things just get better, I stayed in last night like a good boy despite being so tempted to go and play the £20 rebuy at Cincinnati.  I thought get an early night and up for work blah blah you know how these things go.  The heating and water was back on yesterday, plumber and tiler came out and got things going again.  They left after an hour having put up 7 tiles.  Its a good job I'm not paying for this work to be done or these jokers wouldn't be getting paid.

Anyway in my bed for 11, I get woke up by the dog at around back of 1 needing the toilet.  I knew I shouldnt have given him pizza with jalapenos on it.  So we went for a short walk he done his stuff and we came back he decided he wasn't coming back in.  As much as I love the poor thing he would try the patience of a saint took me 40 minutes to coax him back in the house eventually task complete I went back to bed.  woke up at the back of 3 place was freezing.  Heating gone again went to the kitchen for a drink, went ti turn the tap on for some water there was a clunking noice and the water gushed out and then stopped.  Great no water again!!!  Only this time I have no hot or cold.

I am really pissed off now, I'll need to phone in and get an emergency holiday for this morning/day and try and get hold of the plumber dude.  I don't even have his number.  Guess i'll need to phone my Mam in benidorm.  Suppose on the plus side I can keep upto date with the blonde EPT update.

I haven't played on will hill for 2 years after they told me it would cost me £10 to get a list of all my transactions for the previous year. At the time i was probably raking £10 every 30 mins + casino and punting money. I told them i would close my account if they didn't provide it for free.

amazingly they refused to provide it free of charge, i'm still stunned by it, i wasn't even getting rakeback. Must have cost them ££££'s.

Not read the whole thread, but the exact same thing has happened to me twice.  (I'm a forgetful bugger).  The first time I cycled back to the bookies (3 mins from my house) and they refunded the voucher then at my request issued a new one for a smaller amount within my limit.

The other time I did it, I just set up another account and deposited the voucher to that.  Result!

I also like being able to withdraw using QuickCash when I'd made a deposit by bank card.  Presumaby it lets me do that because I have both options registered to my account.  So the other day I deposited £25 by Visa, spun it up to £460, and got the lot in notes from the bookies the next morning!

Having to pay for your lifetime transaction history totally sucks and is very underhand.  They don't want players knowing how much they've lost.  It's pretty outrageous.  PartyPoker won't let you go back further than three days, but will email you the full record on request.  Best on this is Betfred, which lets you view every deposit and withdrawal you've ever made.

On the whole, though, I've found William (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) Hill (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) customer service to be very good, particularly their telephone support.  Certainly a whole other world to all the small and dodgy overseas poker sites some people use.  I would never play with a site that wasn't UK-based.

I'm hungry :)

I've managed to feed the 2 dogs, good start eh? Tired the day, stayed up later than normal last night watching that new crime drama on BBC 1 quality stuff it was.  There has been no major catastrophe to report yet apart from the fact I managed to do 3 buy ins at 25c/50c PLO I may post some of the hands for analysis later, but not much needed tbh just generally being turned over by iPoker retards.

I'm playing 50c/$1 and running god making some inroads into those losses :)  Also took down one of those $10 30 man things.  so slowly getting back my dosh.

Once I break even I'll have a piece and pot noodle for dinner.

Stuggling on by on pieces and pot noddle, super noodles and biscuits and crisps this week.  And when I've been out at work I have had a proper lunch from the boozer it's a master plan.  Its not that I can't cook, I can.  I even rate my cullinary skills pretty highly.

In a moment of weakness last weekend while under the influence I thought it would be a good idea to invite a few friends round for dinner this evening.  They had forgotten apart from one, who kept on at me all week to remind them.  I pointed out I had extended the invitation and if they forgot then it was upto them.  Secrelty hoping they wouldn't turn up because the house is a disaster site.  Mother normally sees to washings, cleaning, housework and stuff and if she's lucky I may venture into the kitchen and cook a dinner once in a while.

Low and behold the one friend who remembered about the invitation decided she should text the others and let them know dinner was still on.  so now I have to cook a meal tonight.  Oops!  Slight hick up there ain't much for cooking and the house ise a pig sty, mam would be s proud.  NOT!

Anyway am going to attempt to do this, but I need some help.

Anyone know how to work and Aquarius WF200 1200 Spin washing machine?  I have about 6 days worth of washing that needs done, I am just going to stick it all in as a mixture to freshen them up.  But the bit where it tells you what letters do what type of was has rubbed off.  So I'm not sure what ones mean what.

I have letters going from A - M, I was thinking of just picking G cause that my initial.  Not the brightest idea.

P-Mac says:

GC says:

GC says:
I just normally stick everything in and go for a mixture
P-Mac says:
wot letters u got?
GC says:
A to M
P-Mac says:
I think the standard wash is G

Does D = coolish wash? and is D the same as 4?. I'm sure my machine has numbers and I generally use 1 or 2 for hot washes/whites, 4 for dark colours and 9 for woolens.

Its all in on G!!  I'll let you know the results!

Fecking cream crackered, just done a weeks worth of dishes, brushed and hovered all the laminate flooring in 4 rooms.  Stipped the couch down and hoovered that and all the cushions.  Jeezo I thought my dog was bad for casting my aunties takes the piss.

Now I just need to figure out what I am going to coock.  I'll take a trip to the shops once I've showered.

You never know! ;)

I've started the cooking!!  I'm making an Irish stew.
Pain in the arse though I need to make two meals, we have one amongst us who forgot they had grew up and won't eat adult food.  So they are having chicken dippers, chips and beans!  seven2unsuited suggested that I should give the child like person plastic curtlery and a paper plate - I think we have some stuff put by am of to have a look.

nice read Gary,,,,,,report on irish stw would be fun.

What can I say raided the fridge and there wasn't much there.  I found a kilo of minced beef in the freezer and stuck it in the micro to defrost after cutting away at some of the burnt bits I stuck the rest in a big pot to boil away slowly, added in loads of onion, carrot and mushrooms, chopped some tatties added the oxo let it boil away for most of the day.  Then proceeded to make my own dumplings from scratch added them to the stew and voila after about 5 hours of slow cooking it was ready I added in some salt and pepper as well as brown sauce and wocester sauce while it was simmering away to give it a little flavouring.  I had the leftovers on a piece yesterday for dinner :)

I made a big pot of boiled totties as well was undecided wether i was having whole boiled or roasted so decided to go for mash instead in with the butter, milk and mayo and mash them i did to they were nice and creamy.

Served up with a bottle of brown sauce and nice thick bread with a spreading of good butter.

I was actually very impressed with it as it was all a bit last minute.  Normally the fridge and freezer is full with stuff for cooking but when the mother hen went on holiday she stocked up mostly on super noodles, pot noodles and frozen dinners.

I also made a very nice macaroni cheese from scratch - even made the cheese sauce myself.  Just about to re-heat that for my dinner this evening.  Which reminds me .......

Well things should return to normality the morra, my ma is back from her holiday the night.  Obviously I'll need to put a brave face on and tell her all was well otherwise she'll try putting my dig money up.  ;)

I have some ammount of tidying up to do but firstly I need to go to work. Booooooo!!

Yesterday was a bad day, I was tempted to go and put a lucky 15 on with the £15  I had in my pocket, 50p e/w I had dug out two horses during the day that I fancied and was going to pick another 2 in the bookies, but low and behold the bus was actually early for a change when I was just about to head into Laddies I seen the us on the other side of the road.  Decided to headover.

My two picks came in at 16/1 last night.  Fk my life.  I'm not sure what else I would have picked but that would still have been a nice return 272/1 double.  It seems to be anytime I pick something out the now and don't back it, they run well and as soon as I make any sort of investment they get humped!

I think the big man is trying to tell me something.

Went to Hills there to get a voucher, fancied a wee bit of online poker the night but the fecking machine wasn't working and I ended up spunking £25 on a dog while in the shop.  fk my life!  I had a feeling i was going to win a tourney the night.

Spun my mates account up from $50 playing 25c/50c Omaha last night to $507 - was totally wasted and ended up blowing it all when he fell asleep and there was nobody to stop me doing silly things weeeeeeeee!
