So Hills took your money and won't let you spend it ?
A deposit limit is designed to stop you spending on a whim. If you already gave the money to the firm then surely there is no point to the deposit limit after they have the cash ?? I can see the use of the limits particularly for cards but unless they can check your limit at the time you purchase a voucher what's the point of not honouring the voucher ?? Madness.

It's a self imposed limit for use on the net, nothing to do with live purchases.

It's a self imposed limit for use on the net, nothing to do with live purchases. But they still have my money and I cant spend it. Whats to stop the voiding the £80 voucher if I give them the reference number and then they can re-assign me 2 vouchers one at £50 and one at £30 let me use one today and one on another day, I am sure they could e-mail me two new voucher numbers. As I have already said I don't ever remember setting this limit. I know I set on on laddies but that was set at £500 p/w. My main gripe is that I put forward 3 viable alternatives and they couldn't come up with anything, other than suggesting i walk back to the shop and change the vouchers. I think that is very very poor, especially for a company the size of william Hill.

Nothing wrong with this IMO, good idea.

It's a self imposed limit for use on the net, nothing to do with live purchases. How do you fathom that out ? They took his money for a voucher in a shop ( live) so he could use the voucher on the net. He got home and then they say well actually you can't use the money we already took from you. This isn't about the limit . He paid the £80 in a shop. He could just as easily placed a bet and nobody would have stopped him. It's absurd. Sandy

I sent in an e-mail outlining my dissapointment. I suggested cancelling the voucher off and crediting my account with the £80 over two installs and got this gem of a reply.
For the same reasons, we can not simply credit your account with the funds for you to take part in a game of Poker as this would be seen as encouraging a customer to Gamble with funds that are not yet credited to the account and this would leave you in debt to us.

You couldn't make it up. they have taken £80 off me yet I would be in debt to them if they credited my account!

Don't see a problem here, really. You've still got the £80 by way of the voucher. They're just doing what you told them to when you registered.

Sandy customer services online are following his instructions (self imposed purchase limit), the live shop have no instructions to stop selling him vouchers that i am aware of......the key statement here is self imposed.

All that you have to do now is pop down the shop tomorrow and get a refund then instruct them to only sell you vouchers worth £50 or less in future.....end of problem!

The shop is 2 mile away from where I live and this was minutes before the tournament was due to start so it was completely unreasonable to me.
