Title: The Lucky 15 that makes me wana End my Life Post by: Horneris on May 01, 2008, 09:50:20 PM This is how
I get home from work at 5pm. I have tennis at half 6 but but because im so sad/degen/very sad/very degen (delete as appropriate), i spend an hour studying the form for the evening racing at Huntingdon and Great Leighs. I have £90 left in my Betfred account so figure ill do a £3 Each Way Lucky 15 bet. Brag: when i placed the bet it had to be referred to the traders because my bets get limited. Its a bit annoying tho. Anyway, this one was accepted, shib it. After looking at all the races at Great Leighs, all i find is a 25/1 shot called Nassar in the 7.20 that is low in the weights, has proven ability and is ridden by Kirsty Milczarek (my Facebook friend, apologies). Massive Price. I then look at Huntingdon and find 3 really nice sorts, and altho the prices arent ideal i go for them. Deo Gratias in the 6.40. Looks a decent shout. Low in the weights (which i like), has a decent claimer on board, who claims 3lb and has won on the ground and over the distance. Only negative is it hasnt run for like 2 years. But i see horses win all the time whove not run for absolutely ages. I take the 9/1. In the 7.40, i really like the look of Marshalls Run and snap up the 6/1, and take Trebello in the 8.10, same again, low in the weights, decent claimer, 8/1 is ok. I get in from tennis at 9pm, and turn on Racing UK to watch racing replay from Huntingdon. Its still on Redcar so i go to my personal planner and load up Great Leighs which i Sky+ed. Nassar is 14/1 at the off, and altho i am really pessimistic as always under an incredible ride from Kirsty it comes in quite readily. So, im so happy. What a start, already onto like £78 for the win side and £21 for the place side, and 3 horses to go with decent shouts. If 1 more wins i probably get over a Dime Ball!. If they all win i get like £72,000 (ok i accept this probably wont happen, lol). Even if they all place i get like 2 Dimes. I sit and watch the Huntingdon races. Deo Gratias leads the whole way, then fitness shows 4 out and it comes nearly last. Im so dissapointed. But its not the end of the world. Especially when i see the betting in the next because Marshalls Run has come into 3/1 favourite. Wow, this must have a great shout and will definetly place, its been backed big time. I mean theres only 8 runners now. Comes 4th. I throw an empty beer can at the wall in frustration ("your hard Brent") ("STFU"). Trebello comes nowhere either and i jus wana die. Im sitting here jus wanting to kill myself im so bitterely dissapointed This is in no way a thinly veiled brag post tht i got £250 back. Im so dissapointed. I've never had a start like that, thought it was definetly gona be a big pay Come on Boldie, even you have to sympathize. The only positive thing is, i can do 2 £3 EW L15's tomorrow and lose £180. Shib it. Title: Re: The Lucky 15 that makes me wana End my Life Post by: LeKnave on May 01, 2008, 10:06:17 PM A+, would read again.

So slight brag: Horneris = Winner. so sick Title: Re: The Lucky 15 that makes me wana End my Life Post by: raab11 on May 01, 2008, 11:40:39 PM ive been out cheering on the florence losers( more of that later) and ive had a few beers so i may be misreading but... how did u get 250 back???? 3 win at 25/1 £78 3 place around 15 - 20 so am i having a blonde moment?? Most firms pay dbl the odds for one winner on a Lucky 15, I am pretty usre that Betfred pay treble the odds for one winner. It used to be a game of cat and mouse with the bookies with arbing as I was betting on Russian 2nd div footie matches one minute then on some tennis tourney in asia and then a domestic cricket match etc. The bookies would get very suss, i must have had multiple accounts on about 15 different bookies under family numbers etc to keep ahead of the game. The bookies hated me as I always had an edge. Title: Re: The Lucky 15 that makes me wana End my Life Post by: Indestructable on May 02, 2008, 06:43:33 AM Okay thanks.

I truly feel for you there, we've all (at least us degenerates) been there and there is no worse feeling in the betting world than a promising start and getting kicked in the nuts like that.

Once your figured as an arber you just become an arb alert and you can have your £2.50 on. Though there are plenty of squeaky bum moments when a price moves on you before you can get it on. I haven't really put much effort into arbing since 05, though i will take the odd one if i spot it. I used to do it manually by bringing up multiple windows and going through the prices 1 by 1, but software has taken over the market and the prices just don't stay for very long. Not like the golden days of 2001 when you could make 4 figs+ in the first week of wimbledon without even trying. The greatest days were when bet and win first started and they got in what i can only assume was a couple blokes from the pub to compile the odds, i think some people never got their money off them running into the tens of thousands, fortunately we managed to get ours before they banned us. Lol i remember bet and win i was always releived when the other side of the bet won with them. They limited my bets so quickly it wasn't worth staying with them. I was quite lucky when i was arbing i never got my money stuck anywhere avoided the whole sporting options (think that was the name) debacle as well. |
