Title: APAT seats on offer
Post by: Colchester Kev on May 19, 2008, 11:08:00 AM
Thanks to blonde being the best forum in the universe (according to APAT voters), the forum was awarded an APAT seat as a prize for us to use as we see fit.

THEN Tighty goes and wins one for being voted (again on the APAT forum) an all round good chap :) and kindly donated his prize to blonde.

This leaves me with 2 seats to an APAT event and with Dublin approaching and the Vic to come, I have to find a way of adding the APAT seats to a blonde comp.

This is where you guys come in.

what comps do you want to play to get your chance of winning a seat ?

the options so far are ..

$20 freeze normal payouts we add 1 seat (at least this will mean the winner gets a few $ for expenses) obv I run 2 of these 1 seat awarded in each.

2 x $20 freezeouts run as a mini league with the top two overall each getting a seat (4 payouts as normal)

feel free to add your thoughts and opinions, but I need to schedule the comps asap so will have to pick one by first thing tomorrow AM.

Plus obviously I need to get a rough estimate of numbers who would play ... so please post and let me know.

Cheers.

Nice one Tighty and Kev :)   Either option is good for me, although one event would save me $20 :D

Will play

The Vic is the better option to be honest, as the demand will be higher and therefore competition for seats will be tougher.

I'd play definitely.

I like the league idea - and you could even make it run over a greater number of tournaments, maybe 5 or so, with the best 3 scores counting (or something like that).

Thanks Tighty and Kev for donating the seats...please no league as Laxie will take them both.

Oh and the Vic would be good.

Can we have a league over one tournament please? A $15.75 buy in and it must be held at 3.35pm on a wednesday afternoon. 17 minute blinds and a 3356 starting stack.

I'm fairly felxible about anything alse.

Think you should have stuck up a poll tbh

My suggestion for the 3 out of 5 was that some people might not be able to play all of them (they might have other engagements or be ill, etc.) and so it's not really fair to penalise them for this.  Obviously, there is a benefit to playing all 5 as you have a greater opportunity to get good finishes.

I also like the $20 buy-in, as it means there is more money in the prize pool and it's not just the seat that's being played for.

imo obv.

I like that suggestion - but it'd have to be Sunday morning, at 3.35 (ldo).

Agree with Kin (am I losing it??)

Will it be a seat for each (Vic & Dublin) and if so would there be enuff time to run a league b4 the Dublin event? Or would the seat winners have the choice?

Again many thanks Kev & Tighty.

Geo

Depends on feedback tbh ... I would prefer to just offer the seats for the Vic, purely because it gives me more time to run a league .... but its down to what the majority want.

I get what you're saying with the buy-in.  I was just thinking about making the tournaments interesting to people who are out of the running for the APAT seat come the 5th event (for example).

Maybe the events could be different buy-ins, some $10 some $20.  Kev will sort it, he's my hero.

Very nice idea but how the hell would you decide who gets the seats? I think it would give you guys more headaches than you could possibly imagine.

How about a league with the leader just before the Dublin event getting a seat to use at either event. The league then continues with the overall winner getting the other seat (first winner can't win 2 seats but can get the cash).

Just before the Dublin event would leave it a bit late to get a good deal on hotel and travel though wouldn't it?

Count me in as long as it isn't a Thurs night, I'm happy with whatever format although $10 buy-in over 5 comps seems reasonable to me or it's almost worth just buying in direct, unless there's lots of added value and not just the seats to play for.

Whatever you come up with though you have my support.

That's the thing.  It's not just the seats is it?  The more in the prizepool, the more cash prizes there'll be.  This will help keep people's interest until the end.

5 x $20 tournies is only £50.  Not bad if spread over 5 weeks.

The seats are an added incentive on top of the prizepool yeah ? as it was very good of tighty and kev to add these as a very kind donation. It seems most are keen on 5 and best 3 guess kev could choose the buy in personally happy with either.

Obviously if you play all 5 and spend £50 you could buy in close 2 that but wouldn't be playing in what im sure will be some good fun banter tourneys full of us blondes also if you win it you going have good way to expenses covered as well.

That's not the point.  The APAT events are over-subscribed, and people play the regionals (£20 a pop), the online sats ($20 a pop) just to try and avoid the click-fest.

If it was easy to just buy-in, then many wouldn't bother with the sats.

These tournaments will be standard blonde fair, but with the added bonus of a couple of seats for the lucky winners - seats that are worth more than the £75 they'd cost to if you're lucky enough to buy-in directly.

How much are the Virgin fessie sats?  They're €20 a pop aren't they?

2 normal tourneis with seat added. Players should be trying to win the tourny not acrue the most points by merely surviving / playing most games. Plus league loses interest if you dont do well in the 1st game or 2.

Those who want the seats the most will play all 5 tournies.  Those that don't want the seats will play the tournaments as normal blonde tournaments.

Previous blonde leagues have been well supported and enjoyed by all taking part, and the league element adds another level of interest.

Tax free ours were, but had to pay a DEBIT card charge of 4.80, making it £4.84 for us both from lds /bfrd. Never had to pay a charge for debit card b4 thought it was just Credit Cards one had to pay a charge on.

But alas remember now, Stacey's bday on the 12th, so looking doubtful if we make it.

Yep ... its a work in progress.

I listened to all the suggestions, ignored the bloody lot of them and have come up with my own cunning plan.

Details soon.
