Title: NFL 08/09
Post by: Linux on September 04, 2008, 06:46:09 PM
1st Games are this friday and this weekend.

Which team do you support? Patriots (supported them for ages not a glory supporter)

Who'll win it all? I fancy the Chargers this season

Iv found a simple fantasy football by nfluk and sky sports if anyone is interested, there doesnt seem to be an option for a private league though. Points could just be updated on this OP??

Damn you Linux i was going to start this thread.

Anyways im Dolphins supporter, our aim is win more games than last years so 2-14 will be a success lol.

Watched loads of American football in the late 80's/90's but lost touch with the game once I went to uni. Probably due to not being at home as my dad is a massive fan and none of my uni mates following it.

Got back into last season and looking forward to this year.

Fancy doing the fantasy football, pretty simple and quick to set up (only took me 10mins) It seems that the "game freeze" starts in 4hours

they sent him to the Vikings, Jared Allen

probably TightEnd Tony Gonzalez, though he is getting on a bit

their young top draft pick Glenn Dorsey is Godzilla on two legs, a beast, but only a rookie player

The tight end (TE) is a position in American football on the offensive team. The tight end is the last man on the offensive line but has a slightly different build and in some cases a different role than other linemen. The role of tight ends can change depending on the philosophy of the head coach, but their main jobs are: block for the running back or quarterback who is carrying the ball, catch passes from the quarterback, and help create a stronger pocket by assisting fellow linemen in blocking during passing plays. The tight end usually lines up next to an offensive tackle, adding a man to that side of the offensive line. Therefore, whichever side the tight end is on is referred to as the "strong side", and the side without is called "weak side". Linebackers are, by extension, given "strong-side" and "weak-side" roles depending on which side of the defense they line up on; similarly, the safeties take their places in the secondary according to which side the opposing tight end is. Tight ends can also come in motion during a play.

Larry Johnson (Running Back) is KC's main hope this year, but their Offensive Line needs to be much better than last year for them to have any success.

I'm a San Francisco 49ers fan. We have no chance again this year, as we have a journeyman Quarterback starting for us this season.

As usual for recent years its between San Diego, Indianapolis, and New England in AFC.  Only Dallas and Minnesota have legitimate chances in the NFC of winning the Superbowl.  Dark horses this year are Jacksonville, who have an awesome running game, and a decent defence.  Last years Superbowl champs, New York Giants will really struggle, as they have the toughest schedule (as they are Superbowl Champs), and have lost arguably there 2 best players (Both Defensive Linemen), who were the reason they won the SB last year.

It's impossible for this to win

He's a defensive line player,an offensive player usually wins this, and Dorsey will be playing on a bad team

that is a fair price. Denver are a so-so team this season, probably less than 50% win record

You'll get a decent run at +10.

hopefully my team, the cowboys, will go all the way this year - offense is great but I'd still like to see a good pass "d" to help!

Anyway, now for the shameless spam (sorry) take a look at the sportsxchange on Sky Channel 456. Dave Gutfreund (who is a blonde & played at the last BB at DTD) will be making his NFL picks between 4pm & 5pm this afternoon. You can email in your selections too at presenters@sportsxchange.tv.

Last week, Dave gave 5 from 6 selections & hopefully he will be in as good as form this week!

Watching San Diego @ Denver

Denver up 24-17 just before halftime.   GO BRONCOS

If San Diego lose they might be the best team in the league with a 0-2 record after being pipped by the Panthers last week in the last play of the game.

OMG, most amazing play I've ever seen.

Broncos are 38-31 down with less than a minute to go in the 4th.

Broncos QB fumbles on 2nd and goal, but retain ball due to dodgy ruling.

They get the TD on 4th down to go 38-37

Everyone expects them to kick for overtime but they go for 2!

They get it!!!!!!!! Broncos up 38-39

Super LAG. I bloody love the Broncos

If the Packers play like they did last night (nearly letting it slip against Detroit of all people, 21-3 up at HT to 24-25 in the 4th before coming back to win it), the Cowboys will piss that one.

Vinatieri saved the Colts backsides last night as well, nothing new there...

I wouldn't take the handicap, this will be a tough game for the Cowboys.

I watched The Eagles pump The Rams last week and saw them only concede 3 points. McNab had a big game points wise.
Granted the Rams suck, but it was still impressive.

Cowboys price of 1.38 looks a bit rubbish tbh.

Eagels TD.

Might be over-ruled due to bone headed showboating.

OMG, he caught the pass, was all clear, and then just threw the ball away before he got to the endzone. He needed both hands free to wave at the people????

Depends on the kicker obv but about the opponents 35 makes it about a 52 yd kick.

Indoors like in Dallas there is no wind so easier.

Title: Re: NFL 08/09
Post by: thetank on September 16, 2008, 03:09:58 AM
If the offense cannot score a touchdown, it may try to kick a field goal. Field goals are worth three points and often are the deciding plays in the last seconds of close games. They can be attempted from anywhere on the field on any down, but generally are kicked from inside the defense's 45-yard line on fourth down. For a field goal to be "good", the placekicker (or field goal kicker) must kick the ball through the goal-post uprights and over the crossbar. The defense tries to block the kick and stop the ball from reaching the goal post.

They don't try them from 60 yards and that as if they miss, the opposing team gets possesion from the point where the field goal is attempted.

Title: Re: NFL 08/09
Post by: thetank on September 16, 2008, 03:14:05 AM
I heard last week that they used to have the posts at the front of the end zone like in rugby. Some time in the 80's the posts were moved to the back of the endzone.

The reason was to make it safer near the line (less players bonking their noggins off the posts), and to discourage teams scoring points through field goals as it's less exciting than touchdowns. Good call I think.

Title: Re: NFL 08/09
Post by: Longy on September 16, 2008, 03:15:41 AM
The record i believe is 64 yds but these are only really attempted at the end of the half by kicker with big kick in non windy conditions. As it gives the opposition such good field position if you miss.

Yeah i have seen old footage where they had the posts on the goal line, but that was like in the 50's. They definitley had them where they are now from the mid 80's onwards, when i started watching it.

Think the sky commentator just hit the nail on the head. The last team with the ball is going to win this game. Every drive seems to end in a TD

We could see one team eat up the clock with a 4th quarter drive even though they are behind. (ala wot the Broncos did yesterday) They want to score, but not too early so that the opponent has too much clock to answer. Fascinating stuff.

We've no de-fence, and we're the biggest luck boxes in the league having won two games we really shouldn't have.

Still, we're 3-0 baby!!!

Competition in the divison..... Kansas City and the Oakland Raiders lolololol

San Diego look strong, but with bronco luck the Brett Favre Jet's will pump them tomorrow night and they'll go 0-3

Wiiiiii Dolphins beat the Patriots at their place by 35-13.

Ronnie Brown is my new hero, 4 running TD's and threw one as well. The highlights are well worth watching from that game, the Dolphins kept snapping the ball straight to Brown, with massive success.

How are the Buffalo Bills nowadays ?

I used to have a soft spot for them in the '80s.  There was one season when they had a 100% losing record until the very last game of the season, I believe.  Which they stupidly went and won, so they ended up losing the 1st choice draft, or something silly.

Then they went and won the superbowl a few years later, so I went off them a bit.

Buffalo are 3-0

they have a talented young QB, Trent Edwards and good special teams led by a runner called Roscoe Parrish

After many years in the doldrums they are on the way back. As are the Dolphins

With the Patriots struggling a bit ex Brady that division is competitive again

Dallas, Giants currently the two best teams in football

I like New England over the 49'ers.

They're a funny one, all the pundits tipping them, then writing them off when Brady got injured, then tipping them when Matt Cassel was doing ok saying it's still the same o-ffensive line/de-fense etc, then writing them off again when they had an off week against the Dolphins.

They've had a bye week to sort some stuff out, they've not been sitting around eating croissants for 14 days, they will be ready to go to San Francisco and make a game of it. I think the line is -3 with them, worth a punt imo.

Could do that alongside the Chargers at -6.5 over the Dolphins. I think this one will be a high scoring game, but will be won in the 4th quarter. It's easy to like Miami, but -6.5 is quite a lot.

Bob Sanders being missing from the Indianapolis Colts de-fence this week has prompted Brian Baldinger and Sterling Sharpe to tip the Houston Texans in this game. Even though Houston are 0-3, they are improving.

Houston +3 in this game I think is the line.

Colts with 3 quick touchdowns to overcome a 10-27 deficit and get a 31-27 lead

Houston have a minute, a first down, 2 time outs and 47 yards to go...

I like the CBS coverage of NFL games. They always open with a wee scene of the locale they are broadcasting from.

I saw a CBS game from New York in week one, where they had some nice shots moving along the Hudson River at night. You see the lights of Manhattan reflecting off the rippling waters.
There was one the other day from Sna Francisco and they had a great shot of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge. The bay was choppy that day and you saw some of the spray from the waves breaking come up and soak the pavement.

I'm watching a replay of the Buffalo Bills @ the Arizona Cardinals just now, any guesses as to what shot do they use to represent Arizona?

That's right, a big cactus standing still, not even swaying in the wind or nothing.
The camera is at the bottom of the cactus and looking up, so we have cactus+sky and that's it.

[  ] I'm rushing off to the travel agents for some tickets to Arizona.

All the Chargers need to do is pick up one game on the Broncos in the meantime, as if the Chargers win to tie it, Broncos will have more divisional losses.

Chargers remaining schedule, exclusing last day...

KC, Oakland, Tampa Bay and Atlanta

Gotta fancy them to get 2/3 wins out of that lot

Broncos remaining schedule, excluding last day...

Jets, KC, Panthers, Bills

Only fancy the Broncos getting 1/2 wins from them.

Broncos win 0, Chargers win 1...
Broncos win 0, Chargers win 2...
Broncos win 0, Chargers win 3...
Broncos win 1, Chargers win 2...
Broncos win 1, Chargers win 3...
Broncos win 1, Chargers win 4...
Broncos win 2, Chargers win 3...
Broncos win 2, Chargers win 4...
Broncos win 3, Chargers win 4...

In all the above scenarios it's gonna be a showdown at Qualcomm for who takes the AFC West, December 28th. Can't fookin wait.

Good day for the Phins today as well with the Jets and Pats losing.

you got your wish. did you back those 3 results?

a bit tight this division, obv the jets still out in front but 12 games in and no team with a losing record makes it quite exciting

Title: Re: NFL 08/09
Post by: Longy on December 01, 2008, 05:08:20 AM
I think the Jets will win it and they will be the only team to make the playoffs from the division. Buffalo are done for imo, 2 games back lost 5 of their last 6 and losing to the 49ers today and Edwards got injured.

The Pats seem to be really inconsistent and not a particular easy schedule left, I think this is a year too early for Miami and that we will finish 10-6 at best (we won't away to jets imo). Next season though I think we are deffo playoff material if we keep improving.

My prediction for the AFC would be

Div Champs - Tennesee, Steelers, Jets and Broncos.
Wild Cards - Colts and Ravens

So as we are, though Baltimore have a tough schedule which is the place which the Pats and Phins will be after.

The problem is we (Miami) aren't particularly good either, we have had probably the easiest schedule of any team in the NFL. Having said that it is remarkable turnaround that we are already guarenteed a winning season and have it in our own hands to secure the 3rd seed in the AFC.

I am pretty excited about the Jets game already and hopefully in the next couple of years we might be a potential Super bowl winning side.

If anyone is betting this weekend you might want to check the game time weather as there is a lot of bad weather about this weekend. In order the games at

Seattle, New Eng and Cleveland look to be very bad(snow).. Kansas(cold and windy), New York Giants(snow) and possibly Washington look to have big weather problems too.
You could prob do a lot worse than betting the unders in these games if you can before the lines fall even further.

The jets loss is actually irrelevant to Miami's chance of making the playoffs. We still have to win against the Jets next week to get in, the real benefactor of the loss is the Pats who can win the division by winning in Buffalo and the Jets beating the phins next week.

Amazingly San Diego are still alive in the AFC west and the big showdown with Denver is on for next week.

In that eventuality, the three clubs would all be 10-6 and it would come down to who has the best won-lost percentage in games among the three clubs.

Jets would be 0.750 having two wins over the fins and a win and a loss against NE
NE would be 0.500 having a win and a loss against each club
Miami would be 0.250 and finish third.

You need to beat the Jets.

As Longy says though, a Miami win means you win the division, even if New England also win.

The tie break procedures are as follows...

1. Head to head record.

One win apiece.

2. Divisional record

Also identical, with one loss each to the Jets, and both beating Buffalo twice.

3. Common games

Both cluns have played the following teams outside the division...
Kansas City, San Diego, Denver, St Louis, Seattle, Oakland and Arizona.

Both are 6 for 1.
Miami losing to Arizona, and New England losing to San Diego.

4. Record within your conference.

This is where it is finally settled.
All five of New England's loses have been against AFC opponents
Only four of Miami's loses have been againt a team from the AFC, so they have a better record within the conference.

All you have to do is pump the Jets. Piece of piss, the Broncos managed it.

It makes a huge difference Longy, the Pats play early kickoff on Sunday so if they win the Jets are playing for nothing. You telling me that a team playing for a spot in the playoffs is going to be the same as a team who has just been eliminated from the running? I beg to differ.

I will be rooting on the Pats in the 1pm game and when they win that i am praying the Jets just roll over!

Fins 8-1 last 9 games most inform in the league? (obv the 1 loss was the game i went too....)

As a side note, how sick was Panthers Giants game? I had a massive (well for me anyway) bet on the panthers @ just short of 2-1 they should never have been that long, how they lost i will never know but that missed field goal was a 5 digit dollar loss!!! grrrr

Last time I looked the Jets game was an early kickoff as well, they appear to have changed this which is really unfair on the pats, but obv quite funny. The NFL have obviously bowed to TV requests than fairness of the game, they should all kickoff at the same time if games are effected by one another. The Chargers Broncos game is fine as it effects no other game.

I agree the Jets have nothing to play for makes a difference, but at the time of writing above the situation was different. The fact remains Miami have to win Sundays game irrelevant of the Jets result last weekend.

I am out of the UK and while they show games over herethey seem to be the most awful choice ever and with some sod cutting cables under the Med, the internet is moving at the speed of a snail. So no chance of a stream, FML the phins biggest game in a number of years and I won't see it.

if the pats win then I think the fins will abs destroy the jets tbh. it was only a few weeks ago that we were being touted as potential afc champions and I think that suddenly finding we have nothing to play for will destroy us mentally.

however if the pats lose the last game will be a cracker. can't see a pats loss though unfortunately

Sky show the play offs. With simultaneous games in wild card week they show one on red button, one as main match. Channel Five also have one show a week. This is good as they have Mike Carlson, a wonderful analyst. Far better than Sky's Nick Halling who takes himself too seriously

Pro Bowl shown last year, but it really is the most interminable load of nonsense. Very missable.

Despite massive dysfunctionality Dallas make it in if they win in Philly at the weekend. One time, don't choke. Pls, ty.

I have never known playoff games to be played at the same time (I may be wrong as i haven't watched a lot of American football in the last decade), the schedule this year has no overlap. With 2 game on Saturday and 2 on Sunday, with early and late games.

Channel Five also have one show a week. This is good as they have Mike Carlson, a wonderful analyst. Far better than Sky's Nick Halling who takes himself too seriously

In full agreement with this Mike Carlson is a really really good analyst and always go out of my way to watch the games on 5 purely because of him.

Pro bowl lol, I won't be watching this joke of a match if you paid me. The american football equivalent of international friendlies.

Despite massive dysfunctionality Dallas make it in if they win in Philly at the weekend. One time, don't choke. Pls, ty.

Yep got all the tiebreaks in their favour, could well be a threat in the Playoffs with the talent on their team. In fact all the first round playoff matches are looking pretty good games.

Will look something like this

AFC

Indy @ SD/Den
Baltimore @ Miami /NE

NFC

Atlanta @ Arizona
Dallas @ Minnesota

Think all the away teams are slighty better sides but home field should balance that out.

I didn't know the probowl was such a big joke.

That's all the American commentators could go on about all year. It's like they can't mention someone's name without first stating how many times they've been to the pro bowl.

Here's 2-time pro bowler Joe Bloggs in his fourth year out of Texas Tech.

From week one they were all speculating, who's going to Hawaii etc etc. I guess they're just talking it up because they've got to.
Had me fooled, I thought it was a big deal.

I think the voting for it is a biggish deal and I actually tried to cast my vote for it a month or two ago but my computer didn't like it for some reason.

The game itself is just not taken seriously at all, thats why they have it in Hawaii so the players get a nice place to have a holiday.

tank

its media hype on the one hand, but on the other the voting system is biased towards "stars"

1/3 of the votes to go the fans, 1/3 to the players and 1/3 to the coaches

the fans vote skews it to players on tv a lot, or the better supported teams

also players get bonuses in their contracts if selected to the pro bowl

most commentators, and diehard fans would select all star teams fairly different from the hyped teams chosen for the Pro Bowl

the game itself becomes as joke as the importance, if any, comes from the selection not the game itself. Most of the players voted in will be replaced pre-game because of injuries etc

the game itself bears no resemblance to real games, a bit like watching the Harlem globetrotters play basketball, you know they are showing off but equally you know there's no defence to beat

With SD's running game coming into form, Denver not being able to stop the run all year, SD could knock up a lot of points.

Good news is that SD's pass defence is shocking, and Jay Cutler is the man (he rules so hard) that I think this could go to the wire.

I hope we bubble SD hard on a dodgy call in the last minute of the game like last time.

Been banging off the walls for the last 2hrs!!

Such a sick result can't believe we are in.

No-one really gives us a chance but in the last 10 games we are 9-1 (don't think anyone else can say that?)

my team is a complete and utter embarrassment

so bad I've turned over to watch the Dolphins!

Best NFL day ever.

Had a 3 way parlay on the Giants +6, Green Bay -9.5 and Pittsburgh -10.5 and watched in amazement as Tampa Bay and Chicago managed to lose, giving us a shot at the play-offs.

Then watched joyously as the Eagles destroyed Dallas with the Venetian sportsbook full of depressed looking Cowboy fans.  I'd had a 'loyalty bet' on them at -1 which they just managed to cover  ;D

Oh happy day!

Steelers yes, Colts have had narrow win margins nearly all season could easily have lost 2-3 more games, Pats well we beat them and they were a tad fortunate at the game in Miami.

Well structured, good use of the clock, can pull out the unexpected write them off in the playoffs and you could be making a big mistake, fwiw i think if we get through we have v little chance against a team was well structured as the Steelers, i also think the Steelers have a better chance than the Titans/Giants so are a big price @ 7.2

That blind supporter faith in backing the fins is looking pretty good right now, not laying though obv!

The Broncos have made NFL History this year.

The only team ever to lead a division all the way from week one only to lose their place on the last day of the season.

I'd love to see Miami and Atlanta in the Superbowl because of where both sides were last year. That would be a story either way.

I'll root for whatever AFC side gets there unless it's San Diego. Their Cinderella stroy can end next week tyvm.

Denver were hideously unlucky with injuries and that eventually caught up with them. Tbh they did really well to get to 8-5 before the collapse.

The playoffs are as wide open as I can remember and even in the first week you could make a reasonable arguement for any team to progress. Obv i would love the phins to make a ridic run at it but i can't see us beating Baltimore and Pittsburgh in straight weeks.

I will go for a Steelers vs Giants superbowl.

Think it's between Steelers and Baltimore, possibly Philadelphia coming from nowhere (so just everyone then really).  I backed Baltimore after they beat the Redskins a few weeks ago as they were such a big price compared to Pittsburgh.  Roethlisberger's concussion may keep him out of their next game.  Third one in two years must take it's toll?

Big opportunity to cash in this weekend IMO, Atlanta are just an unbelievable price to beat a poor Arizona side, especially given that Matt Ryan, as capable as he is will likely be given an easy time of things by the excellent RB Michael Turner vs an Arizona defence that is poor against the run. Arizona just can't run the ball (ranked last in the NFL) and I expect the totally one dimensional Arizona offence to struggle particularly if Atlanta can generate any sort of pass rush. At 4/5 Atlanta have to be a worth a big bet.

Peyton is head and shoulders the best qb in the league (Brady was the only one close before his injury) and he has had an excellent season, so hats off to him. This voting is so qb bias its unfunny as much as I love Chad, 2nd most valuable player in the NFL i think not.

Ravens will win because they understand how to combat the wildcat (it's really not difficult and I'm amazed the Patriots struggled against it) other than that Ray Lewis specialises in embarrasing unsophisticated offences (eg Dallas) and Miami are obv quite limited.

Anyone watch last night? The official missed three massive off-sides from Arizona one of which was the equivalent of a footballer being on the edge of penalty area and the only player in the attacking half with the defenders holding a line on the halfway line. The offisdes seem minor but Arizona won the game by basically being right on the limit, encroaching and coming offside throughout. Having said that Kurt Warner was excellent, magnificent player and seems like a top bloke as well.

I like Miami and hipe they win, fingers crossed but I think they will struggle.

I thought the official were awful in the Arizona game, they missed loads of stuff on both sides. Arizona were constantly offside on defence, but Atlanta got some calls as well, there was a clear hold in their own endzone which would have been a safety and the clearest defensive inteference you can get not given.

I agree with you that Baltimore are a bad match up for Miami, mainly cos their defence is so good. I just live in hope that our home field advantage and we come up with so creative stuff on offence not necessarily the wildcat, we have had some excellent play design this season on offence to get the best out of rather limited group talent wise. Also we won't kill ourselves, ravens will have to win this and not wait for us to lose it.

Not sure Brady will be with the Pats next season as they could well end up having to pay $14m to both QBs.  Belichek may opt to ditch him if there's doubts about his fitness.

opinions so far ? anybody watching ?

its a real "mans game" out there, no quarter being given or asked. TN had a realy good 2nd quarter, maybe worried that they havent turned the posession into points. maybe the extra weeks rest has done them good.

i would say though that the 2/1 about the ravens available in play looks huge.

Unless Ravens can get more pressure onto Collins and make him make bad decisions, it's going to be hard for the Ravens to win.

Yeah that is looking pretty good at the moment, still doubts over Big ben and the whole Steelers offence but their defence is awesome. Looking to the Steelers vs Ravens part 3, both defences are brutal.

I just hope they don't do anything stupid tonight against the Chargers, so happy that Steelers lost to Titans the other week i knew it would make their price ridic long.

The over/under for the Pittsburgh/Baltimore game is 33. You have to think the under looks a good bet again. If Piitsburgh can't run the ball well they won't be effective offensively. We know Baltimore won't score many, this has to be another solid bet.

Running the ball on the Pitt defense is nigh on impossible.

I think the only way Baltimore can win is to go deep. Look at the success the Chargers had when they threw the long ball. Flacco has an amazing arm and Mason is a vastly underrated WR. Clayton is pretty good too.

I have a feeling if the weather isn't too bad this might be alot more open than 33 points suggests. OVER for me.

Title: Re: NFL 08/09
Post by: kukushkin88 on January 12, 2009, 05:00:58 PM

The dynamics of the game will be very different to the Pitts vs SD game. Flacco looks a good player and he has a strong arm but San Diego have a hugely talented passing attack. Baltimore won't go to the air almost irrelevant of how little progress they make on the ground, this of course is provided they can keep Pittsburgh from running up early points. If they contain Willie Parker it's hard to see Pittsburgh generating much offence. Baltimore will just pound it up the middle and punt. I can see it being a real stalemate.

Always nice to hear the views of a proven sports betting winner. I used to really enjoy the blog. Shame we're rationed to one update a year these days.

and this is why I would like Arizona to win

Kurtis the Stock Boy and Brenda the Checkout Girl

In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry-out at register 4. Kurtis was almost finished and wanted to get some fresh air, so he decided to answer the call. As he approached the checkout stand, a distant smile caught his eye ~ the checkout girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love.

Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card, punched out, and then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only to see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted. When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work. She simply said it wasn't possible.

He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a babysitter, so he offered to pay for the babysitter. Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night, he arrived at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The babysitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, let's take the kids with us."

She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda brought him inside to meet her children. She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis thought, and then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair. He was born a paraplegic with Downs Syndrome.

Kurtis told Brenda, "I still don't understand wh y the kids can't come with us." Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away fro m a woman with two kids, especially if one had disabilities ~ just like her first husband and father of her children had done. But Kurtis was not ordinary ~ he had a different mindset.

That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids and went to dinner and the movies. When her son needed anything, Kurtis would take care of him. When he needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him, and brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with.

A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children. Since then they have added five more kids.

So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy at a grocery store in Cedar Falls, Iowa and Brenda the checkout girl? Well, Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona where he is currently employed as the quarterback of the National Football League Arizona Cardinals and has his Cardinals in the hunt for a possible appearance in the Su per Bowl. Is this a surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person.

It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI...and he has also been the NFL's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player. He established the First Things First Foundation in the spring of 2001 with wife Brenda to promote Christian values and bless the lives of those less fortunate with projects such as trips to Disney World for ill children, building recreation centers in childrenʼs hospitals, helping single moms achieve the dream of homeownership and teaching Special Olympians the football basics. All projects ar e centered on Kurt and Brendaʼs life theme: faith and family come first.

the end digit of each teams scores are your allocated numbers.  and the payouts are split by each quarter.  so if the score after qtr 1 was 6-0 arizona, flushy would scoop tht qtrs prize.

good news for Arizona

The weather for the Super Bowl is looking very nice with sunshine prior to the game and highs in the 60s. Once the game begins at 6:00 p.m., the weather will remain dry with temperatures falling into the 50s. The wind will not play much of a factor. We expect winds to be northeast at 6-12 mph.

Those leaving Tampa on Monday will have to deal with heavy thunderstorms. It's possible that flights will be delayed due to the weather on Monday afternoon.

Story by AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Jim Andrews.

would be 9 home games a season in the new 18 game season, shouldn't have any problem selling out as the only non us franchise. people will travel from around europe, it's not like nfl europe where you had to find fans for each team. probably won't see many travelling to the away games though

I agree the problem you have is that majority of people in this country already have a team and we are brought up never to switch teams. Though i would probably go to a game that a London franchise would host, i am dolphins fan now and that ain't going to change.

They be able to pick up all the ex-Chelsea fans who will desert the club when they get relegated after Abramovich bails out.
