And 200 isn't bad capacity is it?

Yes and no.

There have been some events with two Day 1s.  But these are events aimed at amateurs, and obviously most will have jobs.  This means finding a weekend where people can get the time off for the Friday/Monday.  Also it means more than one night's stay in a hotel, and that can be prohibitive especially as the buy-in is only £75 so the prize pool isn't enormous.

The 'World' APAT event at DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) should be a belter though.  Holdem for the ME, and HORSE and Omaha tournaments as well.  Not sure how many runners the ME will have, probably a few.

No, surprised me too.  Apparently been that way since the Vic event at the end of last season.

I don't like using my debit card online for a number of reasons.  I'm investigating a number of options (including a pre-paid debit card, opening a dedicated poker account with debit card, etc.).

It's a talent.  I only had 25K, and there were 1 million chips in play, so still lots to do.  Went card-dead and lost some races.  Don't think I played all that badly otherwise.  Bodders also had a decent stack.  He went out only 5 or so places short of a seat, and was knocked out with AK v AT all-in pre.  The fella who knocked him out had already won a seat the previous night... rule-changes are afoot!

Isn't it kind of a sticky one?  The seat can be put up 'for sale' on the exchange board and he can say she's bought it when replies come in.  Only way to stop it in future is to have Blue Square block anyone from entering who already has a seat won.

He will have the money instead of the seat.

The question is what APAT does with that seat.

In this satellite the option to buy it was given to the person who bubbled - this seems fair, but I think it would also be fair (and simpler) if it just went in the general pool to be available to the clickfest.

As long as there's no possibility of someone actually winning 2 seats (and hence then being able to sell one to who they want) then I don't see how this could cause a problem.

That seems too random to me.

The person who bubbles has shown some skill to get to the bubble, the last person he knocked out might have been sitting out for 2 hours before losing his 1 big blind in a forced all in.

You could switch that around as well, Jon - the person who bubbled could have been sitting out for an hour, and the individual that was knocked out could have shown some skill in getting as far as he did.

No matter, Des will make the decision.

I do agree with an earlier post though, no one who has won a seat via a satellite should be allowed to enter a further satellite to the same comp.

Des will be making sure it doesn't happen again (the player with a seat playing in another sat - not the site going down!).

Unlike other sats, these sats aren't for 'APAT Nationals' - they are for a specific APAT National.  Many people don't play them because they can't afford the buy-in, they play the sats to ensure they get a seat.  No matter how much money you have, it won't guarantee you a seat via the clickfest.

If this bloke wanted to win a seat for his missus, why didn't he just play on her account for her?  No one would have known, and all would have been dandy.  Instead, he was playing for fun - at the expense of others really.  Towards the bubble of a satellite you generally clam up - avoid unnecessary risks.  Most people do, but he didn't have to do this, did he?  He wasn't playing for a seat - but for a prize of £100 (or thereabouts).  I'm sure it's not a lot to him, and not as much as a seat is worth to those trying to win one.

People were saying that if he hadn't played then there would have only been 13 seats, and not 14.  This is actually true, but it would have meant that the person who bubbled for the seat would have won enough cash to buy-in (provided they could negotiate the clickfest). Instead they won $5 and now have the option of paying £75 for the seat.  This might suit them, or maybe £75 is too much of a buy-in for their roll and they needed to sat in to play?  The bloke who already had a seat added $15 to the prize-pool (one rebuy and one add-on I think).

Try telling Bodders who was outdrawn not too far from the seats by this player (AK v AT all-in pre) that him playing didn't matter.

Title: Re: APAT down!!
Post by: Bodddders on January 15, 2009, 02:04:45 PM
I was obviously gutted to lose that hand just 4 places away from a seat, but tbh when the cards were turned over I was very happy indeed.

Agree though a rule needs to be put in place to stop this happening again. Otherwise you could have more than one person who has already got a seat playing.

Title: Re: APAT down!!

I wear going to play in the Sat's to win a seat and then sell it (if i had won one) as i am not going. But that is not the APAT way so did not bother. People who do this should be warned and then band if they should do it again (one strike and your out ;nemesis;)

I think on the night Des handled it very well and that it is right the guy that bubbled got an option on the seat.

As Daniel says the guy who bubbled would had mattblue not played won enough money to cover the buy in but now still has to fork out the full £75 to play

(Notwithstanding the fact had mattblue not played of course then hands would have been different, cards dealt different, results different and no doubt different people making the seats!! - maybe EVEN yappari the early chip leader!!)

as a low middle stack player on the bubble last night not only had I got the misses wanting to discuss something important but had both tables open and the apat forum open to keep up with the latest decision!!!

If you get the emails, then you've signed up with them.  Not sure about the Blue Square rule, but don't think you need that for the clickfest.

Open notepad on your computer (or word, or anything you want really) - and enter your card details (if you're not sure what details you might need, type them all in - on separate lines of course).

Also enter your address details.

Save that file and keep it open.

From 20:55 get on the APAT.com homepage and ctrl+F5 the page every few seconds. When the link appears, click on the bugger and get copying and pasting!  If you're lucky you won't have to type too much.  If you use Firefox, have IE open as well and on the page (or vice versa) - it'd be a bugger if your browser crashes and you don't have another open and ready to use.

Have your card ready (debit card only remember) as well.

;goodluck;

No problem Graham.  It always works like this.  Too many people want seats to these events.  List of those successful goes up later. If you are unlucky enough to miss out, you dont get charged.

Well done apat who put on a great tournament and very well done to you guys on blonde involved

But why the hell can't local casino's realise the demand for decent tournaments when players are travelling all over the country to play these events. The muppets who are in charge haven't got a clue and it's such a shame when the demand is there but they are to stupid/lazy to try and meet those demands.

Anyway well done again to apat and congratulations on your continued success

Probably because there's little to no money in it for them.  I'd expect Blue Sq & Grosvenor Casinos to be forking out a fair bit to host each APAT event.

Standard procedure these days and well covered within the T & C's.

The event went live at around 9.01 and I would think anyone within a minute or two of that should have a seat...but awaiting the report.

Very difficult economic climate at the moment, but I think a lot of casinos could try a good deal harder.

Its not a secret, its just that the game is not confirmed yet (date/time) and I have to be careful about promoting it on other forums.  (I am gonna sneak in under the cover of darkness and spam it to death)

I don't think it actually processes the transaction until it's been confirmed. So if you haven't got a seat there shouldn't be any money taken is my understanding of it.

No money will have actually been taken if you were unfortunate not to get a seat.

It is a pre-authorisation process which effectively allocates the funds without taking them.  It should clear in the next day.

Yes. Just make sure you're there from the off.

Check the grosvenor website for games for fri/sat night. IIRC last year the normal sat night tourney at Walsall was cancelled for APAT. There were cash games however...

Should be fun, very much looking forward to attending what will be my first APAT event. 100% clickfest record so far, I'd be awesome on the first stage of Millionaire.

See you there Snoopster.  You will enjoy and love it long time.

What odds for a blonde winner?  4to1?

my chancings of actually coming in the top 90% of a comp is remote the chances of winning one is impossible

plus is a tuesday i got the crapfest down the pub to play with not long to go till end of season i have my near perfect record of not making a FT for a whole season to protect (only 15-20 runners a week only time i did score points was when i went out on last hand before FT even though i would of made FT if i passed)

That's not how websites work. If they had to be taken down everytime they were updated the BBC site would never be live.

From preliminary sweeps of hotels in Cardiff for that weekend, you might end up staying in Swansea - everywhere sensibly affordable seems to already be booked up.

I got in this time, well, got the pre-authorisation confimation thing.   Looks like it'll be the hotel booking that will prove to be a pain.

So pissed off.  Fully expected to miss the clickfest as at the theatre tonight.

Miraculously, the interval started at 8.55 and I logged in from my phone and found the link open.  Got all the way through the details then it went to the RBS secure password screen and promptly crashed.

I appear to have made it onto the player list - so one of my purchase attempts must have actually gone through.

Andrew, quoted from APAT forum as posted by Des;

"This payment processor is the most widely used in gaming in the UK, but it drives me mad from time to time as it can be very sensitive.

A small number of the 15 players who used the test link earlier today, subsequently had a failed transaction at 9pm.  If those players had completed their failed transaction before the final seat was allocated this evening, then they will be on the player list for Cardiff and we will send them a fresh payment link in a couple of days when their card does not trip the 'multiple use within 24 hours' flag.

I have all of the timings surrounding this so it is extremely easy to work out.

....and we need some bigger venues."

Hope this explains.

problem is sir that if you have bigger venue with a lot more runners the game simply wont finish in time.the current blind and stack structures are excellent and to change them would devalue the tiurnament.just look at dusk till dawn, the 321 was still going at 3am this morning with just circa 300 runners.i was unlucky enough to not get into walsall and will have to tryand be an alternate for cardiff but thats life i guess.
