In browser format, yes no problem

There have been reports that the download version has difficulties on a Mac, I think.

Hope there are a few events there that appeal Chris

Yeah you can download it as an Adobe Air file and install on your machine.

I've had no problems although don't use it often.

The download client runs smoothly on both Snow Leopard and Lion.  Factoid: the download software was actually designed on a Mac!

Geek out.

No late reg possible.

Remember also it's NO ANTES funnaments.

Just to highlight what i mean in particular- take Event 7 for example- £100 freezeout, primetime on a Saturday night and guarantee is £10k. Surely can get 300 runners if you make the guarantee £30k? or 250 for £25k?

No.

It is almost exclusively a six max site

It is what the vast majority of their regular players, many of whom came to poker via the site, prefer

Satellite Schedule.

Details to follow imminently.

Title: Re: Sky Poker's UKOPS £150,000 gtd Online festival
Post by: tikay on October 10, 2011, 12:52:58 PM

ALL Satellites will be based upon "guaranteed Seats", NOT "1 seat in x" EXCEPT "micro-sats". (See next Post).

Every satellite will be capped, & will carry GUARANTEED Seats, irrespective of number of runners.

Title: Re: Sky Poker's UKOPS £150,000 gtd Online festival
Post by: tikay on October 10, 2011, 12:53:32 PM

Starting with "Special" Daily Satellites which combine High Roller & Main Event Seats.

These will be 9pm EVERY NIGHT, 7 days per week. (Replaces the TSP Classic Mon-Fri, & the £500 Gtd Sat & Sunday. Note the TSP Classic will NOT run tonight, or again until AFTER UKOPS has finished).

UKOPS Direct.

Buy-In - £12.

FIRST - GUARANTEED £530 UKOPS High-Roller Seat

2nd - 6th - GUARANTREED £220 Main Event Seats.

Capped at 150 runners in every case.

Micro-Sats to these UKOPS Directs - £2.40, the same schedule as the current TSP Classic satelite structure, except 7 days per week, not 5.

So, these Micro-Sats will run at 3.50pm daily, 4.20pm daily, 4.50pm daily, 5.20pm daily, 5.50pm daily, 6.20pm daily, 6.50pm daily & 7.20pm daily.

Title: Re: Sky Poker's UKOPS £150,000 gtd Online festival
Post by: tikay on October 10, 2011, 12:53:57 PM

Details for these will be in the next Post.

Excellent value in the sats to this - and I see on Sky that already there are plenty of people reg'd for a £2 sat who I never thought I'd see in a £2 tourney.

A lot to digest there

but surely 15.30, £12, 5 seats guaranteed (Max 50), for example is superb value?

It wouldn't be making 5 seats (£550) mid afternoon on its own steam would it?

As much as I'd enjoy an overlay, too save tikay getting the sack this early into the series the 7:30pm 10seats gtd has 27ppl registered with 18mins  to go if anyone's interested.

Edit: Ended up with 66, well worth checking out the future one's, geeg that one for me though :( glgl any blondes playing.

I will almost certainly play a couple of these but doubt I can link my account because I have had a (now so heavily restricted it is useless) account with Skybet for years.  I would never have played, or even known about, these if it wasn't for Blonde so I think it is fair to say that you are driving a fair bit more traffic than you will be getting credit for.  Might be worth mentioning this when you discuss renewing.

Lots of nice satellites today to UKOPS 2, the Omaha Rebuy. The Satellites will be Omaha FREEZEOUTS. A few of today's Sats have already taken place, but here's the rest of today's programme.

14.30, £1.20, 2 seats guaranteed (Max 100)

15.30, £6, 5 seats guaranteed (Max  50)

18.30, £1.20, 3 seats guaranteed (max 150)

19.30, £6, 10 seats guaranteed (max 100)

21.30, £1.20, 3 seats guaranteed (max 150)

22.30, £6, 10 seats guaranteed (max 100)

So, THIRTY THREE Omaha Seats still up for grabs. GUARANTEED.

Effective today, the UKOPS Satellite schedule & structure has changed. "Phase 1" did it's job well, so now it moves to a revised format.

The "40 seats Guaranteed irrespective of how many runners" to the Daily, "regular" UKOPS Events (i.e., all except the High Roller & Main) have now ended.

For the Monday/Monday, Tuesday/Tuesday etc qualifying, there will now be "1 in 5" feeders @ £2.60 throughout the day to a DAILY Semi, to be held at 9.15pm. Direct buy-ins to the Semi are also available, & the Semi will offer 1 seat for every 5 runners.

This will be the daily Format until notified otherwise, but almost certainly, all this week.

The daily, or more correctly, nightly, 9pm Super Sat will continue exactly as before, with 1 x £530 High Roller Seat & 5 x £220 Main Event Seats GUARANTEED. They will remain capped @ 150 runners.

If someone binks a seat in these who already has a Seat for the respective Event, they will automatically receive a cash credit to the value of the Seat.

Hi.

I asked the Suits, & they replied thusly.....

".....No you will not receive any credit, refund or token.

However, if you contact c/care to advise that you are unable to play this event and you would like to change it for another tournament of equal value then they will do their best to accommodate you....."

I hope that is satisfactory.

I would say no.

Skybet are extremely strict about self-exclusions, rightly for responsible gaming reasons

I have never known a self exclusion to be overturned

As Tighty said, but more definitive. Absolutely not, no chance. Self-exclusions cannot be revoked under any circumstances.

Tonight's the Night ...Aha

For every player you knock out you claim 75% of their bounty and 25% is added to your own head value

So for clarity - each KO is worth £37.50 (at 1st hand) and 12.50 gets added to your head?

So if a villain is worth £100 - you get £75 and 25 gets added to your head?

Im presuming that a running player "value" is shown?

sigh - gonna have to work out dynamics really quickly

How many runners did it get and whats on tonight?

Thnx

It got a staggering 329 runners (200 needed to "cover" Guarantee). Even more amazing is that the "regular" nightly Main Event (also an 8pm start) was also a Bounty Hunter, priced at £22, which needed 400 to cover it's £8k G'tee, & that one got 545 runners. Bounty Hunters get sniffed at by the heavy brigade, but the regular players love them, the numbers conclusively prove that.

Tonight it is the Omaha Rebuy, priced at £55 & with a £10,000 Guarantee. Cheapo Satellites will be running all day.

I should remind everyone that Rebuys (&/or Add-on) on Sky Poker are "raked", exactly the same as the entry fee is. And no, I don't agree with it, but it is what it is, so I want to ensure the blondes know BEFORE they Register, & if they wanna flame, so be it.

Worth also mentioning that the Add-On gives 50% "bonus" chips. (4,000 starting chips, rebuys available immerdiately you are sub 4,000, the Add-On gives 6,000 chips).

Nope. I disagree with it, strongly, but I understand why they do it, & that's that really. To be pedantic, it has absolutely nothing, zilch, nada,  to do with "protecting" Prize Pools, rake or Reg Fee is nothing to do with Prize Pools, here, or anywhere else.

I try to ensure that would-be players are aware of it in advance, so there can be no misunderstanding afterwards, & players cannot suggest they were unaware. As long as it is made known that they are raked, to be honest, it causes me no problems even though I disagree with it. There are lots of things in life I don't agree with, so I make my choices accordingly. Poker is restricted to adults, who can & should have the absolute choice & right whether to accept it or not. For me, my conscience is satisfied if I do my best to make people aware of it in advance, as I have again today, even though I know I'll get a black eye or two.

Sorry you won't be joining us tonight - I think it'll be a cracking Event.

As at 10am today, 66 were Registered. The Guarantee is £10k, so it needs 200 Entries/rebuys/add-ons to "cover". I am extremely bullish abouit it covering, despite the fact that Omaha liquidity remains very low, & is a work-in-progress. (30% of yesterday's UKOPS1 field were direct buy-ins during the hour prior to start time).

And yes, the add-on is raked/reg fee'd.....!

I believe the "bonus" add-on equates to 30 Bigs at time of Add-On.

No, it's very much a non-standard thing in the industry, but then again, Sky Poker do a lot of things that are not industry standard. Some good, some bad.

I have made my case, & moved on, I don't run the place, & it's not the sort of thing I'm gonna get too upset about, as long as it is not done covertly, or "on the quiet". I strongly beleve in the free market.

It has been the case there since Rebuys were first introduced, & an analysis of the numbers who play the Rebuys there shows it has accepted by the vast majority of the player base.

It's the way things are going with poker - how many live rebuys now have a % of the prize pool raked instead of a fee? Re-entries in live tourneys are effectively raked rebuys and a lot of the players on sky won't know that there was a time when rebuys and addons were juice free.

Tikay please believe me when I say I'm not trying to stir up a shitstorm. However seeing as sky poker is aimed at the new player probably moreso than any site, they're not really going to be aware that raking rebuys is not the standard are they? Several major Casino chains in the UK now actually remove cash from the Prizepool. Nobody complains, it seems.

Raking the prize pool is still not the standard as far as I'm aware. The standard both live and online is to pay the rake once only. In fact I remember Tikay objecting quite strongly when Grosvenor Walsall did it for one their comps.

Re-entries are not rebuys. Simple. You get reseated and are, for all intents and purposes, a new player hence why you pay the rake twice. You also play with a full and not a shallow stack. I loved the 50 re-enrties dtd did. Prepared to pay the extra 6 quid for a 10k stack rather than 50 quid for a 2k stack

You are quite correct, lots of new, or "recreational" players, would not, or may not, be aware that it is not done elsewhere.

It IS clearly stated that Sky Poker charge a reg fee on rebuys, as it should be.

It is NOT clearly stated that other Sites do not charge rake on rebuys, & I see no reason why it should.

I doubt that EasyJet have to print a disclaimer in tickets saying that although they charge extra for hold baggage, most airlines, BA included, do not.

I repeat, once more. Taking money out of a prizepool, & raking rebuys, are completely different things.

And yes, I did make a noise about both Grosvenor Walsall & The Vic taking money out of Prize Pools. And I did make a noise about the EPT London - which I believe you played - taking money out of the prizepool.

That is quite different to raking rebuys, imo.

Your point is noted, G2L, I'm sorry you don't agree, I'm not a fan of it either, but it is what it is.

It's the way things are going with poker - how many live rebuys now have a % of the prize pool raked instead of a fee? Re-entries in live tourneys are effectively raked rebuys and a lot of the players on sky won't know that there was a time when rebuys and addons were juice free.

It's still probably excellent value for those who can play well with 4 cards instead of 2 even with the rebuys raked.

Not skipping it due to the rake of rebuys but I do think it's very wrong. I've never heard of such a thing live or online.

No, it's very much a non-standard thing in the industry, but then again, Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3) do a lot of things that are not industry standard.

Tikay please believe me when I say I'm not trying to stir up a shitstorm. However seeing as Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3) is aimed at the new player probably moreso than any site, they're not really going to be aware that raking rebuys is not the standard are they? Again correct me if I'm wrong and it states this somewhere clearly.

Knew I should never have mentioned it, fml......by the by, I have not suggested once you are trying to create a "shitstorm". I'm simply answering your "frankly shocked" questions, &, I hope, with good manners & patience. If it were done covertly, yes, but it's not. Sliced bread is a penny cheaper at Tesco compared to Sainsburys, so the Customers have to make a choice. Choice, & freedom of it, is a wonderful thing.

You are quite correct, lots of new, or "recreational" players, would not, or may not, be aware that it is not done elsewhere.

It IS clearly stated that Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3) charge a reg fee on rebuys, as it should be.

It is NOT clearly stated that other Sites do not charge rake on rebuys, & I see no reason why it should.

I doubt that EasyJet have to print a disclaimer in tickets saying that although they charge extra for hold baggage, most airlines, BA included, do not.

Not suggesting they should. Just trying to understand why this decision was made by the bigwigs at Sky. Guess I'll never understand so will leave it there. GL in the omaha tonight! (I assume you'll be donating?)

Well you said....

".....However seeing as Sky Poker is aimed at the new player probably moreso than any site, they're not really going to be aware that raking rebuys is not the standard are they? Again correct me if I'm wrong and it states this somewhere clearly....."

Tourneys (MTT's) constitute around 25% of revenues on most Online Poker Sites, & rebuys around 5% of THAT figure, so it's not that important in the grand scheme of things. The numbers have been analysed in depth, & the "take-up" on raked rebuy Tourneys conforms precisely with expectation, including in the weekly Rebuy Main Event.

This ^.  Glad I was told, but am playing anyway.

and the EPT London happily advertised a £970+£130 comp as a £1000+£100 one, and as Luke Schwartz will testify, you still had to pay for sarnies.

As you play on party are you aware that they rake the prize pool for rebuys (just to add balance).

But I agree it's not right (as does every other player Ldo)

Monday's Bounty Hunter winner, "supersnedd", took home £5,600. I think he satted in for £12.

Last night's Omaha winner "10bite14" satted in for £6, & cashed last night for £3,380.

Tonight's £530 High Roller has 45 runners so far, so a tidy Prize Pool, by Sky Poker standards, in prospect.

The field will be quite an eclectic collection, as almost all of those Registered so far will have satellied in via those daily £12 jobbies, read into that what you will.

A lot of new faces have appeared in UKOPS this week, including lots of blondes, with both Mondy & railtard running deep, & even Jen Mason gracing us with her presence. I'd be surprised if we don't see a good few faces again tonight.

The Lobby so far looks like this, not sure how many are blondes.....

The £530 High Roller itself starts @ 8pm tonight.

There are feeder satellites all afternoon from as little as £2.60, right up to £6.40, £13, & £24.

These all feed into the £58 Semi-Final at 6pm (1800) tonight.

For those that miss out, the regular £5,000 Guaranteed Sky Roller (£110) & £15,000 Guaranteed Sky Sports Bounty Hunter (£33) both run as usual, with plenty of satellite routes as usual.

The Show Guest on 865 tonight is McLean Karr, Mr Richard Orford is the Presenter, & I shall be in charge of abusing any blondes who play, especially Thewy.

On the downside, he is the toy boy of one TattyTats, aka Tatjana Pasalic. Dont be googling her, please, stick to McLean, right?

The regular, £110, Sky Roller is also north of it's £5,000 Guarantee already with nearly an hour to go before kick off.

I have to admire you trying your best to avoid someone moaning at you that they didn't realise the start time was different.  Sadly I fear it will be in vain.  You've really turned it up to spam factor eleven though.

I'm in, gl Tikay and all Blondes in this.

Lol, not wrong. I have put my anti-moan Dr Dre's on, to filter it out.

Think I'll probably play it, too. Sound use of £220, imo.

Honestly - how can I continue to run so bad on this site?

Was playing in the turbo sat for the main event, had an above average stack as we come to the end of the first hour break. The game pauses so I go off for a piss, turn the heating on, get a drink and come back to the laptop.

Was only gone for about 3 mins and see the 'I'm back' button is on and cards are being dealt. Half my chips have gone.

THERE WAS NO BREAK.

First time I have ever played a tourney on Sky in which there was no break and I've played on there since it started.

Really, really pissed off.

Thanks Alex, & thanks for being so supportive of the sponsorship.

Tidy field tonight, I spotted Rupert Elder, Toby Lewis, Thewy - obv - Mondy, Jen Mason, John Conroy, Jack Ellwood, Dave Nicholon (briefly...), Chris Brammer, etc, plus plenty more notables.

We'll be doing UKOPS 2 very soon. Thankfully, an Online Poker Site does not lack for advice from players as to how to do these things......;)

Good series overall, clearly a lot of the player pool on Sky didn't wish to rebuy and thus the 50r played like a fo, it took the add ons to prevent an overlay and I think close to 1/3 of the field didn't take the add on so maybe that's something to think about. Think the gte's on most of the comps could be increased and even doubled and there wouldn't be a struggle to get the numbers. Thought the structure's where good for all the events. WP all involved and look forward to the next one.

Thewy in the BB calls a jam from the SB, both playing similar stacks of about 20xBB.

Thewy K-2, jammer K-5.

Ship the 3-4-5-Q-6 board........

Thanks Chris.

Fair point Chris, noted, & taken.

SkyPoker.com is not on a network, it's a standalone, & has grown rapidly, with the bulk of the player base being "recreational" - which we see as a good thing, but the need to engage wider is important too. But being relatively small, & independent, makes growing quite a tricky balancing act, we can't charge skins for missing Guarantees, as the networks do, for example, "subsidy" comes straiht off our bottom line.

Y-o-Y growth is strong - very strong, so we have no need to gamble too much, the balance is between holding what we have, & continuing the growth pattern. The site gets a fair degree of stick from the hardcore lads on, say, 2+2, but to achieve the incred growth it has in a market where almost every other site/network is showing huge Y-o-Y & Q-o-Q suggests we are doing something that they are not.

To get those Guarantees in context, the UKOPS Omaha, for example, was Guaranteed at £10,000. (All numbers in sterling, not dollars). The Guarantee was easily beaten, it made about £11k I think. The biggest EVER previous Omaha Tourney on Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3) was......£1,000! So that was a bit of a leap.....

The Bounty Hunter on Monday was far & away the biggest BH ever on the Site. The High Roller was - when played - the biggest EVER prize Pool on SkyPoker, at £44,000. That record lasted 3 days, until it was bested by the UKOPS Main Event Prize Pool of £58,200. In every case, we had to nearly break the site record to set the guarantees at the level we did - 8 times on the bounce! And yet yes, we could have set them higher, as most of the 8 UKOPS Events beat their Guarantees by 50% or more.

UKOPS will return very soon, & we will include the lessons we learned, & hopefully, be a little braver with the Guarantees. But we see no need to bet the shop, so to speak, with the organic growth going along lickity-spit, as it is.

There was some (fair) criticism as to lack of late reg, & antes, too, but we are quite comfy with that, as we have a date for when both will be available, & it's only a matter of a few months away now.

We switched off the "TV Red Button" facility 2 weeks ago, no big deal in itself (yes, peeps DID use it!), but whilst that was in place, it stopped us doing all manner of software enhancements, which we can now press on with.

Hopefully, you, & the other "faces" who came across this week, will give UKOPS 2 a go, & maybe stick around for some of our regular stuff, too. The free market is a wonderful thing.

Congrats to tonight's Main Event winner, too, young James Williams, now with Encore, following up his SPT Grand Final win with a facile victory tonight.

Well done to Thewy, too, who won the UKOPS Leaderboard, having won UKOPS7, & finishing 7th in tonight's Main Event. A fine effort by beaneh, too, to chase him home to the very end, missing out by the narrowest of margins.

UKOPS will return soon........deffo better, definitely a bit different, & maybe bigger.

yeh i understand this was quite a big step for sky poker, and from what i saw of it you did a lot of things well.

at the moment I'm not really your typical market so not sure how much my opinion really matters to sky anyway

No, you are not exactly "target", but the feedback was appreciated, & anyway, I love you a little bit.
