Big Blue 600 yards away - pricey Travel Lodge 100 yards away B and Bs across the road from £20 (most will do a late bfast if you tell em you are at the poker) Probably be a thread on Aworldofpoker Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: smokynuts on October 10, 2012, 11:38:01 PM i'm gonna guess 180 runners venue is fine craic is good Hotels straight across the road. Andy Peters won £72K at main event in 2011 so I'm guessing around 200 runners. Bristol won't affect numbers at Blackpool in any way. Blackpool has a great atmosphere and is a firm favourite here in the NW. It is always well attended. There was a post recently on AWOP about a nearby BnB run by 2 poker players. Apparently they do a poker players' breakfast between 12 noon and 1pm. How civilised is that? Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: George2Loose on October 12, 2012, 01:27:11 PM Think it will effect numbers ESP with stars putting a gte on their comp and this comp having no gte

Blackpool will be 95% full of players from the NW and Ireland. That's just a fact. Can't see anybody from here making the journey to Bristol. I don't have anything against Bristol or the UKIPT. They're not just made up of locals. Most people will choose Bristol over Blackpool. Think it's annoying there's a clash but again stars have put a gte on their tourney whereas Blackpool haven't. Only saving grace got Blackpool might be those who bust Bristol may travel to play both
Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: Dubai on October 12, 2012, 05:12:06 PM Obviously theres a crossover between players based anywhere in the UK that play £500-£1000 tournaments. So if there are 2 options in this range anywhere in the UK they will obviously have an affect on the numbers attending each. The player pool just isnt big enough to sustain multiple tournaments at the 1k level in different locations on the same day

Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: Doobs on October 14, 2012, 11:43:48 AM I don't get why people would definitely choose Bristol over Blackpool. Stars puts a guarantee on, but they charge a higher percentage in rake. Blackpool has also been close to the most popular of the GUKPT legs, and I know a few people who say it is their favourite. The numbers are bound to be affected for both obviously.
I won't be going to either, the journey is too far to both. Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: smokynuts on October 14, 2012, 12:45:06 PM i realy not sure whitch to play guess i will decide 2-3 days before as i recon neither will fill up ?

You being in attendance could tip the balance in favour of either venue. My personal pref would be to have the ukipt in Blackpool. In all likelihood I will play Bristol, bust that and then drive up anyway #lovethegame Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: SuuPRlim on October 17, 2012, 10:47:23 AM I was thinking my old Ford Focus, that's part of the challenge lildave has his license back now. The largest (in participation terms) poker tour in the world is having an event 200 miles away. How can it not have an effect? You seem pretty sure though so lets have a wager, you name the amount but i would like to bet that more than 5% of the blackpool field is made up of players from outside the NW or Ireland and also at least 1 player in the UKIPT Bristol is from the Blackpool area. #UKIPTBristol numbers over both starting days is 550. 315 runners today, plus the 235 from Day 1A means (unconfirmed) prize pool of £373,450 146 so far at GUKPT Blackpool Reg still open Pretty impressive numbers, combined Blackpool last year had 250 over 2 starting days, but I reckon 146 maybe 170 by the time it closes is excellent given the different circumstances this year Title: Re: quick question? about the GUKPT blackpool Post by: Royal Flush on November 10, 2012, 10:34:35 AM Wonder what thedevastater would say the reason is in the drop in numbers considering Bristol was going to have 0 effect.
